Regarding eye sting, there is some research in Japan that concludes eye sting from sunscreen may be related to differences between the pH level of the product and the person's tears, and because the pH level of tears can vary dramatically from person to person, you can't rely on testimonials from other people to determine whether or not a sunscreen will cause your own eyes to sting. Personally, I wear contact lenses and have found that they protect my eyes from all manner of eye sting, including when I'm chopping onions, so I've never actually experienced eye sting from any sunscreen. I'd link to a discussion of the Japanese research but I found it on the Asian Beauty subreddit, and KZread hates Reddit links, 😅.

Yeah that's why I've started sharing my thoughts on eye stings but I try to remind people that eye sting is subjective! I personally find that I have very sensitive eyes so what stings my eyes may not be an issue for other people!

I _love_ that you include the relevant info like your skin type and different use cases. Great review, girl! I have the same skin type so I'm looking forward to trying this :) (I'm using the Skin Aqua Gel Gold but it doesn't control my oils at all (in summer). (But texture ✔ and fragrance-free ✔) Oh and that purple-pink scarf you're wearing looks so cute on you.

Thanks you! This one is a lot more "oil controlling" than skin aqua but you don't get as much moisture (which you might need in the winter). Hope you end up liking it 😊

Last year, I decided not to buy any sunscreen that's less than 70ml, because that's roughly a one month supply if I'm using the proper amount on my face and neck. This has cut out a lot of trendy, popular sunscreens, especially K-beauty products, which I usually love but tend to top out at 50ml. But Japanese drugstore brands have really come to the rescue with some lovely products at very reasonable prices! The finish of the Suncut UV Perfect Gel is particularly nice, and I absolutely have to have a super waterproof sunscreen in the summer because it's so crazy humid where I live. Very happy with my purchase. 😊❤

The eye sting is annoying but not as dangerous as neutrogena sunscreens 😭. I used the essence version of the golden bottle, I love it. Btw, the percentages of UV filters have nothing to do with SPF/PA rating. That’s formulation. I love this sunscreen.

  • @benenon

My personal review of this sunscreen is I have combination sensitive skin, I don't like the sunscreen cos it is too thick and sticky when drying up. Also the golden colour makes my already sunburned-toned skin look darker. It also gives this feel like iv got dust and sand on my face after some time. And it gives me the feeling that I should wash it off my face. I was told it is good for oily skin but for me oily mostly in my T zone area it isn't good.

@@benenon girl! I’m currently wearing the Eucerin Oil Control Dry Touch Cream to Gel SPF 50, and I think it might replace my all time favorite chemical one (Skin Aqua). The eye stinging is barely there. My eyes are not watering. Andddd it’s more mattifying without feeling uncomfortable. I’m sitting in New Orleans heat and humidity right now and I am pleased with how this is holding up. If it doesn’t break me out or pill too bad, I’ll be changing up lol.

Totally understand your concern. The spf failures have occurred in many countries including US-based products. This specific sunscreen doesn't have anything listed for third party testing. If the product is still on the market, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I have tons of other US and European sunscreen reviews on my channel if you are looking for other options 😊

3:36 to me this is nothing less than dewy to oily. This cannot be called matte. To be called matte it will have to stop the shine and make it appear dry. Again disappointed. Why is it impossible to get a dry finish sunscreen? Why all sunscreens designed for dry and normal skin?
