I just picked up a Vanford 3000. I love it. I have it paired with a Megabass Levante. It's my favorite pairing of all my combos. Super light. Thanks for the video.

@@MattLunaFishing Bass Pro. I had some gift cards from my 50th Bday so i spent them on the reel. I typically wouldn't be able to afford a $200+ reel. I love the reel. drag is smooth as far as i can tell from the Lake Mead dinks. Gonna go to Mojave this weekend and maybe get something better.

Very happy with my Vanfords. I also like the bigger handles. Hoping to just to get the 3000 knob & cap. Not a fan of the giant ball knobs. Easy upgrade if I can find those pieces for a reasonable price.

I dont like the ball knobs either. I like a bigger handle than is stock on here though.

what's fishing rod yer using?

I have a 3000 Vanford and love it, impressive engineering from materials, to features, and ergonomics. I fish Jetties here in Houston area. Paired with my 9 foot Shimano DiaLuna Carbon Fiber Rod I bought from Japan, it's a super light setup and can cast what seems like a mile..

Hi Matt, I saw that you have this reel in 2500HG and the Daiwa Tatula LT in the 3000 size. Which reel do you like better?

I think they are very comparable and you can’t go wrong either way. I like the smallness of the 2500 but also like the higher retrieve speed on the 3000. I think going bigger than a 3000 is too much.

You’re welcome. The fluoro leader makes it less visible to fish and the braid helps maximize sensitivity of feeling a bite! Please go through the link I gave you. I’ll get credit if you use that link!

I use 10lb braid and typically 6lb fluoro Braid omnia.direct/M8N49e Fluoro omnia.direct/nKoMV7

Heloo Matt. I need some help about buying vanford. Well, Im trout angler and I fishing on smaller rivers and creeks with small spinners lures and jiggs. Sometimes I also go to the lake or even bigger river ( also trout fishing) and I fishing from the shore and than i need longer cast. On the rivers i use ul gear (rod 2.10 meters 1-6 grams lure weight ), on the lakes it will be light gear (rod 2.1 m 3-15 lure weight). Well i think about vanford 2000 shg but because of the some lake fishing also about 2500shg which is bigger reel. I m worried about 2000shg( which fit better on my gear) is it will be enough for some long casts . Thank you and Im sorry because everything is confusing but i mean you know about fishing sick hahaha.

For most casts the 2000 is going to be fine unless you’re using heavy line.

I’m not sure. I guess you could try. I don’t know if there would be issues with there or not. I probably wouldn’t do it myself though.

I’ve never used the ballistic. I have used the Vanford. The Vanford is a good reel. The Tatula mq lt is a good reel too. You probably can’t go wrong either way you go.

I know this comment is going to get a lot of hate but hear I go. The Vanford is overpriced. It’s a great reel but you can get just as good of reels for $100 -150 from Quantum, Lew’s, Diawa and PFlueger.

I don’t I agree with it being over priced. Typically it’s all about the weight and drag when it gets to higher end reels. Keeping weight down while having durability is costly, and also having components that hold up and work the split second you need them too is huge. A lot of lower priced reels may feel great in your hand, but when you need that drag to go, it will stick and then the line breaks.

@@MattLunaFishing all I know is that I can get similar features and quality for $100 less with Quantum, Lew’s, and PFlueger. Are Shimano reels bad? No, but when you can spend $100 less and get similar features I’ll go there. Heck I can spend $34 on a Walmart brand (Ozark Trail) and get a 7.2oz reel with 8 sealed bearing, thick one piece bail wire, rubberized cork knob, aluminum handle and spool. Does it feel as nice as a $200 Shimano, no but is that $200 Shimano worth $170 more? Heck no.

People can tout features but it boils down to performance. I don’t look at features much. Features don’t always equal performance. Features are marketing in most circumstances. I’m not sponsored by any reel companies. I’m just putting out a review i think is accurate and sharing my experience when it comes to higher and lower end reels I’ve owned over the years. Hopefully, the reels you’ve bought treat you well! In my opinion, Spinning reels are one to spend a little more on. Casting reels you can get away with going cheaper and not having as many issues. Partly because you’re using heavier weighted lures and heavier sizes line on a casting reel.

@@MattLunaFishing my experience with these much cheaper and similar speced reels compared to much more expensive Shimano’s and Diawa’s are that they feel very similar to a $200 Shimano. I am not trying to take anything away from your video or your experience. Just trying to inform those that there are other options out there that are just as good for far less.

I got One .. its like balliistic from daiwa to wimpy .. vanford is nice reel overall BUT it gets loose in rotorhouse syftet är year cnat handlle small blades .. lineroller is okej BUT Still noisy.. and its a shame Shimano dont send bantam oil with THE reel
