I've used a Bluetooth adapter for years. My understanding is that there's little difference between the adapters themselves; they're all relatively cheap. It's really about what app you use to read codes, visualize data, etc. Some are free, some are paid, and some obviously better than others.

Yep with the adapter style it really comes down to the APP 110%.
Thanks I know nothing about these or car I’m getting the topdon and learning more about cars everyday

Dude! Awesome video thank you so much! As a professional automotive technician I often get asked for recommendations In regards to what affordable generic reader someone should buy. As my personal one is many thousands of dollars and I don’t own any cheaper readers, I never knew what to say. I do now! Thank you!

Thanks! Glad to hear its helpful.
I have a few and seem to get a new one as technology progresses but having a scan tool that can display ABS and SRS codes is desirable.

No problem! Hopefully in the next month. I have them, just need to find time to make the video...
Just bought the Launch based on your testing. It's also on sale at Amazon for $40. If nothing else, it certainly will be better than what I have now.

Will you be testing higher end ones? Like in the 100-500 dollar range? And 500 and above?

Maybe really depends on if anyone watches this video lol. If interest is low probably not. But it either case it probably won't be this year.
Looking for a cheap ODBII reader that will be able to read the A/C pressure switch values on a 2012 Ford Focus. Do any of those do this?
Launch is on sale for Black Friday. $31

What do you use for your daily scan tool? You probably have a snap-on or similar, but I'm looking at the Topdon, Autel, XTools, etc and seems you can spend $200 to $1000 for something that starts to have decent features. Have you researched those mid-grade and up scanners? Probably tons of potential for another video there. There's also the more deluxe bluetooth readers, but they all seem to be very slow to execute commands in comparison with even a mid-range tablet.

Honestly I didn't have a genaric scan tool until this video. The diagnostic tools I use are from the OEMs, I mainly work on Mercedes, MTU, MAN and Liebherr engines in industrial applications. The bluetooth dongles, I will have a video out in a few months for. Mid spec and higher would be cool to do but I cant justify it at the moment, if I'm being honest this video has been a huge loss. Year to date it has made $15.36. Which dousen't even cover the loss of selling one of the tools on eBay lol.

@@Tools-Tested Yeah, I totally get that. Obviously most of the tools aren't going to be useful after the videos to you so end up just being a dead expense. Hopefully you can get some better resale on some of the torque wrenches and stuff like that, but if the brand doesn't have any name recognition, then it doesn't matter if the tool works decently, it has almost no resale value. I've realized that I have to get into the $700 plus range to have something that's really going to work decently. You don't get into ECU encoding or the more advanced bi-directional stuff until that price range. It seems that all of the cheaper "bi-directional" tablets and blue-tooth dongles are filled with very credible bad reviews that for a lot of cars they are little better than one of these you've showcased here. Also, as horrible as subscription fess are, it seems that any of the units that offer lifetime updates are missing tons of key features.
I'm looking forward to part 2!

Should be interesting with all the different apps.
I got the Ancel for $12.37 a week before your video since i kept getting a check engine light, it read the code and i just looked it up online. So that MSRP and what you can buy most of the OBD2 readers for should not be taken very seriously. Other then the extra features most of what you want is ability to read the code and erase it after fixing the code issue. With that said, thank you for the review i will definitely be looking to upgrade into Tapdon or Launch. Keep it up.

Totally agree. Unless you're willing to pay $250 or more, just stick with a $25 model

Should if the engine control reads that sensor, but it’s not a 100% guarantee.
Hi! May I know your contact for product reviews?
Holy shit it only took 10 different vids before i finally found a human review, sick of this AI trash taking over YT.
