In my case I gently filed the entire surface of my 2 big toe nails, thin. I then clipped them short, waited for them to grow out, clipping as needed. They grew out without any signs of the fungus. I thought of this, I didn't read about or hear anything about this way to take care of it. My motivation was if I eliminate the darkness contributing to the fungus survival it just might die ! I'm Sooo Smart 🤓 I tried so many things but refused to take drugs after reading about the side effects. It's been many years years fungus free, after suffering 13 yrs. It's free nothing to loose 😊

I have learned so much from this video and the comments. I did a 15 min foot soak in vinegar and water. I then took a pumice stone and rubbed it over my foot and I took a nail file and spent several seconds thinning out the nail and then scraping debris away from the edges. I also very gently cut away some thickened yellow white skin under where I cut the nail really short. I then dried the foot with a hairdryer, applied tea tree oil to the affected toes, Canesten cream to the foot, and dried with a hairdryer once again. The foot looks much better after the mechanical scraping and gentle cutting of thickened skin, after the foot soak. I am so very far from healed, for sure, but I feel a new energy of hope to heal this affliction of more than 30 years. My left foot is beige and healthy, I am grateful to say. I know that I must keep this routine up for several months before I can expect total healing, but I am so happy to find that with consistent care, there is a low cost solution to this embarrassing problem that is so depressing at the same time. I have never been able to find advice like this from any local doctor, and I tried some anti fungal things and it made it slightly better only. I did not know it is safe to wear down the nail with a file to gently expose the fungus and force the affected area to come into contact with the anti fungal such as iodine or tea tree oil or whatever. Thank you so much for all of this affordable and actionable advice.

I really appreciate you putting up content doc thank you! Ive watched several of them and the theme is constantly you giving low cost options that are effective for treatment. I went to a podiatrist for toe nail fungus after fighting it for over a year aggressively and i am on a very low carb diet and very active. First thing he said when entering the room was he wanted do bunion surgery on my feet for bunions i didnt even know i had. While i now agree i may have a mild case of bunion i am asymptomatic and in my opinion corrected the issue that caused them a few years ago which was wearing the wrong shoes for years. I now wear altra's or topos because i have wide feet. Watching your video on bunions made me see that surgery can be a long commitment and one that i cant afford to take unless its absolutely necessary. I run about six miles a day and train with high internsity almost daily for sport and i have no orthopedic issues with my feet. Your video on that helped me start thinking of other options. As far as the fungus content in this video i am gonna give these methods a shot. Thanks again!

Great tip and wish I’d known when I had it. My method, I filed my nail and sprayed white vinegar on it at least a few times a day until the new toenail grew back in around 9 months. The new nail and surrounding skin looked super healthy. Also, I don’t have a lot of added sugar in my diet and try to avoid gluten.

I was surprised that you didn't mention vinegar to treat fungus. It actually kills better than bleach, which I wouldn't use on my skin under any circumstance. ACV can be taken as a supplement to help internally and white vinegar added to a foot bath 4 oz. per gal of water can have a bit of salts added to it too.

I had fungal infection in almost all of my toenails and tried many of those commercial sprays, it only worked if you apply it intensively 3 times a day for many months and if you stop using it will grow back, it will never kill the fungus completely. So with that you are forced to use it your whole life. I did also try teatree and saw a better and faster healing but still did not cure it completely. I then tried my doctor to prescribe me those oral medications but she was hesitant but finally she did give me it. What i understand is those sideeffects are rare and I myself didnt have any sideeffects. It healed very quickly and it has completely erradicated the fungus, its now been a year and it hasnt come back. Got beautifull toenails now that I dont need to hide. Doctors shouldnt be that hesitant if it can cure many people with lifetime discomfort and pain with only a slight possibility of short term sideaffects.

I don't expect my infection to ever go away. It's an issue of ongoing maintenance. When I don't keep it up I regret it. But once I start back up to a daily routine, it gets so much better right away. Right now I'm soaking in listerine, blow dry, clean out debris, file, and put on an otc compound. Twice a day every day. No polish. Hopefully I keep it up for a few months.

I developed bad fungus on all my toe nails about 10 years ago from wearing work boots 10 hrs a day. I’ve always been extremely fit and active and never pre-diabetic. So for me the cause must’ve been the boots. I’ve tried every home remedy under the sun including a strict zero carb diet over the last 5 years and absolutely nothing worked. Finally saw a doctor about it recently and was prescribed terbinafine. It’s terrifying to me but it starting working almost immediately. Praying I get through it without any complications.

I placed a comment above. I've used terpentine/white spirit, it is the only thing that works for me. I put some in a clean nail polish bottle and applied a thin layer with the little brush on my nails every day (after the shower, when your feet are dry) for 6 months, after that I did it every other day, then after a few months twice a week. You have to be consistent, until the nail has completely renewed. Wear clean, cotton socks every day (less sweating and they absorb better), and after you washed them inside out put them in boiling water for a minute. I bought a lot of cheap socks, because the boiling water will eventully ruin the elastics/lycra in the socks. Keep the nails as short as possible and remove dead skin with a pumice, because the fungus loves keratin. Now I know terpentine isn't the most natural product, but I've had no side effects at all. Many anti fungal products contain terpenes. Since fungus is a very tiny plant, and plants die from terpentine/white spirit, the fungus will also die from it.

My case is really mild and maybe it’s placebo, but I did Vicks only once and my feet looked a lot lighter. It was a lot less noticeable. So I’m going to keep trying that. I did the bleach ones as well so maybe I will throw that in the rotation. Even though I’m pretty sure that’s illegal because it says on the bottle that you were not supposed to use it other than what it’s directed for. But that will be our secret! Just have to test your limits. Also, I heard someone say that Vicks doesn’t actually fix the problem, but it just gets rid of the discoloration. I hope that’s not the case.

Toenail fungus is persistent stuff. I can't take terbifine, but the one time I did before i had to stop to avoid liver issues, it worked nearly instantaneously. If you can tolerate it, don't mess with holistic treatments, I'd say. Yes, it's not cheap, but wow did it work. I'm a little skeptical of diet as a cause, but what I've found is somewhat effective is a vinegar/baking soda soak followed by tea tree oil. That at least keeps the itching down.. I've also noticed that sunlight definitely helps. My toes like being in the sun at the beach...

Ahhh yes it is my big toes. This was the most informative and comforting video on this topic. Albeit a bit long winded and all over the place. I don’t need to know diabetes rates in India. There is a lot of medical advice available on this subject which often omits the part that socks can play - whichever treatment you elect to pursue. Most people wash socks (with other garments) using biological washing detergent at 30°C. Correct me if I am wrong, but I dont think that is hot enough to kill these fungal spore so the cycle of infection may not be eliminated ? Therefore I have decided to soak my socks separately in a bucket of solution for several days before rinsing & adding them to a "general wash". ( The Chinese routinely wash underwear & socks separately from other items). My chosen soak solution is a combination of white vinegar & disinfectant. Warning: dont mix bleach & white vinegar - it produces invisible toxic chlorine gas ! Any suggestions on this theme?

I've had nail fungus on my nail for years. I saw a video on KZread a while back that said to apply "Decolorized Iodine Tincture" every morning and sometimes in the evening! I've been using this "Decolorized Iodine" for about six months now. My nails are about 1/2 grown out now and the new nail growth is totally normal, no fungus at all! Plus I stopped wearing socks to keep my feet warm when I sleep. Hope this helps! I got one called "GERMA, Iodine Tincture Decolorized, IODO, BLANCO" off Amazon, pretty cheap!

So your feet are just frozen? I wear socks. The only part of me that gets cold at night. Considering I only sleep 2-3hrs if I'm lucky, I'm not going to stay awake by my cold feet. I live in open toed Birkenstocks, so that's not the problem. I'm trying iodine, Vicks next. Soaking in bleach H2o didn't do anything. Neither did spraying acv. Or 2 bottles each of 2 different meds. If this doesn't work or at least look like it, I'll look into having it removed. Not blowing up my liver on oral drugs. Even tho I've been protecting my liver with Milk Thistle for decades.

I've had fungus in only my big toes since 2006. Thank you, wallmat pedicure . In 2008 the podiatrist removed both of my toenails, said it would take care of fungus and ingrown nails. Two years later my nails grew back with both issues. Ugh. They are so ugly!

I had the issue for 2 years. Soaked my foot in white vinegar for 2 hours, 2 to 3 times a week and it's 90% gone. I might actually make a KZread video as I've kept a record of it throughout. Taken about 5 months and counting but anyway thought I'd share.

Wow, learned a whole lot from this video. I also use a powered file with various tips to grind down my problem toenails and keep them short. It's not even possible on a couple of nails to use normal clippers or scissors as they've been repeatedly injured and how grow straight upward. Your explanation of blood flow really helps me understand this issue. The MD I consulted said the issue was fungus but from your video and others I see that it may be from repeated injuries and ill-fitting shoes, perhaps in addition to fungus. I've battled "athlete's foot" for most of my life. Was also glad to see your mention of bleach soaks, I learned about that from a veterinary student, and that remedy has helped me far more than only the topical sprays and creams. I don't recommend it for everyone as you can burn yourself, you need to know what you are doing, but I was desperate for something that works. That is not a 100% cure but it keeps it in remission for much longer. I still need to use creams and sprays on the feet. One thing about fungal toe infections, they can very easily spread to other parts of the body. From scratching after having first contracted the fungus in Jr. High phys ed, it spread to my fingers. That's why this is not just the mere annoyance that many people claim, you must be careful with contagion by touching. It can live on clothing, carpeting, etc. for months and longer. I've always feared of getting it in some place that can't easily be treated, even around the eyes for instance, and so this condition has basically shaped much of my life. It takes time out of a life for the special care every day. Not to mention the hundreds and thousands of dollars on OTC products that do not produce a lasting cure. I've never tried internal medications for fear of potential liver effects.

Am also with you 1000% on your diet rec's and info about sugar. Have always concentrated on whole foods of the fruit/vegetable family and tried to avoid sugar whenever possible. Nevertheless, I was susceptible to picking up this infection, perhaps due to low immunity from stress.

Great insight. You talked about sunlight as a great therapy. I would be curious your thoughts on the uv light therapy devices that clip on your toes and their effectiveness compared to sunlight. Thanks again
