@@pigs6486 Don't know for sure, but there's an 18 TAS floating around that uses faster strategies and still got a high decimal 18. So I'd imagine this has to be an incredibly high 19. 18 should not ever be possible for an actual player and we'll see if 19 ever even gets tied.
Thanks for the mention of the 0:23 untied on here, even though Boss tied it so quickly lol. I put in a fair amount of hours for 0:21 between 2015 and 2017 but just couldn't clutch a run. The 4th camera angle is brutal when at that speed, the lens faces away from you vs toward you.

The 20 and 19 runs were surprisingly exactly what I was thinking. "Can you drive by that corridor cam? Can you luck out one pistol shot on the last camera?" Sometimes it's the simplest option. But the most difficult one. Of course some extra tech in to cement it at 19. Imagine doing your own personal hoard.
Ace is in a league of his own!

Always great to see a new Goose video, especially one marking such a remarkable achievement. Amazing to see Ace continue to push the limits of the game.
Just watched this and the skill that Ace demonstrated was absolutely mind blowing. Those camera shots were nutty! The run was just SO clean!
Well, that was amazing from Ace and I thought this video was so damn concise and yet thorough. Thanks for carrying the torch, Goose and remarkable this just keeps happening!

Oh man, always great when you cover a new WR.. excited for the next 25 min 🎉
HOLY SHIT THAT WAS INCREDIBLE, RAYAN IS A GOLDENEYE SUPERSTAR Dude, I've seen many speedruns, but it's rare that I have that much experience playing the games or levels I watch to the extent that I can really grasp how awesome a run is. I appreciate them, but I don't often really fully "get" it, nor have much experience trying things like what I see, but this level is something I've done many times, not speedrunning, but going pretty quickly, also shooting at those freaking cameras. I gasped at that second camera shot, and literally screamed at the third one lol. I had to watch the rest later because I passed out. Seriously though, mindblowing stuff.
Between you and Karl covering it, this record has me pumped. Unless something absolutely game breaking is discovered I have an extremely hard time believing this record will ever be tied let alone beaten. Keep up the good work Goose! I always love to see more Goldeneye videos

He started when he was around 10 years old. He was getting some great Perfect Dark records at the time. He went on a tear, cementing himself as the best when he was roughly 12 y/o. This will probably upset so newer runners, but it's nice to see the OGs like yourself and Ace still holding so much record ground in this game. It is a love of having started the game from when it came out and playing it conventionally for enjoyment, to later wanting to optimize the game. It makes a huge difference and the anecdotal evidence speaks for itself.

Right now he is champion by 100 points despite having several really easy records he can grind out. His Runway 00 time is 37 and he could easily get that to 34 (Bossman's time and nowhere near the record) gain 25 points and make 1:10:59 from that one stage alone. Hoarding seems to slow down progress and competition, i don't get the charm of hoarding tbh
@logasoba
Жыл бұрын
most speedrunning communities are anti hoarding, goldeneye is a very rare exception
@chunktuff
Жыл бұрын
@@logasoba I imagine it's because of how long the game goes back into history. It goes back before you could reasonably upload or even record everything you got. Hoarding and then dumping a bunch of times all at once was likely just how things were then. There's a lot of work involved in getting it all prepared and uploaded even now, but far more so back then. I don't much like hoarding either, but it's often not intentional, and I do very much appreciate the cultural difference on display here when many others seem so similar now. It often happens that new players come into an ancient community and change it irreparably, and it's a shame every time it happens.
@TF2Starlight

Goldeneye is the exception
That is incredible, it seems to be a perfectly played and mastered stage. No time save and just incredible skill with the camera shots. I imagine maybe you could maybe get a few more frame perfect movements with tas, but nothing remarkably better, I mean everything seemed to be played near perfect as is or maybe even perfect. Unless some new strat were ever to be revealed. I had always wondered how many levels this game might get perfect masteries of and be unable to achieve a world record again in it. It's still pretty cool how much this game is just explored in incredible proofs of concept and strategy.
When you said bunker 1 secret agent I legitimately audibly said “what”
Yeah I'd say I agree. A 2 second untied would be crazy on something like Silo, Control, or Train...but on a stage as short as *BUNKER* is out of control Ace man I tell ya, he's truly on another level
Watching the runs side-by-side runs is useful.
The one amazing shot is the camera down the hall, I'm sure that was the biggest focal point of every run and practice, I'm sure this was never intended by the game developers, I feel this is the most skilled speed run of any stage in any game period
Awesome lore episode
I watch speed run videos but I could never be a speed run record pusher. It’s quite literally insane to dedicate that much effort and time to hone an extremely niche skill for a decades old video game, it’s hundreds of hours (thats days or weeks worth of time) but kudos to the people that do. I’ll just watch the little 12 min videos when I’m bored at work lol

Honestly felt his previous record was the limit. After I saw this in my subscription box I honestly was shocked. Amazing, but never say never. I wouldn't be suprised if someone out there in the next decade finds a way. Then again if it is indeed possible, it's probably Ace himself.
Im so freakin excited for this 🙂
I know I keep leaving comments, but this was so awesome, I just wanted to say that Goldeneye has the group of elite runners which is the toughest to say who's the greatest. There's a good amount of totally amazing runners, like you Goose, and looking at who's "the greatest", it's so tough. Jobst, Bosshart, Clemens, Rutzou, Ace, I've wavered back and forth between all of them, and probably others. I think I might be able to officially say Ace is the greatest.
Back when Ace got the 20, my mind was blown and I was sure that it couldn't get any faster. Never thought it would be beaten, let alone tied. I guess if anyone was gonna do it, it's the man himself.
I Antonio Banderas computered when I saw that time reveal. Woooweee man. I still need to take a bit before I un pause
