If you have more than one dog in the house, just because one of the dogs acts guilty does not mean that is the guilty party! I had a brother and sister Doberman pair, got them both at 8 weeks old. I kept finding shredded food wrappers in my big male Dobermans crates. When I would approach them and ask who did this, my mailed Doberman acted very guilty, his sister was not at all bothered. Fast forward to about a year, with this ongoing issue; I walk into the living room and find his sister in his crate munching down on a Taco Bell wrapper. 4 a full year, my gigantic goofy mailed Doberman was getting reprimanded verbally for doing something his sister had been doing the whole time. She would get in the trash drag it to his crate, not her crate, and Munch down. As time went on with these two it became even more clear that she was always the culprit. In 10 years of life, I never once caught him trying to get in the trash or eating crunchy covered cat poop out of the litter box. She had some sort of physical disorder, her mom had the same problem. No matter how much they ate, they always thought they were hungry. Never had this issue with her brother or any of her litter mates. The vets told me that there was something malfunctioning in her brain or her gut that was not communicating the way that it should, letting the brain know that she was full. This little disorder ended up costing me thousands of dollars. She got into the litter box one day, I had forgot to put the gate across the kitchen door, because this alleviated the problem with the trash and the cat poop. Her stomach inverted and she had to be rushed to the emergency vet for surgery to save her life. At that point, they were kind enough to tack each side of her stomach to a rib cage so that her stomach couldn't flip over again. This is a procedure that they can do on female dogs when you take them in to be fixed. I highly recommend getting it done as barrel-chested dogs have a tendency to have this problem, even without getting into the cat box. After the surgery the vet came out and asked me why she had concrete in her stomach. I told her it wasn't concrete, it was Sandy cat litter. Needless to say, I quit using Sandy cat litter many many years ago. It may be more convenient for us, but it's a definite danger to your dogs because no dog can resist the delicacy that is crunchy covered cat shit

NOTES 2 ALL DOG OWNERS....... if you WORK & don't have people to watch your beautiful dogs..... make sure you leave some snacks & Alot of Food & Water for the dogs ....just say'n!!

If dogs are chewing you stuff up chances are they aren't getting enough exercise Exercise everyday for at least 45 minuets, maybe more. If you can't do this don't get a dog.

A dog doesn't 'feel guilt', he feels fear from listening to the tone of a voice. How asinine it is to punish & humiliate a dog for what comes natural for his nature. ESPECIALLY if he has an emergency & doesn't have a way to get outside & has to poop in the house. The dog should NEVER be scolded for that. He will never understand what he did 'wrong' or EVER be able to change an emergency urge to relieve himself. What kind of a moron would think or act otherwise? You don't deserve to have a dog that you try to humiliate by taking away their joy.

Tone of voice is very important. Don’t yell at them. Most of the time they are just being Dogs. We are responsible for their training. 🐶🎄
