Chais obsession with becoming a rockstar becomes super endearing when you realize his disabled arm would have made it impossible to play guitar in the first place. Or I guess far more difficult. Can you imagine how many people would have talked him down from his dream repeatedly up until the start of the game?

I know this comment is at least a month old, but was Chai's arm even disabled? He seems to be able to use it just fine in the opening cutscene after he starts the process of getting his arm. I honestly got the impression that he was faking it to up his chances of getting in.

It also explains why he's so eager to replace his arm, robot arm is probably better than a bad arm.

I find it hilarious that, in addition to giving Korsica a unique boss battle, the parry battle also makes it impossible for her to be summoned against herself in any replays of the fight. Now there is no doubt they would have unique dialogue for such a scenario, they probably didn't want to break reality as bad as having Macaron in the first Z-Shield fight.

Hey guys! Siv here. Hi-FI Rush marks Best Of#30 on this channel. This one has some extra bits in it. You may notice it has some transitions, and certain stuff is synced to the beat (my personal favorite is the beat-synced guitar scrape at 0:37, I'm proud of that one :D ) and the intro song fading into Chai's earbuds, as if he's listening to it. Also a big thanks to the other editors to chipping in their feedback. Couldn't have done it myself! It was fun to work on this one, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Thanks for putting this together; it's awesome having a way to revisit the highlights of this playthrough (with convenient timestamps, to boot)! Woolie and Reggie's enjoyment of Hi-Fi is infectious. Such a great game.

Something that I learned after the let's play but STILL baffles me is that Track 1's level design is mostly unchanged from the prototype made by John Johanas and the lead programmer(in fact, 1,000,000 was the first song they were sure to pick since it was put in the prototype for what would become QA-1MIL). The director knew perfect pacing from moment one AND IT STAYED

There's SO MUCH CONTENT you never see. That random "Return to Hideout" triggering hidden dialogue is PERFECT.

At 52:53 i just realized zanzo is posed like kakyoin in the water tower, thats funny. Even his death is a jojo reference

The extra fun thing about the arrow moment. It not only mentions that weird Sega thing, but also lampshades the nature of games to have arrows everywhere directing you where to go. It’s a fun little addition, I think

1:57:02 Korsica’s password for Spectra may have been “Password.” But it also required 5 other physical keys, so it’s still pretty secure.

Korsica's password being password is one of the subtlety layered jokes in the game, it goes in hand with one of the rotating signs in her area says "If you can remember your password it's probably not secure enough", coupled alongside with Korsica memorizing her passwords

This game is the music video that you made up in your head as a video game. It is a rhythm game that rewards you for being on beat, rather than punishes you for being off beat. The characters and plotline are fairly basic, but it never feels cliche. It knows what it is, what it's trying to do, and just goes all the way with the fun. And the sound design is naturally phenomenal, it makes it really easy to keep the beat and keep you pumped at all times. The fact that it was shadowdropped and hit the ground running and become a masterpiece just by word of mouth is a testament to how good this game is. There's so much to this game that is fantastic and I'm so glad that Woolie and Reggie got to enjoy it too. "A perfect 10 until proven otherwise" indeed.

I love that it does EVERYTHING to keep you on beat, but it's still willing to say "if you just CAN'T, no worries, you can still play with us 😉"

My favorite moment of this whole play through is still Woolie bouncing in joy as he fights a parry battle. Second favorite is when Reggie sings along to the QA boss song. 19:41 the fact they don’t pick up on the fact Chai’s hand didn’t work at the start just shows how fun the game is; and also I’m pretty sure Chai has a formal musical education, not just an informal music education.

@@In-The-Zone Supporting what Amirifiz said, he hands the music player with both hands cupped, and the first thing Chai does with the robot arm is spin his wrist and individually move the fingers. Though what exactly happened to it was cut during the writing process, the implication is that he doesn't have fine motor movement.

The amount of coordination that had to happen to make the animation, gameplay, backgrounds and music all sync up SO PERFECTLY is INSANE.

This is my favorite surprise of 2023, and it was a treat to watch Woolz and Reg enjoy the ride. No Bills have been removed.

Hi-Fi Rush is some of the most fun I've had playing a video game. My face was just stuck into a wide smile for a majority of my first run.

I think I might be on my 4th rewatch of this compilation, when I realized 1 and a half hours into, that my face is hurting from all the smiling... the game, the energy you guys bring into... I love every second of it

What a strong start to 2023. A beautifully polished, stylish and fully realized rhythm action game. Its one of the few games I've ever played that felt flawless front to back. Also, big ups to Sivsarcast for the timestamps and clipped comments/chat messages. Herculean effort.

Do Scots say oi? Yeah, but it usually has a C-bomb after it.

Dude gets a thumbs up for remembering Third Rock From the Sun, and I genuinely like the logic: err on the side of happiness.

I've made that connection of "808=BOB" but never that to bobcat. that's pretty funny.

god this playthrough was amazing. Like it was a great game and woolie especially was all over it, but even considering all that it came out fantastic. Did you know that the royalty free original of rekka’s fight theme, captive normals, is a polar opposite wordplay to the non-streamer song, free radicals. Or that almost every character’s name, either directly or vaguely, is a reverence to a food or drink, eith some being references to certain brands. Also, all the characters are all different ethnicities. That’s a bit more obvious, but it’s an imteresting thing they did, being inclusive without it feeling forced. One last thing, from what i heard, chai’s condition in the beginning, with his arm in a sling, is actually because he had a medical condition where he can’t fully control his arm, and not any sort of injury. You could tell by how he had no cast when being prepped for his robotic limb surgery.

yeah its crazy, Free Radicals is Rekka shit-talking Chai for being a half-assed "hero" who can't do anything without help and picking on him for drinking the big-brand koolaid for so long without caring, Captive Normals is Chai's response to that basically saying that he's done being a desperate loser and that there's 0 chance he's gonna let them enslave him or anyone else with Spectra.

Is it though? Chai definitely made it LOOK that way, but he still had a good range of motion during the opening cutscene, especially when getting into the hospital gown. Tbh Chai just wanted to take a shortcut and got more than what he bargained for

I got a similar reply to this on a different comment, and while I accept that as potentially being the case, the game didn't really give me that implication. Especially when Chai's profile talks about him taking a shortcut and getting more than he bargained for. I wouldn't word it that way if his arm was literally disabled.

Wished that guardians of the galaxy game did what this with its music it could have played its in game music when you used the huddle mechanic then it wouldn't have died because no streamer touched it.

Just one minor gripe I have with the playthrough... Did Woolie not realize Chai couldn't play guitar cause of his disabled arm? Contrary to popular belief, Chai's left arm really was partially disabled. (word of god confirmed as much)

Im sure you've heard this from someone else by now, but the reason why he hasn't learned guitar by the time of the game, is that his right arm, the one he replaced, wasn't fully functional, which is probably why he volunteered for the arm replacement.

Seeing this makes me sad the Microsoft just shut down the dev just for the sake of saving costs. Even when we get a spark of something fun and original, it happens. 😠
