Best Value FPV Goggles?? Skyzone 02X and 02C First Impressions

Ғылым және технология

Here are some of my thoughts on the Skyzone 02X goggles. In this review, I also weigh some of the pros and cons of dual-screen goggles vs. box goggles and why I would argue that neither is better or worse than the other. If you guys enjoy it, please remember to give this video a like! It's a small action that makes a huge difference for me!

Update: I must have missed this earlier, but I just learned that the Skyzone 02C's are different in that they do not have the front-facing camera AND they do not support 3D video. I'm sure that won't matter to most of you but it's definitely something to consider!

Throwing away the stock anntena's is not a good idea if you fly tiny whoops with linear anntenas.. They actually work pretty well on my 02C's & on my EV800D's when flying drones with linear anntena's.

The EV800d has multiple functions for the buttons on the top - reviewing DVR footage in the goggles means pressing the SRC Menu - CH+ - then a combination of the buttons to cycle through.play/stop! I think this is normal for goggles in general to keep them simple

Dji is alot more of an expense than just the goggles. The goggles are the main purchase but you have to remember that the point is to use them with the dji air unit which adds extra cost to your setup. A good pair of analog goggles will be alot more universal and easier to use with analog drone setups which are still way more common

Hi Matt, I have a set of these Skyzone 02X goggles and am having fits trying to figure out how to make them start recording, stop , or playback recordings thru the DVR As shown in your review at Time 12:03.. When I try to start a recording generally I get into a LOT of trouble and the screen goes to static or else the Front camera turns On.. so I loose the drone as it crashes instead. Is there any reliable way to start recordings before I ARM and take off? I press the REC button and that doesn't usually toggle the red camera RECording icon on.. or start the record timer with it.. I have occasionally seen this icon and timer for brief periods of 3 seconds then it goes OFF. but generally I can't turn recordings ON or OFF.. Much less get it to play back. How do you do this please?

Total agreement with being a little anti-big box. As a possible new entrant to fpv, i can’t do the box on my head. In fact, i’m even having a pause with the beautiful, cool, sporty slim goggles with SPACE CADET ANTENNAS sticking out. While i’m at it, the boom box radio controllers seem so yesterday. My possible entrance will be helped with small, cool, easily packable, very travel-friendly goggle, radio and sub-250g cinedrone. Yes, i’m losing out in my wait, but i see the industry is new and growing. Maybe in 2022 i will enter.

I’m new to FPV, trying to decide between box (fat shark scout) or dual screen (sky02O) My flying style will likely be free style / cinematic instead of racing - so I do appreciate the larger FOV from box goggles. However, lots of reviews claim that the box goggles (esp the scout) that do not have adjustable focal points, could result in eye strain.

The goggles have to be plugged into a battery at all times in order to be powered up so you can't charge them. They have to be plugged in. They come with the cable to do that but no battery. You can use any battery with an xt60 connector at the end, including one of your flight packs (drone batteries). This is what I do. @@revirb9049 it depends on how aggressive you are flying. for instance if you are racing super fast, your voltage will drop into the 19 volt range for a few seconds. But if you are cruising you shouldnt go past 21. This is because of the battery sag , the voltage is inconsistant. But a good way to tell is to get into a of hover for a few seconds, and if your voltage gets to the mid 21's you should probably land. Because then it will probably around storage when it is resting. This is just a technique i use, because as a fast racer it can vary a lot

the amount of subscribers just isn't good enough, you probably spent a lot on the camera, and I got to say, it's really really good! Im still on too much of a budget to afford this, but one day, there may be even cheaper goggle better than this! tech will always get cheaper at one point.

in the cheaper route, theres plenty of options. eachine ev100d are like 100 and are dual screens like tis but i hear its 27 degree fov and super small screens, also no dvr or diversity. then theres the hawkeye little pilot vr, a box goggle type goggle that uses mirrors to show u the screen, and has diversity but no dvr, its $80. thats the sub 100 range. if goin under 200, theres the fxt viper v2, which are the same as the little pilot but it has a dvr and better quality but its $180. a used pair of auomway commander v1 can be found for around $130 and i hear they are great beginner goggles. alot of reviews say its not that good because it released at like $200 and at 200, its pretty bad. but if u paying 130 then its pretty good. oh i forgot theres also the fatshark recon v3 which are beginner box goggles for $90 but i hear they suck. then theres the fatshark scout; box goggles with single antenna at $200. the scounts i hear are great goggles but since theres no diversity, range might be an issue later on. also the dvr on the scounts are 60fps hd, and are better than every dvr in fatsharks all the way up to hdo lol then the next tier are these skyzones 02c and 02x, which are like $270 and the fatshark attitude v5 at 300. i saw a guy selling a pair of skyzone 030 with battery and module for 350 so i had to jump on that deal lol but if i never saw him, i would have gotten attitude v5. i contemplated ALOT on which to buy between skyzone 02c and attitude v5. in the end, soo man ppl said that fatshark has the besyt customer srvice. and at the $300+ range, you want good support cuz your goggles are gonna last you YEARS. with that said, the lower quality attitude v5 would have been my choice. yea skyzone kills attitude in screen resolution and features tho. just what i leanred from a month of researching lmao im new to this hobby

this style goggle will not work for folks with limited vision in one eye. If you have this problem look at the Viper style goggles. with the eye to screen distance is increase with mirrors, yes literally. So they work with glasses - very well. They are very lite in weight. you don't have any adjustments for eye spacing etc. etc. They are very very clear. AND you can glance down at your conrroller, for example. Finally - NO fogging. and NO fan! AND this style can be used with a 5.8 monitor and with Wifi/Cell phone monitors. etc. richard@rlstuart.com
