    It’s mainly the outdated intro and TV show vibe which I can’t quite define. It may be the colour grading though that seems ok. Oh I’ve seen some glitch transitions, those surely don’t help. And yes, the colour grading is a bit weird, the asphalt and sky have a pink shade a lot of the time.

    With the right exhaust and matched to the DSG it does indeed sound great. Unfortunately it is way too thirsty for the performance and expensive to tax (at least in the UK). Slow, heavy and likes a drink. Could be describing myself, to be fair....

    @@francishughes3017 you dont buy this car nowadays to be the fastest. You buy it to enjoy the big vr6 and its not slow by any means to be honest. And i drive an f80 m3 as well as a golf 3 vr6

    @@mikesiegenthaler4224 I do agree and am definitely all about the theatre and driving experience rather than being a 0-60 bore. The problem is that unlike, say, a Subaru Impreza, virtually all of the experience revolves around the exhaust note. The R32 costs nearly £600 a year to tax though and with blobeye Subaru's costing £200 less, with similar mpg's, and now appreciating values as a future classic, I'd say that was a better bet. I can't however see the R32's going up in value.

    I'd also go for bmw 130i. With a little bit tuning of intake and exhaust and new map u can get easily over 300hp. U get also that beautiful sound and it's still a step higher quality vehicle, Golf and Megan are great cars, but u have way more fun with +300hp rwd bmw.

    You buy a R32 for the noise and the fact its the last of the golfs with a v6. The inside is also a nice place to be with heated leather,nav etc. 6.0 secs to 60 mph is still fairly decent for something as heavy and fully loaded.

    @@antj29 yes true, I had an E36 328is which was a sweet engine, but to be fair to the M140i there is plenty of torque from very low revs, and it's not really got any noticable turbo lag due to it being a twin-scroll turbo.

    @Feed The P0ny Bullshit. It is already a modern classic, how many other RWD hatchbacks are there, with a 6 cylinder turbocharged engine ? People are snapping them up now, because everything else in the same segment is FWD and 2.0 4 cylinder. There is nothing else like it.

    I had one last year in the Netherlands. It was in real good condition and for that reason i paid 17.000 euros! Hard to find a good one these days. Unfortunately it got stolen in 6 weeks. But for sure one of the best hot hatches ever made, especially the best sounding one.

    They are quite easy to come by here in eSwatini and quite reasonably priced at +-100000 Rand's for 60-80k km examples. . . But that's coz our country allows import dealerships, so they come to us improted from Asian markets like Japan, Singapore,etc

    Although I love the rwd 130i I think I’d go the r32, yes they are not fast by today standards and tuning options are VERY limited but that noise makes up for everything it falls sort on

    I’ve had an R32 from new. Full dealer service but still needed a new dsg box at 125k cost 4k now dine 161k

    R32 over the others. However, I do think a type r fn2 is more raw and will give you more fun. Better hot hatch in my opinion.

    I have a 130i. It is truly addictive to drive. Mine has LSD, headers (ohhhh the noise!!!), A few M3 bits and some weight loss. It's more of a sportscar than hot hatch IMHO. I also have had a R32 DSG, and currently have a Megane RS250. The Megane is unbelievable around corners and has an amazing chassis. The R32 sound even stock was incredible. One of the best sounding cars ever in stock form.

    @@JuanBluesMan The Megane 265 cup is an epic car with just what it can do.. punches way above it's weight and in a circuit situation, there's no contest for the money. The 130i LE is just a good old fashioned analog/great engine package that feels special to drive fast or slow. Just put the RS265 for sale.

    @@ThaDutchDK1989 Calling it ugly is subjective. I would argue that the 130i is ugly. I own an MPS and it's one of the best handling cars I've had, they come with an LSD as standard and a lot of new cars don't even have them. MPS' not being "well known" is a good thing, I've had the latest hothatches (S3, golf r, focus st etc) try to pull away from me and the look of surprise on their face is addicting. To be beaten by a 10 year old car that costs 3k when you're in your 20k+ finance wagon is hilarious.

    Pretty sure the electric water pump failure on the 130i is a bit more important/serious than a leaking oil filter housing gasket...

    The leaking oil filter housing gasket is one of the few ways you can kill an N52 engine. Although not directly. The leaking oil drips onto the auxiliary belt, the belt slips, shreds and gets sucked in past the cranskhaft seal. Sounds unlikely but it can happen

    As far as i know, used cars in uk are much cheaper because they are left hand drive. So their used market is limited to uk, less demand equal less cost

    Not sure if their any cheaper over there but look for a 2006-09 A3 3.2 S-line, basically a R32 in Audi guise without the R tax.I got mine in Canada for a 5500 with a bit over 215k km and some cosmetic rust.

    They are cheap as chips in the UK...you can still get a mk4 R32 for 6k and I've seen a 150k miles Mk5 R32 for £3700 in this weeks auto trader

    my brother has a top spec 130i m sport he bought off the original owner with just 60k on the clock, fantastic car that really packs a punch so understated! But for 5k you could have a lovely k20 type R, a nice megane trophy or r32 is easily upwards of 10k! that's why I've gotta Kia pro_ceed Gt not quite like those but seriously deserves some love for being a decent hot hatch.

    Spunking a lot of money up the wall for that with next to no sell on value. Besides, you'd be mental to modify a non LSD version to that extent, which puts you back in the £5k/£6k mark. Personally, the R32 Golf is just better in every way. If you want a turbo Civic, wait a few more years and buy an FK2. 310bhp from the factory with the suspension, breaks and looks to go with it.

    The 130i (pre 2006 4-door) is such a sleeper, I love it. Fooling sportscars and fast sedans at the traffic light. And the sound is epic!

    R32 just for the noise alone! 0:46 I have one of these ( had for 6 years ) and always fun to drive! no real maintenance hiccups ( I did the timing chain as preventative maintenance )

    I live in a country where these three cars are rather difficult to come by. I've only seen the R32 once in flesh, in my whole entire life!

    Golf sounds the best, but not as fast as a gti really and truly. The 130i, 6cylinder, rear wheel drive? Prefect

    550 pounds roadtax is what you pay here in the Netherlands for every petrol car weighing between 1150kg and 1250kg. Taxes are crazy over here. Buying a good mk5 r32 will set you back about 15.000 euros over here.

    @@joshm2405 plus you can remap a GTI to make about 290bhp safely and it makes it so much faster than the R32

    Cheaper pre 07 reg , I had one from 07 only to find 06 reg paid less. if you known the instrument cluster of a r32 you would know that’s what my dp is.
