Just changed my inner tube on my tiller. Took 15 minutes and no fowl language. What I would advise is use three 6 inch c clamps to help hold the tire from popping back up. As you pry the tire bead onto the rim keep adding c clamps to squeeze the tire to hold it in place as you move your screw driver around. Lubricate the tire bead with any kind of oil. This helps the tire bead to slide down your screw driver. Went faster and smoother than expected. Hope this helps fellow DIY.

@@muffs55mercury61 I guess I'm just lucky to live in Idaho. Our tire shops go out of the way to help customers. Maybe it's because I live in a rural area where the tendency is to always help out others whenever you can. Besides, it's great marketing tool for them since the next time I need to buy tires for one of my vehicles, they will be the first place I consider.

@@rvalens2 Yes rural areas are like that. I live in one. There is a small shop that would likely do it for me but I'd feel a little out of place if I were to ask him to mount tires that I didn't buy from him. He is a used tire seller and doesn't get wholesale discounts from tire makers so he doesn't deal in new tires.

Another tip is with the tubes I got the valve stem on the tube leans a little in the direction it needs to go into the hole on the rim. I inflate the tube a little and mark the intertube on the side the valve stem leans. I didn't do that the first time so when I aired up the tire the valve stem popped out of the hole and went to the other side of the rim. I had to break it all down and turn the tube in the other direction then it work perfectly.

I went through three, new inner tubes, somehow puncturing them on the step at 3:46. The tools I used must have punctured the tube, as I was fighting to get that last step done. I was so careful, so careful, yet wasted my time and money. As I watched this video at this step, I was thinking he was going to do the same. It seems to me that at that step the rim needs to be elevated so that the tire could ride to the inner part of the rim so that it makes more slack. Since you don't know where the tub is sitting inside there when doing that. It would seem that a more blunt device be used to pry the tire over the rim in that step. The other thing I did was completely remove the tire to cut off the 2 patches I had put in previously. I also put in a 5.5 inch wide by 4 feet scrap of vinyl flooring to protect the tube from all the things that try to poke through when mowing. The tubes that I purchased were 15 x 6, but the tubes are way small to fill in all that space in the tire.

Nicely done. You might mention the need to inspect the tire as it may have a nail/thorn/foreign object that punctured it still stuck in it that needs to be removed before replacing/repairing the inner tube. Careful not to jab or tear your skin as you feel for the foreign object. I speak from painful experience on this subject. Cheers all.

I checked where it was leaking in case something is poking through the tire. In my case it was just dry, cracked on the tread so I ran a tube. I broke the bead with a vise. I removed any weld splatter on the inside of the wheel. Ran a peice of duct tape all around the inside of the rim so the inner tube doesn't rub on anything I missed. I used baby powder to make things slide. Wiped everything clean. Had to use vise grip also on valve stem until installed and filled.

My tire was shot, so I ordered a new one from Walmart, (and a tube too) and damn these are hard to get off the rim lol! And even harder to get the brand new one back on haha! I was dripping sweat just getting the old one off ha, I was like hmm, I should check youtube for ideas to make it easier to get on the new one. One thing I'll have to mention, on MY lawnmower, the rim is slightly smaller on one side, (the side with the valve) about a 1/4 inch smaller diameter, so that helps a little to get it on! I didn't think I'd be able to get this damn thing on haha! And yes get the smaller side in first then put on the tube. Like he did. Lube would definitely help. I thought of using some soapy water, (and then letting it dry first) idk.

just like automotive rims- they have a depressed well where you can place the bead to give more room to slip the tire over the rim. there's also a hump which keeps the beads out of there during tire failure in motion. look for that depression in your rim.

Should have taken the wheel rim completely off and filed the welding splatter smooth . They weld two halves together and leave the welding splatter there because the tires are tubeless , you put a tube in there and it rubs on the splatter and goes flat , don't ask me how I know lol

I once had a new valve stem on an inner tube get ruined because of the sharp edge of the rim hole, and all the fiddling with it being held by vice grips.

I know it varies but I was always tought to Put little air in the tube and see how the stem is offset. Generally I have to install the blue line towards the side without the stem.

That’s great tips. I found a better way than a tube. I got tired of tires leaking so I put expanding foam in my tires. Best thing I’ve ever done. 👍😁

Go to Walmart in the automotive section and get the foam for tires. Follow the instructions on the can. Pretty easy. 👍😁

I would of sanded the rust and looked for any foreign objects that might be in the tire or floating around but good job none the less.

When did you put the other side of the tire on the rim? Before or after you put the tube in? Not so easy!
