    A bit of history: This technique started at manufacturing line at WV in Brazil, (also known as golden little hammer or "martelinho de ouro") in the 60s after they deliver to retailers some old beetles, with some tiny dents, so VW staff created a small hammer that was later called "golden little hammer" and small rods to leverage. Martelinho de ouro spread all over the country and it is very popular in Brazil. Much later, many Brazilians migrated to US, to make money over there, repairing cars until an American entrepreneur improved the technique, creating more tools and bits, the light with stripes to help to spot tension on the surface. I have myself a small case with all these basic tools so with a heat gun I can make the body of my car a mirror with almost no imperfection. It's all about practice. On this video it looks simple, but you do need some skills to know where to hit and apply pressure, in each type of dent. Where the paralel lines tends to approach, it's where you need to hit, this is the idea for tiny dents) idea: First you need to heat the metal around 150 degrees, use a tool to pull the dent (on large dents, you work from outwards to inwards) you may do it a few times, and then, with a little hammer, you now hit where the paralel lines are approaching to each other. You can repeat the pull tool and then use the little hammer again. Keep doing it until the dent is gone. If it's a sharp dent, you use also the rod to push from inside the bodywork or you combine with the pull tool.

    Thanks, less time and less cost than a bodyshop repair or replacement bootlid panel that's for sure :) This one was actually a little while ago so I cant remember exactly but around 4-5 hours repair time, It was more about challenging myself and taking the opportunity to do a detailed tutorial video for my training site members.

    can you suggest from where to buy that heat blower (ebay/amazon) and the line board and the tapping pen you hammer ? At what temp you set the heat blower? I am just on a personal car project. Thanks.

  • @LearnPDROnline

    @LearnPDROnline

    For the tap down, hammer, and line board check out www.pdrprotools.co.uk as for the blower that's just a basic hair dryer, typically you want to get the panel around 25' Celsius but that does depend on brand of glue etc

    First of all, I am totally noob in this matter, but I bought some good tools, also for the glue, but I am worried that it's not working.. Glue doesnt want to stick to the surface to make enough tension.. Can it be because of not enough heat on the glue pistol? Or is it because i have bad glue quality? Can you recommend good glues for this?

  • @LearnPDROnline

    @LearnPDROnline

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Dominik, there are a few variables when it comes to glue pulling, from your description I would suggest its on the panel side so first thing to do it check the panel is clean and free of contaminants, you can use something like isopropyl alcohol to clean the panel (and the tabs) this may be enough but otherwise itll be to do with the temperature of the panel, these are the main two I would check (this is assuming you have PDR glue and a glue gun that gets the glue hot enough) also check out this link see if it helps - www.learnpdronline.com/pdr-tips/glue-pulling-top-tip-for-beginners/

    How long it takes to learn depends on lots of factors such as how much time you have to practise, what training you take, how quickly you pick up new skills and what tools and practise panels you have access to. usually it takes 6-12 months to get good at removing small dents but it can take 3-4 years to get up to a full level of competency across a multitude of dent damage.
