No ABR or Trivium on a best metalcore list is crazy. I also think that The Chariot, Zao, and Darkest Hour deserved mentions but I can accept their absence.

Motionless should've gotten a pick on this list somewhere. Creatures, Reincarnate, STEOTW could've absolutely taken Bad Omens' spot considering it's much closer to a *metalcore* album than TDOPOM

Much respect for Errorzone. For me one of the best mc/hc records for the last 10 years.
Atreyu, Trivium and Like Moths to Flames snubbed
2006 was absolutely stacked -As Daylight Dies -Define the Great Line -Sacrament -The Fall of Ideals -Allegiance -The Price of Existence (maybe more deathcore) 2007 was crazy top heavy. An Ocean Between Us, Horizons, and Messengers is insane for one year.
It wouldn’t have made it but Music for the Recently Deceased by I Killed the Prom Queen an absolute masterpiece from the early 2000s as far as albums go
If Misery Signals isn't on this list, fire it into the sun
Same :D Seems like I know most of the albums and when they came out till ~2008. After that -- complete mess in my head)
Of mice and men -The Flood should’ve been on here imo.
2009- With Roots Above and Branches Below 2010-Zombie EP I’m fine with dead throne pick for 2011 but haven’t put much thought into what else came out that year.
2000s Metalcore is my favorite. I like to think it comes out in the music I release
I love waking the fallen but hot damn is arguably my favorite album of all Time so big W for that one lol
Tbh that Vien album is definitely goated imo. It always hits hard and basically seems like the inspiration to the cyberpunk 2077 metal tracks.
Also, why is it that aftershock, shai hulud, shadowsfall, all that remains, and darkest hour all snubbed
I love They're Only Chasing Safety, but it's not really a "metalcore" album, it's one of the greatest Post hardcore no doubt though
Shogun is 2008 and they put attack attack? wuuuuuut
To be fair a BTBAM pit during the breakdown of White Wall is easily where I got the most hurt. I ended up spitting blood on the floor of The Orange Peel from getting my mouth busted 😂
I kinda agree with calling in modern metal. But also what will we call it in 5 years ? Because then it's won't be modern. Maybe just 2020s core or pandemic core
Imo, 2009 should have been stand up and scream by Asking Alexandra. That album has aged like fine wine
I would have so many albums to pick from from 2004, that was my sweet spot, I had just turned 21, and going to shows became a Lot more fun than when I was 16. Killswitch Unearth Candiria 36crazyfist Kittie God forbid Slipknot All released great albums that year.
Bro where did Nik go 😭😭
2013: Killswitch Engage’s “Disarm the Descent” deserves to be in the conversation (but Sempeternal does win).
2014 - Jinjer. They were still classified as metal core at this point, and that album is a banger from start to finish.
2010 no doubt shoulda been Of Mice & Men self-titled. Came out of nowhere and it was bangers front to back
Not putting Take Me Back to Eden as 2023 was CRIMINAL
Idk I graduated in 2001 in socal and what we called metalcore was a lot different then what played out. Bands like Converge, curlupandie, burnt by the sun, Dill, Lamb of God, God forbid, these we called metalcore. Bands that had more metal to it or were just plain ole carnage like Celphalic carnage. The rest was just hardcore. Unless it had a lot of singing, then it was just punk (screamo, emocore). Norma, evergreen, 18 visions, everytime I die, bane, coalesce Shai hulud ect these we called hardcore. MTV ruined life for so many people and genres😂🎉
Honestly if they wanted to put a between the buried and me record on the list they could have removed underoath - chasing safety and put the silent circus on there instead. At least it's an actual metalcore record. Then they could have used the 2007 slot for something more fitting.
Eighteen Visions Vanity album is fuckin awesome still.
Had a +2hr conversation regarding what The Agonist or Jinjer would be considered. They are labeled metalcore but I think personally it would be a disservice to the band to put them with modern metalcore nor traditional metalcore. 2010's was indeed a very weird time for metalcore i think haha
Come again to Brazil!
miss may i monument came out in 2010. easily could have been chosen in my opinion. and apologies are for the weak came out 2009. both were absolute bangers.
Might as well put periphery in here lol. Periphery II is up there.
Shadows and Frail Worlds absolutely snubbed here
Corrections for 2006-2009: 2006: ATR - The Fall of Ideals (duh) 2007: AILD - An Ocean Between Us (have to have AILD on this list) 2008: UO - Lost in the Sound of Separation (throw UO a bone for taking off Define. LITSOS is really solid) 2009: ABR - Constellations (duh) Bonus pick: 2011: MMF - The Hollow
There should be A7X in 2003 and Trivium in 2011 but for Loudwire this list was pretty valid. But my favourite metalcore album is probably Eternal Blue, that what happens when you are metalcore, Evanescence and prog music enjoyer.
If they’re going to put some prog stuff on there, I don’t know how they didn’t put Language by The Contortionist for 2014. That is one of the best albums ever created.
