Thanks for your comment Michael. If someone wants me to sell him/her one of these I have no problem, but I imagine the cost of shipping isn't very cheap. If you know somebody with the proper tools I'm sure s/he will have no problem making one.

great idea but, now how to put them spaced perfectly in a straight line?

The upholstering jobs I had to do, and made me make the tool, didn't come out very straight I must say. A re-upholstering job with existing holes affected the straight line. With new wood I suppose one should draw a straight line in the wood, and follow the line. I'm no expert in this trade. I'll have a look around, maybe there is a trick of the trade with this.

An experienced upholsterer may only need to adjust 1 nail here in there. You would use a wooden drift so as not damage the nail. They also sell a plastic nail holder that holds the nails in a straight line. That is fine for a beginner but a pro wouldn't waste his time. If you want to try this for free take a piece of hard cardboard cut it out with a handle and put 5 or so nails in a straight line through the cardboard , about .5" from the end. Remove the nails and use a scissors to cut from the nail holes to the edge .5" away so that you can pull the cardboard out after you get the nails started. Anyone that is stretching the fabric and trying to put in a decorative nail to hold the fabric in place has already failed.

Does decorative nails (tacks) with screw-like shafts, instead of the nail-like shafts exist? If so, can you provide me with their name please?

No, never heard of or seen anything like that. However, there are some confirmat screws that fit plastic caps on the head that can be decorative and hide the head of the screw, but they are much bigger than tacks.

Hello Calvin. I suggest you make your own, it's easy. I allow coping my creations if it's for personal use not for commercial use. That's the object of these videos. I could sell you one but mailing it to you might come out a bit expensive.
