Best Way to Start A NEW YEAR of Off Roading is with Friends and in a Jeep - That is a WAYALIFE
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
There really is no better way to kick off a new year than to do it with good friends, out on the trail and of course, in a Jeep! And, this is something that Cindy and I have been doing, out in the Mojave Desert and for about as long as we can remember. This year, we decided to start our New Year Kick Off Run out in Mesquite, Nevada and work our way back to Las Vegas. As is typically the case, this was an easy but super scenic overland trip that took us up on top of beautiful mesas, down through muddy washes thanks to recent rains and across sand dunes surrounded by fiery red rock canyon walls. Along the way, we stopped over at an old airway beacon or what some refer to as a concrete arrow, an earthworks land art installation called the Double Negative made by Michael Heizer and even got to see ancient petroglyphs left behind by people from long ago. Now, something new we did this year is change up who was leading the group and we did this with the help of GPS coordinates and OnXOffroad and I think everyone had a good time with it. Anyway, we hope you enjoy this video highlighting all the fun we had and hope that you'll be able to join us next year.

@@wayalife oh for sure. My local Off Road park actually has to close trails if we've had too much rain because no matter how built your rig, you just slide off the side lol. Can't go wrong starting the new year off with some good 'ol Moby content! That Jeep has been the template, the blueprint, the mother rig that spawned countless JKs running the same build. There's at least half a dozen manufacturers that have moved mass amounts of inventory simply because Moby was running their product... apologies for the tacky TFATF/Dominic Toretto analogy

LOL - speed is a big part of the fun and everyone always has a great time trying to keep up. That said, nobody is forced to go fast and that's why we radio relay upcoming turns and directions and always wait for the group to catch up at designated points. 😎
I just subscribed to your channel because I was told that you have all kinds of information on Jeeps I also just yesterday bought my first Jeep Wrangler. I was told you have a video on here on how to weigh your tires and calibrate things about tires and wheels. You have as many videos as I do on here and I couldn't find the one I needed. I'm looking to go back to stock tires and wheels to save some weight on Towing behind my RV. Do you have a video like that and if so could you give me either the name or the link to it thank you
Hi! I always see you driving with your steering wheel perfectly straight and smooth. I have a 2020 JLUR with Mopar lift and 35s (planning on 37s soon). I’d love for my steering to be more smooth, it slightly shakes and wonders off if there’s heavy wind. What driving components do you recommend upgrading to solve that. Thanks !
@wayalife
Жыл бұрын
Our Jeep is totally custom with a 60 front axle, EVO high steer and a PSC ram assist. On your JL, is it safe to assume you're running close to 40 psi in your tires? If so, I would try lowering that to something less fuel efficient but way more reasonable like 30 psi. That should help and your tires will even wear more evenly. There are other things you can do but I would start there.
how you wash your Jeep after a day off road specifically below. Can you do a video.
@wayalife
10 ай бұрын
I have a power washer at home and that does wonders. I'll see what I can do though.
Im looking at new tires and have been following your vids. Which tire do you like better, the Nitto or Coopers? And what rims and lift kits are you using on your white JK and JL? Love the setups
@wayalife
Жыл бұрын
Both are good tires. Coopers hook up better on the rocks but their soft rubber compound allows them to chunk more easily and they wear out faster. Maybe for that reason, I'd have to say Nitto as they hold up better and last longer.
When you take these trips can you tell us the altitude changes such as, “ 4,000 ft above sea level to etc…”
@wayalife
Жыл бұрын
This trip was all done within the 1400-2400 feet above sea level range.
Cheers!! Just an awesomely fun video!! But, I do have one question about your air down. You aired down in a parking lot and drove on pavement. What are your limits for this? How low can you go... And how far??
@wayalife
Жыл бұрын
The hotel was just a couple of miles away from the trailhead so it was just as easy to air down there. That said, I personally wouldn't hesitate to drive over 100 miles on 16 psi if I had to. A good tire like the kind that Nitto makes will hold up just fine. But, they would wear poorly and so I typically don't.
Hey quick question, what happened to the JKX or JLX? Does Mel still run them? Love the Videos!
@wayalife

They are now called the Dirt Experience and yes, Mel still does them with Nitto.

@@wayalife awesome! I really want to buy another Jeep, build it, then put it to the test somewhere away from Michigan. Selling my JK was a mistake!
Love your vids! Been following for some time now; I believe way back in 2009! I was back in HS now I've got a descent job and own a JL! Transitioning out of motorcyle riding (its just crazy dangerous) to full time driving the Jeep. Any recommendations for setup?? I have the Rubicon 4 door and want to get bigger tires and lift. Glad to hear you enjoy our videos and wow, that you've been watching as long as you have! Congratulations on your new Jeep and to answer your question, I suppose it depends on how much bigger of a tire you're wanting to run.

@@ape_rider Assuming you have 4.10 gears, you can get by without a re-gear and 37's. But, you WILL feel a loss in power and you WILL loose 8th gear on anything but a flat highway and without a headwind. Not that big of a deal though. Also, the setup you're wanting will work well.
I long for the day my Arizona Jeep is not muddy,
Bought our 1st jlu Rubi. Love it! Haven’t been off reading yet. :( Can I off-road with stock tires and what do you air down to? Thanks!

@wayalife
Жыл бұрын
@Karen Mcclain Congratulations to you on your new Jeep! Of course you can off-road with stock tires. As far as airing down goes, it really depends on what you'll be doing. For what we were doing in this video, 16-18 psi will be more than enough to soften up your ride. On the rocks, you can go a bit lower but just a bit. Here is a video showing a stock Sport to give you an idea of what you can do with your Jeep 😎kzread.info/dash/bejne/qIWMmLh-gqybj5M.html

I think you'll have a great time.
How much would a Jeep JK Unlimited cost me, realistically, if I want a trail beast somewhat comparable to these wayalife ones, lifted on 40s and not too prone to break down? I'm willing to buy something secondhand and upgrade it gradually. I'm located in Sweden. If you know any good shops around here that build these I would appreciate any pointers. Thanks.
@wayalife
Жыл бұрын
The used car market is cooling a bit but people still want stupid money for a JK these days. Even stock, you're looking at $30k or more for a decent one. Built up, more than double that and most are poorly built or at least, in my opinion. If you can find a good build, you're looking at $75k or more.
Question: how fast can you go when you air down?
@wayalife
Жыл бұрын
I suppose it depends on how far you aired down and what kind of terrain you're on. For what we were doing here, 15-18 psi is all you need to go down to soften up your ride and if you have beadlocks, it'll hold up just fine at 75 mph or more.
