    Just a tip, I can't emphasize this enough, RUN ALL 2 STROKE EQUIPMENT AT FULL THROTTLE!!! I work at a small engine shop, not running them at full throttle will not properly burn the oil, creating a lot of carbon buildup, which will plug the engine up, make it run not at peak performance, and sometimes score the piston and cylinder, making the engine useless

    This is my primary weed eater, picked it up used it for $40 off the cralighlist (was using Echo SRM210 which is my backup). Overall, great consumer weed eater and has great torque. One thing to keep in mind, this weed eater is picky about the spark plug it uses, make sure you use a resistor spark plug (E3.10 or NGK resistor works great). If not engine could bog down on full throttle (even with a new carb, fuel line, air filter, fuel filter, clean spark arrestor). Almost threw it away cause of bogging issue.

    Just saw this comment, sorry. I noticed with tall grass mine bogs down easy. I mow often, so it's not an issue, but with a couple new yards I have I've noticed it more and more. Still stock spark plug - wonder if a change would improve it.

    @@weekendhomeprojects I am a fan of OEM plugs...if I was going to change out say Champion plugs in a Toro powerhead, I would put in NGK the same as in my Echo/Shindaiwa/Maruyama equipment...I will be considering this powerhead for my attachment tools as the Echo PAS units and all new attachments are too pricey for the limited use they get...thanks for this video

    that's stanley black'n'decker for ya.especially after they bought MTD, them and husqvarna are besties. honestly though that 128ld is a weird item, given that husqvarna makes their own kombi system. i guess it doesn't hurt them since they own craftsman, and troy-bilt, AND Dewalt! now all they have to do is buy out TTI and they'll rule the world.

    Got my Husqvarna 128LD last year. No, it’s not a commercial grade trimmer, but mine doesn’t seem to lack any power. I’ve ripped through some pretty heavy weeds and undergrowth in the woods that start at the edge of my backyard. But of course after the first tank of fuel through it, I readjusted the H/L screws on the carb. I also picked up the Poulan Pro edger and mini tiller attachments. Haven’t used the mini tiller yet, but the edger works great. And two weeks ago I made the best purchase for it. The Echo SpeedFeed 400 replacement head. I wanted to keep it all Husqvarna and get their new Rapid Replace head, but there have been too many reports of it breaking early. Do I regret owning my 128LD? Not one bit!

Bought the pole saw attachment for it and had a ball of fun clearing out about 40’ of black locust thicket along a steep bank. Everything from about 2” thick to the size of my forearm. The 128LD needed a little more power, but slow and steady got the job done. I won’t lie, I’ve been looking at the 535LST, but I’ll keep using my 128LD until it gives up the ghost.

  • @weekendhomeprojects

    @weekendhomeprojects

    27 күн бұрын

    I don't know for sure, but this is my guess. I read that the 128L was discontinued and replaced by the 128LD. The 128CD has a curved shaft. "C" for curved? The 128LD has a straight shaft. Maybe the "L" has something to do with "straight"? With both the 128CD and 128LD you can detatch the head and add other attachments such as a hedge trimmer or pole saw. That's likely where the "D" comes into play. My guess is the 128L did not have this option and thus didn't have the "D".

    I'll be trimming a family members yard that hasn't kept it up all year in the coming weeks. I'll make a video and share. The 128 is great for home owners that keep up their yard. The few times I've used it on tall unkept grass it struggles (gets bogged down). Not enough power. If you consistently need to use it for that (i.e. commercial), the 128 probably isn't the best option.

    Just a heads up. I hate mine. I should have gotten the Echo srm225. Yes it doesn't have the attachments but the 128ld lacks power. To the point I almost threw it into the bushes yesterday. It's great for light work. I just retuned the carb.....from the factory some or most are not tuned right... and got the rpms to max out. It still dies down when hitting the tall weeds. Now on the other hand my trusty 25cc craftsman weed eater rips through 1/4" thick branches , weeds, your boots and the whiny neighbor is drowned out by the manly and beastly cackle of the wicked 2 stroke. My wife actually thought the Husky was a weak toy when she heard me use it for the first time LOL. And yes it is a weak toy that I can only use on grass LOL.
