Beterbiev vs Maderna FULL FIGHT: June 4, 2016 - PBC on ESPN

(June 4) - As the world mourns the loss of Muhammad Ali, Saturday night’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on ESPN and ESPN Deportes telecast began with a “Ceremonial 10-Count” in memory of “The Greatest” and continued to pay tribute to him throughout the telecast that was headlined by a light heavyweight bout between hard-hitting Russian Olympian Artur Beterbiev against Argentina’s Ezequiel Maderna.
The 31-year-old Beterbiev (10-0, 10 KOs), who fights out of Montreal, returned to the ring after an almost year-long layoff following shoulder surgery. Now seven months removed from the procedure, Beterbiev looked sharp from the opening bell as he threw straight right hands and body shots effectively to start the fight.
Maderna, who was also coming off of a long layoff, was hoping to make a statement in his first fight on North American soil as he moved up in weight for this bout. Beterbiev utilized his power and precision to control the entire fight, but kicked it into high gear in the third round, sending the 29-year-old Maderna to the canvas with two right hands. He stood up, but soon after was sent to the canvas again. This time, spitting out his mouth piece to delay the bout causing Referee Marlon B. Wright to deduct a point.
At the start of round four, Maderna was dropped with a punishing right hand. He rose to his feat only find himself canvas agan, looking at his corner, they threw in the towel and the fight was stopped at 54 seconds of round four.
''I am really satisfied by my performance,” said Beterbiev. “I want to thank my team for their patience during my inactivity.”
''My guy did really well after an absence of a year,” said Beterbiev’s trainer Marc Ramsay. “He is very special. In a short or medium period of time, we want to fight in a world championship.”

Yarde just recently pulled the same shit this Maderna did. After feeling Artur's power he spit out his mouthpiece twice, then asked his corner to bail him out.

I can say this for sure... i would not want to get into a fight with Beterbiev in a back alley of some bar... i reckon you'd be searching round for your teeth at the end of it

Interesting to watch this fight again, as Yarde also tried to use the spitting out of the mouth shield tactic not once but twice in the fight last night. But such is bias and corruption in boxing, he wasn't punished unlike Maderna was in this fight.

He turned pro at the age of 27, which is quite late. He had some promotional issues, had a shoulder injury that required an operation and had Covid19 disease. It is also obvious that he is not managed well. He is now 37, most probably past his prime.

That just points out your lack of knowledge about boxing. Just because you haven't heard of them that person is not a quality opponent ? This guy's a world champion from Argentina, World Champion. And you never heard of him. So I would say your opinion doesn't matter too much

You're trying to big up a random opponent because you have personal feelings for a boxer you have never met because he has hype on him lol do you know how many belts there are in the sport of boxing per division? Who you are fighting should be the #1 concern for real boxing fans. Look at what happened to Warrington and Diaz lol they both got exposed by complete nobodies.

Beterbiev’s power is something else but I’d also like to say this fight basically ruined Maderna’s career and any hopes he had of fighting at the elite level (he went 5-8 after this but did upset Karol Itauma, ironically enough on a Beterbiev undercard)

His style must annoy opponents into submission. But he is dangerous when provoked. Browne found out. Watch him overpower Prieto.

I think Beterbiev looping right hits the back of his opponents' heads. He is doing this here and in other fights I watched him. That is dangerous. Shouldn't that be illegal?
