Dude the borla xr-1 makes the exhaust sound so much better I got a 2010 Silverado 2 door 4x4 with a K&N CAI, pacesetter longtubes, no cats, borla and a 5 inch exhaust tip out the side and it is dumb loud but sounds great !!

I how many different shots and angles you always get. From different views like inside and out. You put a lot of time into your content and we appreciate it!

Nice man, I have the borla atak with the dual rear exit black chrome tips on my 15 Silverado z71 and love it. Sounds pretty much like yours. I have to turn the radio down almost every time I leave a stoplight just so I can listen to it, puts a smile on my face every time

I just put the duel borla attack on my 14 chevy and it sounds amazing. Friggin love it

Nice job on the exhaust, I think it sounds much better now. Looking to upgrade my 2015 6.2 exhaust, might go this route, borla makes good stuff. Anyhow Im just checking in from Minnesota, keep the videos coming!

Chuck Hunter literally dropped a dynomax bullet on my eye last weekend. 8 days and 5 stitches later as well as internal stitches cause I ripped my eyelid as well as the muscle inside. No safety glasses - thankfully I have all my vision and didn’t damage my eye. My girl ordered me safety goggles that same afternoon and I’ve already worn them for just about everything Chuck Hunter provides valuable advice and everybody should wear eye protection.

I was young and stupid, my truck was overheating and I pulled the coolant line off. I had no idea what I was doing, someone explained to me how to clean out the heater core with a garden hose but I apparently didn't hear the part when they said to let the engine cool down first. The antifreeze melted my eyelids shut and ate a hole through my right eye. I had 1st and 2nd degree burns, 4 surgeries, and a bunch of experimental treatments. I lucked out big time, 12 yrs later now and I'm wearing corrective glasses. Without my glasses I have distorted and blurred vision in my right eye. It's still really embarrassing, especially because I was training to be a diesel mechanic at the time and should have known better.

Clean Silverado! I plan to start more mods on my Silverado here in the next couple months! I've got a K&N Blackhawk intake, shorty headers, hypertech max energy programmer, ballistic 22x12s with a toyo open country 33x12.5, and I also added a 2500HD hood and grill. I'm going to check out some more of your vids.

Congrats dude subbed to your channel a bit ago - really enjoy your videos. Borla sounds amazing compared to the cherry bomb (which still sounded nice imo). I just put an 18” 3” I/O bullet on my ‘13 5.3 and it sounds very similar to the Borla. The straight through sound is far superior to chambered mufflers to my ears at least. So much deeper and smoother toned is the way I can describe it. Congratulations on the swap and enjoy the sound! (As well as less drone than the cherry bomb lol)

Hi I have a 2008 and was in searching for the same sound and performance. Thanks for the video. Question: Did you have to cut the tail pipe? The Cherry Bomb was a lot shorter than the Borla. Thanks for your time.

Borla is always been what I run. I have a Borla Attack dual and it sounds sweet. Borla, anything else is child's play

Would have gone with a band clamp over u-bolt style.

Have a 2007 avalanche with the same muffler and long tube headers with no cats and it screams!! Love it.

After watching this video I got 2 of these mufflers for Christmas, and it's awesome on my 2013 Silverado!

What size tires and wheels are you running and Do you have a small lift or leveling kit. I just bought a 17 Z71 and trying to see what I want to do to it first

I love this-it was just as easy as you showed, and totally LOVE the sound. Other than, when cruising on the highway, and my 2007 Silverado switches from V8 to V4 to save gas, that sound is not great, but the sound on take offs is AMAZING! The Borla lets the true sound of the 5.3 come out, and it purrs like a panther! Thanks for sharing this. I plan to put this on all my future trucks also.

Sounds good one of the best sounds your gonna get with that 5.3 is a Y pipe with 4" rolled over tips gives it a really deep tone

If I known earlier you would change your mufflers, I had an avalanche and wanted something different and I installed aerotech (now known as aero mufflers) 3030xl and that is a different sound indeed.

So your stock pipe slipped in after cutting slices in muffler ends? Just bought a 2012 LTZ and really like the sound you have here.

Do you still have your stock pipe running from your engine? Or did you have to get 3” pipes?

I would like to know in your words. How loud is it really in the cab? Your camera is so good that it picks up every lil noise. I want to Borla on my 05 and cant decide between the s type or the xr 1 even the atak. I don't mind some noise but I want to be able to have a conversation as it is my daily drive.

Just a quick share of experience. Most of the time you can tap around where the muffler clamp goes with a hammer and it will come apart pretty easily. Really sharp old truck man. Ohh and if you wanna do much exhaust work I’d get a cordless sawzall lol. Really tho Milwaukee has a good one that system your impact uses. I absolutely love my Dewalt cordless. I love anything cordless.

Borla straight through is just an over priced glass pack. My 5.3 sounds the same with 50 dollar glass pack from local exhaust shop.

Gotta swap out that drivers side valve cover with the updated pcv valve hole so she stops smoking when you start her. 👌👌 Gorgeous truck man, I just installed an xr1 on my 08. Coming from having a straight pipe set up and it's a HUUGE difference. it's nice and mellow but a great deep sound with zero drone👌

Finally someone that does not put on a cheap flowmaster. Straight through mufflers flow way better and sound better.

So did the stock pipe just tucked in the 3 inlet on your new borla

Question. I have a 2015 5.3 Silverado. factory, single pipe, not dual. I want to make it stainless, dual turn downs. What would the pros and cons be of doing XR-1s? I'm thinking split it after the cat. then 2 XR-1s, and dumped after the wheels. First of all, is that necessary? will only one XR-1 be sufficient and split it after the muffler? Should I leave out resonators? want the best sound possible. I'm thinking of doing similar to what you did in this video except I want dual turn downs that i'm having custom made. Thanks for you input.

If you're dumping the exhaust it may be a little louder with dual dumps, but I wouldn't expect much of a difference.

It’s a baffle that’s in the pipe if you pull it out it makes them louder

Just put this bad boy on my 2011 and it is amazing

Just a suggestion... put your stock tail pipe back on into the muffler or if you can get a y n run dual tail pipes you will really get a nice sound. I used to build exhaust systems in a shop

I agree, would love to hear it like that... even some of borla's full systems have muffler with dual resonators.

40 series is one of the best classic muscle sounds, but the airflow is very restrictive in that particular series. I would never go from flowmaster to borla, borla is just overpriced and it sacrifices sound and clarity for a very muffled refined tone. If thats what youre going for borla is what you want, but every exhaust lover ive come across ends up hating borla because of how quiet it is. At first you might not mind it, but you will eventually start to miss the flowmaster.

Nick Leverett I called the dealership and they said that it does affect certain ones, but not others. If you install it yourself, it usually negates it.

I have the exact same rims on my 07 Silverado, just put them on 2 days ago, had to beat metal back and zip tie the fender well back for them to fit but I did it

does anyone know if the exhaust running that short like his, ruins the truck from underneath? Because mine is set up the same and I have a lot of uncles saying it will but none of them are too familiar with exhaust systems.

No it doesn't especially with pipe facing downwards. Had my set up for 10 years on my old chevy
