For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. kzread.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

First let me say, I love watching your reviews! Your second to none! I'm a diehard Stihl and Husqvarna fan (the brand depends on what I'm buying). This trimmer seems to be top notch with awesome features, but I hate to say, but I've given up on gas trimmers. They're mainly too costly, noisy, leaky, and heavy. I'm guessing you haven't tried some of the lightweight rechargeable weed eaters? If you don't carry them yet, you should because they are the future for sure. Since I bought one 2 years ago, I've concluded that I will never go back to gas trimmers. (I live in a rural area with a 2 acre yard with vines etc., not a perfect manicured city yard) I'm sure not all of them are great, as for anything you buy, but the one I have is awesome (I'm not trying to take away anything from this great review, so I won't say the name). It's lightweight, it lasts a long time on one charge, it's quiet and you can hear everything your doing (which is amazing), which also saves on string. When needed, the battery will recharge pretty fast, so that's a non issue. Even if I was running them commercially, I would still go battery power, just with a bigger battery of course. The base models are also perfect for residential use.

As a landscaper, battery powered trimmers and blowers are insufficient in providing the power I need to get me and my crew through the day! • @harryballz6358

I own an original Japanese made Shindiawa T230, excellent trimmer. Recently I went to buy another one but discovered Echo turned the Shindiawa into a homeowner line. It's all they are now. The cheapest part on one is the gear head so whatever you do don't run one without the shield because their gear or clutch one will fail. Echo won't cover either under warranty if they suspect its been ran without its shield. Compare the parts break downs, you'll learn how good/bad a trimmer is built. Look at pics of the parts too, some are beefier built, some look fine in drawings but are plastic. Gotta look before we leap now, clearly buyer beware. Compare old Shindiawa breakdowns to newer youll see Echo picked out the highend Shindiawa's and put them in their Echo line & degraded some down to homeowner specials to sell a cheaper line of trimmers. Its Shindiawa in name only sadly. Some are much heavier and really differ as some were old Echo homeowner designs just Echo added in.
