I purchased the Rode recorder mic and cable as you recommended in this video, along with the M6 Mk ii you recommended in a different video - the hiss is savage. I've tried reducing the volume on the camera settings but then it's too quiet. What am I doing wrong and why is the hiss hugely present at all volume settings?

I most often use the Zoom h1. Allthough you have to get the Wind cover for it (included in the accessories kit) otherwise you might experience swosh noises if the interviewer moves the recorder too rapidly.. I am considering upgrading the setup further with a Røde Reporter or similar and then using a xlr to 3.5 mm adapter cable to connect it to the H1

Was a good review but should have monitored the audio on the H1 before doing that interview, was a little over cranked, also be aware if you run your fingers over the plastic on the H1 it will pick it up, great mike but would avoid holding the body when recording if possible, speaking from experience.

Hello Sean-Diddy, informative even years later. Over the past 4 years there have been half-a-dozen XLR transmitters (Rode, Senn, Deity, etc...) I'm sure we'd love to hear your take on the sound quality and/or features (like the Deity record to card & transmit at the same time). I'm sure you're at no loss for content to create but please add that one to the list for 2022. ;) Thx for all the amazing content!

Hi Sean & Everyone! Sean, in addition to the Zoom H1, what other wireless handheld mics would you recommend for $250 or less? Also, I have lapel mics, and use the iRig Mic HD corded handheld mic. Pros on that is it's a great mic, with volume control right on the mic, cable is micro usb to lightning cable which goes records right into my iphone. The con is that the cord is only 5 ft., and needs to be longer. Thanks in advance! David

Hello and greetings from Ireland. Have just done a sound quality test on four of my microphones... The Rode reporter, the Ixm yellowtec recording microphone, the Shure SM58 and the Rode Procaster. I would rate the Ixm and the procaster as joint number 1. Not far behind the Shure Sm 58 and last the Rode reporter. The Ixm yellowtec is pretty expensive at 750 euro but so easy to use.. Just a mic, no cables or recorders. The procaster is definitely not a handheld but what sound quality. However eventhough cheapest of them all at 110 euro the Shure SM58 is definitely the old dog for the hard road... Beautiful sound fromm a simple old mic. The Rode Reporter I found was very treble. Stay safe John

I use an AT2020 linked through Scarlett 2i2 and a Macbook Pro, but it's a pain to bring all that gear along each time, so I'm thinking of getting a Zoom H1. I'm just worried about not being able to monitor it as easily.

What do you recommend for a 2 in one system? I need something for public speaking where I will wear the bodypack with earset mic and a handheld to field questions. The problem is sometimes the venue only has one mic input. I hear the Saramonic UwMic9 solves this problem. Have you used that system and what is your opinion? I would prefer Sennheiser or Shure but don't find a 2 in one I can use for run and gun. Thanks.

I've been waiting for the Rode Reporter and transmitter duo. Meanwhile, I've used a Sony and Canon small mic the size of a Chapstick, with electrical tape around it and a $25 Karaoke microphone from Target to make it look like a professional reporter's mic. The Sony and Canon mics, which are nearly identical, are amazing, but I do want to step up to either the Sennheiser or Rode Reporter mic. I'm hoping the Rode Reporter mic and its transmitter just out will work with my Rode FilmMaker Kit to save having to buy a complete set of the transmitter and receiver pair to make the mic wireless. You would do well to comment on this. I've been happy thus far with other Rode mics that I've bought that include the NTG2 shotgun, and their PIN MIC that camouflages the mic on most all clothing and makes any videographer appear to be a real professional.

Hi there, Just looking for a mic for a hobby KZread channel. My friend and I do reviews, interviews, etc...I am planning on maybe podcasting during my time in a physical therapy program and need something with clear audio that will not cause noise when transferring hands as well as not pick up background noise...thoughts?

Do you need two receivers for two mics or does one receiver record 2 mics?
