I'd say that Serbian NORA B-52 (especially modernized one) is the best price/quality ratio. Very mobile, light, precise, durable and good range. For $1.8M - $2M, it's a bargain. You have cars more expensive than that...

the G6 has rocket driven rear ammunition that can do 120km range available kept in house and not exported. i speak from the country of origin with fellow engineers that work for the producers. the G6 has seen expensive combat on the African continent. its is exported to Saudi Arabia and a few other clients. speed is key to redeployment and there is nothing on the market that has its attributes if you look really closely at its specs.

Correct, latest variant to 76km , with newer autoloader , NBC and say a LEDS C-RAM system( would single handedly smash Sweden 's Archer back to the stone age) what the Paladin and K9/10 to 40km can currently do.Except with a Rhino could literally drive to the combat zone. Any tracked vehicle after 1000km just about needs a complete overhaul, the Rhino with a bit of spit and polish would be setting off on its next 1000km.

at 0:50, The Centauro "Porcupine" B2, year 2016, is the only wheeled tank howitzer on this list, all others are truck, thus more mobile in general: especially when escorted by a Centauro wheeled TD. Plus, like for the Archer, no crew needs to be outside when firing, it can shoot up to 50km away, 4 munitions in rapid succession before reloading, and its compatible with all Nato ammunitions. This has not been effectively deployed yet because its really recent with all the more recent aiming and laser guidance technologies, but when it does, it will quickly become one of the best wheeled SPG out there, in a similar way as the Centauro B2 is the best wheeled Tank Destroyer in the world.

Good vid, thanks TDD. Being ex-AF, I thought, "I've got to see if I can show these things up", and I knew AC130's carried a howitzer. The answer, though, turns out to be "no, I can't show these things up". While the AC130 is a very impressive weapons system, firing 13 rounds a minute, the howitzer turns out to be 4" (105mm). So, all I can do at this point is declare "Hand salute!". Further ramblings: I find it interesting how adding a couple of inches of diameter adds so much to the complexity. After all, it's "only" 50% larger diameter. Of course I know there's a simple formula to figure out the increase in mass, but it's been years since I've had to calculate parameters of beer barrels in college, so I forget. Oh yeah: AC130, 105mm@13rpm. It's a 1-minute clip kzread.info/dash/bejne/a5N70KmEipfLZ84.html

at 40 km the flight times are 2 minutes plus, so anything in the 3 to 4 minutes would be fine. But then again the G6 is well armoured if caught in a counter battery salvo. Also, if you stop and shoot 3 rounds without shooting in, all 3 rounds is going to miss. lots of factors to consider at 40km plus ranges, wind direction, speed, air density, temperature over the 40 km and even the earth spinning. Meteorology becomes very important. And shooting in with 2 or 3 rounds is the usual case. except for guided ammunition, which is still not super reliable. and most of these guns could fire the guided munitions as most conform to NATO or other standards

From This list G6-52 should by No1 by far. Your info is not correct. It has full auto loading and will out range any 155 howitzer in the world, wheeled or tracked. In fact, it will out range any howitzer of 155 mm wheeled, tracked or conventional. The previous modal, a 155mm 48cal will out range most if not all modern howitzers in the world, but had semi auto loader with less r/min than newest 52cal. Sorry, have to disagree with your assessment here... Also, Denel offers trucked version of G5-52 called T5-52, why is this not on your list? One of the most diffference is the weight of both systems. Tracked can carry more armor and ammo in contrast the wheeled systems are lighter. The wheeled SPA can be transported by planes and are more mobil. I think it's depends on the tactical nature or the force. Tracked for the tanks units and wheeled for support of mechanized infantry units for example.

Well 500 km was a little optimistic but 60 km is ok. As for cost and efficiency it is expensive to buy but cheap to operate and own. It is the fastest shoot and scoot in the world. 3 rounds in under 15 sec, 30 sec later you are moving, 1,5 minute later the you groupe again 600 m away from the place you last fired from. 30 sec later you are prepared to fire again. The comand with a correction if needed now arrives to you and 10 sec later you fire 6 rounds in 40 sec. Together that is 400 kilo of steel delivered. One can ofcourse start with 6 rounds in 40 sec if the distance is short (25 km or less).

Disagree with positioning of 1 and 2. The South African is a proven vehicle used in several conflicts. It was designed in the 80s and not the 90's. Secondly the Archer is not really a proven weapon in combat. It does not have the 30+ decade combat proven reliability than the South African SP artillery piece.

Reliably it's around the 60km mark with 67 being the quoted max range. It set the world record with 73.something km (or thereabouts) a few years ago, but that was with "non-standard" charge and a little modification of the projectile (plus it was probably downwind, or at best with no wind).

Usa una canna da 52 calibri standard NATO quindi avrà 60 righe, tutt' altro che a canna liscia.
