I'm so glad you mentioned the confusing layout. It took me forever, more than once, to find the cockpit. I finally had to take my time and actually learn the path so I could stop running around in circles to find the cockpit by accident and avoid that frustration.

There needs to be a fuelers industrial association to allow for the purchasing of wholesale fuel and retail pricing indexing structure for a given locality since I expect hydrogen scooping and refining to be slow and inefficient. There will never be enough hydrogen scoops on the front of a MISC Starfarer to make a small dent in it's fuel reserves over a short business scale operation. I would like the opportunity to turn my Starfarer into a Beerfarer with massive booze casks for fuel tanks and even a lounge in the main hold.

If memory serves, the Star-G was to sacrifice cargo capacity due to reinforced bulkheads to support heavier armor, not fuel capacity. Also, the Star-G comes with BOTH the missile pod and the fuel scoop. (see Q&A II)

it's not the missiles that made me take the gemini - it was the heavier armor. and as they've said you can refill the hydrogen fuel at regular refill centers (space ports, hangars, etc), i'm not concerned about missing the size 6 scoop - but if they give the option later on to swap out the missiles for the scoop, that's a no brainer for me...i won't be entering combat zones without escorts anyways.

Base ship with the current specs seems like the easy choice in the short term, but it might be worth waiting for the patch to drop in case there are surprises that differentiate the two further.

Wow, you have enlightened this Gemini owner to some new facts. I do believe the Starfarer was originally going to be a refinery and a cargo hauler, but only able to do one of those things, depending on how you kit it out. Swap those fuel pods for mining bags or cargo containers.

Really hoping they give us the components to change up how you run this beast. I have the Gemini, so it'd be sweet having the ability to swap in refinery pods and intake for long hauls, or drop 'em for missiles and extra fuel pods when my org's feeling extra militant.

An' here I thought the Starfairer/Gemini was the Space TORTOISE cause of the size; While the Terrapin was the Space TURTLE, hence the name and general shape of the Hull. Either term could be switched easily. Just a thought. ✌️😎🚬

Starfarer was confirmed in a recent ISC to be a fully functional refinery for any mined material. Bought one before I finished watching that video. Lol

Just a quick note, you can already take off the fuel scoop from the starfarer and put it on the gemini (if you have both). I hope they offer the scoop as a part you can buy in verse at some point!

@@DigThat32 yup not gonna stop me from buying it and piloting a ship bigger than any other game can offer. Eventually but not soon we'll be able to hire NPC's to fill certain roles. Atleast with that Privateer I can land on surface. Not all capital ships can.

Starfarer is better for business, gemini better for fleet support. We use the Gemini because the additional range on the size 5 guns versus size 4's makes the ship more effective against ships that would be trying to take out a larger ship. The idea is for when eventually you have the kraken etc you can have one ship that can deliver fuel and supplies that will not be a pushover if someone is trying to starve the carrier from resupply.

Oh I have to disagree on the Reclaimer. It's actually pretty simple once you know the layout. The broken lift to the bridge is a bit of a pain (that ladder is pretty long). But all I really want on the Reclaimer is MORE! I'd love to have a sickbay, even just one or two beds with basic functions, like the Cutlass Red. It's a big enough ship to have a sickbay.

The extra range on the turret does help alot.

@@DigThat32 be a pretty big bummer if it doesn't. held onto my Gemini for all these years for that exact reason. Iirc it uses the same tech as the weapon plugins. It wouldn't be the first time cig didn't do something they said they'd do, and or gutted a feature a ship was sold around. Time will tell.

Yeah, gemini can do all the same that base SF can, with extra armor and S5 turret, which base cant get.

I would just like to say, the gemini is lower fidelity than the base model. On the gemini the upper deck is completely chrome, there's no table in the mess hall, and you can't enter the bathrooms in the crew area. Little things, sure, but if you like rping that matters. Additionally, the top turret on the base is good for dealing with fighters, while the big S5's are better at fighting off bigger ships. I'd make the call based on where you intend to operate, and what for. If you want to support a combat fleet for your org, gemini. If you intend to just be out there refueling and not touching combat ops, base model. I've traded in my gemini for a liberator though, but I think I'm gonna buy the base model in game. Rather have the better defense against fighters, and a less buggy interior.

Dont forget, SF were made by FPS guys to be a mini FPS map. Hence missing lots of things, like tables. Both of those ships are getting reworked soon to current standards, so dont make the call just because other have space blanket and another dont.

@@Foba__Bett Not what I'm talking about. The table is supposed to be there but has been bugged out for the longest time on both of them. They fixed the bug on the base, not on the gemini. Similar to how with the razors the base model got patched, but the variants didn't.
