BEST Winch UPGRADES you can possibly do!! | HUGE Winch Power Gains | 24 Volt Tourer Set-up

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I finally get some lithium winch batteries for the wagon, this has been on the list for a couple years now. The overall gains from these batteries was very surprising, we dive into whether its worth spending the money and setting up a car for 24v plus a whole heap more.

    i might have to look at these. tried a DCS 80 extreme in a comp a couple years ago and pretty sure my single high speed low mount was pulling 400amps on hard pulls -the BMS kept tripping out for 30 secs . in a stage - this sucked. one of the other massive advantages is they charge extremely quickly off alternator. i ended up putting in my 200 series and never tripped, but recently had bms replaced under warranty. i replaced in the patrol with the same fullriver as you had. the power on winching on a single battery, single winch motor 12v set up in weekend warriors with the lithium is awesome. even noticed the windows wind up faster :)

    Is there as much benefit for a budget bloke running 24v to his 12v low mount winch with just some ordinary ns70’s and maybe a 2nd 24v alternator or cheaper supercharge box? Does it become too unreliable with the cheaper options?

  • @DanielKistler

    @DanielKistler

    11 ай бұрын

    In my opinion if your on a budget then the money can be spent better elsewhere on the car, as long as the winch works that’s all that matters. Down the track when you’ve got funds for a good set up then tackle it.

    This could be a dumb question. But why do the two set ups draw different amps and volts in the same winching situation?

  • @DanielKistler

    @DanielKistler

    11 ай бұрын

    Me and a mate were talking about this so I’ll chuck the response here AGM is more susceptible to voltage drop, and due to the power the winch wants in watts (amps x voltage is watts) it will demand more amps to compensate for the voltage drop, and voltage drop also has to go somewhere, and it does so by way of heat. So ohms law is whatever the motor demands in watts, the motor will get, and so if there is voltage drop, it must maintain watts so it rises amps, and heat

  • @Falcon_Overland
    @Falcon_Overland10 ай бұрын

    Hey man you should look into going lipo batteries. For 6- 10kg you can get a 7s 20ah battery that is 24v and can pull 2000 amps for 30 seconds. Which also has way less voltage drop than those agms. CCA is a bad way of measuring how much amps a battery can deliver
