In salsa you only step on the 1-2-3, pause on 4, and 5-6-7, pause on 8, hence no need to count the 4 and 8.

Don't get this. I am a great dancer, but I don't get the counting. I just go with the music.

Check out our beginner videos. Salsa has counts 1 - 8. The 4 and 8 are "pauses" in the salsa steps.

It's called Salsa. If you're looking for styles, it's linear style. There is more than one style of Salsa, despite what many Cubans, Puerto Ricans, and Columbians think (btw those are also different styles to each other). Btw do you have a point?
