I think what makes JonTron's live action skits so effective as opposed to someone like The Nostalgia Critic or AVGN is that he puts just as much effort into them as anyone else, (more so in some cases) but he doesn't "show off" by making a big deal out of them. They're a few seconds long, well scripted/executed/edited, and then they're over. He hits you with a perfectly timed pie to the face and moves on. He doesn't smear the pie all over your face and get in in your nose and eyes, and let them drag on for literal minutes and break the flow of the review. Again, The Nostalgia Critic comes to mind.

G4nst4Ch33se The Adam Sandler call skit is actually one of the skits that comes to mind when I think of a Nostalgia Critic skit that goes on too long and takes things too far. I get it, hyperbole is the funniest thing ever created by a human (lol). But after a certain point it just becomes annoying. Like, I keep waiting for him to get the the "punchline" of the joke only to realize it was all one long punchline to begin with, only it was stretched out so long and so thin that there's hardly any comedic value left. Of course, like many things, comedy is subjective, and I'm only stating my perspective. Maybe you found it funny, and that's fine. Personally, I'm finding the Nostalgia Critic and his overblown reviews increasingly less enjoyable (decreasingly enjoyable? I don't know how the grammar should be arranged).
