Best of the Best takes a look at my favourite matches and moments from a paticular wrestler. This debut episode features Bret Hart, and while it's difficult to choose my favourite Bret Hart matches of all time, I think the selections made in this video do show "The Best There Ever Will Be" in the best light possible.
Matches covered in this video include Bret Hart vs Mr. Perfect at SummerSlam 1991, Bret taking on his little brother Owen at WrestleMania X, the critically acclaimed WrestleMania 13 Submission Match, the Hitman's match against Big Daddy Cool Diesel at Survivor Series 1995 and loads more.

@@thepubknight6144 Honestly, I think Bret was better as a heel. Personality wise, he was kind of a standard babyface champion. But as a heel, he could take all his technical skills and hold them above everyone else, which was totally believable, and basically just make a pompous ass of himself.

*16:15* I held the sign that said, "The Hart and Soul of the WWF." When Bret was walking around the ring and hugging/shaking hands, he took my hand and nearly pulled me over the railing. I'd thought, "LOL, is he aware of his strength?" All jokes aside, this was one of my favorite matches because the storytelling between Bret and Stone Cold played out so well. I was also at some of the other matches you mentioned. Bret was an artist, storyteller, and in my opinion, the greatest wrestler of all time.

So here's my story: growing up in a small town on the south coast of Western Australia in the 90s, we only had 2 TV channels and no wrestling at all on TV during my childhood. The best we had, were VHS tapes from the one video store (but all were at least several years old). This meant that any wrestling I ever saw, happened years prior and I had no sense of what was happening week-by-week in the WWF. When I was 12, I asked the local newsagency to order in WWF Magazine every month, which allowed me to keep a bit more up-to-date, but the magazine would always arrive at least 4-6 weeks late. So I had a limited, and delayed, exposure to wrestling. But I loved Bret, he was my hero in 1994 (hated Owen!) and as a 12 year-old, I remember the lead-up to SummerSlam 94... and being genuinely terrified that Owen might actually beat Bret for the WWF title (by cheating, probably). I kinda knew kayfabe by then, but didn't fully understand how it all worked... but I really thought there was a legit chance that they'd put the belt on Owen, and so I was SO excited to find out what happened at this pay-per-view. I assumed I'd found out the result from the magazine, but as it happened... for some reason, the local video store received a VHS copy of SummerSlam 94 BEFORE THE MAGAZINE ARRIVED!!... this meant, for the first time ever, I'd be watching a wrestling event without knowing in advance what happens!! It was like watching wrestling, AS IF IT WERE LIVE!!... this was a big deal for me, and the suspense I felt around the cage match at SummerSlam 94 was extreme!!... I remember running and jumping around my parents' living room, screaming at the TV... as they both scaled down the outside of the cage... when Owen got caught up and Bret dropped to the floor, I immediately ran outside and sprinted around the backyard screaming!! I'd never been so excited about wrestling, never have been since and never will again. My opinion: think of any wrestler that Bret ever worked with, and Bret probably had that guy's best ever match. To me, that says it all. Thanks for the memories, Hitman.

I was / am a massive Bret fan so probably very biased, however if more pro wrestlers today looked how Bret built up a match and told a story in the ring matches and moves would mean a lot more, and our favourite wrestlers would get less injuries. I just listed that match on my top five matches of Brets wwe career, and i also believe it is underrated. No one ever mentions it because the match gets overshadowed by Brets match at Summerslam with Davey. Also my brother was a shawn fan and I was a hitman fan so it def was more entertaining (though used to watch Survivor series 92 on vhs all the time since we had a taped copy of the live ppv event and also WM 8). However with all that said even though the ending kind of sucks. Survivor Series 97 was the best match they had. The heat of the crowd, the heat between the two it’s jist terrible that match didn’t play out either with a screw job finish Bret approved of/ or even Bret beating Shawn and them going the full 30-45 mins.

Simply the best. He and his family’s influence is what is missing from the WWE today.

The absolute GOAT. What a legend. I could name fifty bangers and not even get close to ranking them consistently other than the WM13 match with Austin been the complete greatest match in history.

Kid vs Bret is also my favorites, i always liked bret as i was one of those who like guys based on move coolness not so much promos and looks....but Brets king of the ring run was for me put him in the greatness category....3 great, pure fights and it was a story told with 3 definite chapters and looks

This is really good Bret was just so good and a true legend. I wish more people in the game had his detail and story telling but he is a one in a generation talent. This video shows that definately! I would've added a couple but this is very good 👍 😊 I missed you doing videos like this reminds me of where this channel started. And I love RTW too but I know how much time that consumes so it's nice when we get stuff like this! thank you! WBs does it again

I'm glad you mentioned that SNME match vs Randy Savage. My parents taped that show for us, and I must've watched that match dozens of times. Is it any wonder Bret and Savage are two of my three favorite wrestlers of all time?

Brett was always a big favorite of mine when watching wrestling. I, too, suffered a stroke, (2010) that left me in an 11 day coma and paralyzed on my left side and fought for 3 months to learn how to live life again whilst in hospital (hell). I've overcome my paralysis but still have issues with feeling and some movement loss (can't run anymore). I would like to meet Brett and compare stories of the struggles to build a new life post stroke. You da man Brett! Walk with your head held high. Forget about any haters. You have appreciative fans still! 😉👍😎

This a good idea. Make a "where to begin" video for different wrestlers. Maybe a second "diving deeper" video and even a "deep dive/obscure classics"

I have to say this is an excellent idea. It's fun to check out well rated (or badly rated in some cases) matches from say Cagematch lists but getting some foreknowledge of the bouts before diving into them often gets me much more hyped about them than just a rating or short paragraph of text. Really looking forward to next episodes of this and definitely will check out some of the matches i haven't seen before.
