Great video!!! 👏🏼👏🏼 Can you do a video about sound levels in your videos? I mean, the sound level you use for music, voices, sound effects, etc. Thanks
Great video and suggestions. We just picked up a second A6500 for my wife to use with the kids and when traveling (she was using a Canon 5D3 which is just too bulky right now) and this video was so much help. I think we're going to pull the trigger on both the Sigma 30mm and the Sony 18-105. I just subscribed and am looking forward to watching your other stuff. Thanks!

Hey Sidney. Great summary video of covering your lens bases on the A6500. Just grabbed a A6500 and the Sigma 30mm 1.4 DC DN myself today. Super excited to start making. What are you thoughts on investing in more full-frame glass to future proof a bit? The A7III is probably around the corner and could be a natural progression for a lot of shooters looking to upgrade to full-frame down the line, especially if it has 4K video.
Sidney, I've been watching more of your videos and wow man. Just amazing!! Where do you get your music for your videos?

The 18-105 is a great overall lens and the 10-18 is a great wide. I have both and love em, but they are a tad soft... Im considering swapping to primes, even though I find it a bit annoying not being able to zoom
Sigma 30mm (closer to a 45mm really on the a6500) is a must have!! That and the 18-105 is always in my bag and usually on my camera.

LOVE YOUR CHANNEL-I'm just getting back into photography and bought the a6500 body. I mostly like shooting landscape photography and experimenting with filters, etc. Normally I am shooting with my iPhone X because I always have this with me. But, I missed traditional photography and started off with 3 lenses: Zeiss FE 1.8/55 Sony 4/18-105 G Sony 4/70-200 G I just purchased the Sigma 16mm 1:14 DC DN and now I am having a "LENS IDENTITY CRISIS"...I love, love, LOVE this lens! Somehow, I didn't realize how much I miss shooting with wide-angle lenses? I used one on my Pentax K-1000 pretty much all the time back in the day. It also came with a variety of filters to experiment with-they aren't Singh-Ray quality but I'm feeling like a young kid again... Now, I am extremely interested in the Sony FE 85mm F1.4 GM (G Master) E-Mount NEX Camera Lens. Somebody stick me in the head with an ice pick, please! LOL My eyes aren't getting any sharper over time and I'm working with a LESS IS MORE budget. But, I think the 85mm GM really has the WOW factor to be a GOAT! The Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM Lens looks BEAST MODE, too. QUESTIONS: Which lens above would I trade out to upgrade to the new Sony FE 24mm F1.4? Which lens above would I trade out to upgrade to the Sony FE 85mm F1.4? Would I consider trading ALL of my lenses for the 24mm and 85mm? Thanks in advance!

Hey Sidney! Been watching your videos for a while, awesome content! It's funny how the order in which you mention one should get the lenses is exactly the order I have followed, haha! I started with the sony 18-105 and then got the sigma 30. Now I'm looking for a wide angle lens. I've been doing my own research for a while now but have not been able to decide between a couple of lenses- sigma 16mm f/1.4 and sony 10-18mm f/4. Would love to hear your opinion on what I should get! As a youtuber myself, apart from sit-down shots, there are times when I will be vlogging. Currently for vlogging I use the 18-105mm but I realise it sometimes cuts the top of my head or my chin if I don't hold the camera at the right angle. It's one of the reasons why I'm considering getting something wider and smaller and lighter cuz the 18-105 gets pretty bulky after a while of vlogging! Sigma's pros- better in terms of quality, low light, weather-proof, cheaper Sony's pros- better in terms of portability (size & weight), ability to zoom, wider, oss (although this doesn't matter much since I use a6500). I'm probably missing a few comparison details but that's all I can think of currently. My dilemma is for whether or not the portability and zoom factor are going to be more important for vlogging and run-and-gun type of filming on the 10-18 compared to the higher quality and cheaper price of the 16. Also the occasional cutting-of-my-head that I mentioned earlier while using the 18-105, will that still be prevalent in the 16mm (since it's only a difference of 2mm)? I know that I can also use clear image zoom for the prime (when not filming myself) but it's a rather slow zoom than it will be on an actual zoom lens. So are those 2-3 reasons worth paying almost twice the amount for the sony or will the 16mm be worth it? Looking forward to your reply!

I'm so glad I found this video!! I've been looking into getting the Sony a6500 for video and was hella struggling with what lens to go with. You sold me on the 10-18 and the sigma 30mm for sure! I just have one question, I really like the look that a 30mm lens produces with a full frame camera, but since the a6500 has an APS-C sensor, would you recommend me getting a 24mm to make up for the crop factor? Thank you so much :)

+Bogdan Bezi Yeah, I'd definitely start with the 18-105 lens first, then get the Sigma 30mm. Glad this video was helpful!
Thanks for the video. Personally, I was a little disappointed with the 18-105. Yes, the focal length is versatile, but it's a bit soft, and despite what all the reviews say, the balance DOES shift slightly. It isn't huge, usually within a tolerable range, but it's there sometimes requires a bit of fine tuning on my gimbal. The 10-18 is my favorite. It's sharp as a tac! I don't have the Sigma 30, but my friend swears by it, so that'll probably be my next purchase.
Well... that intro didn't age well...

Love your sharing. But I'm wondering between Sigma 35 and 30mm, which are so close to each other that I don't know which to choose. Dilemma...
Is the 18 105 good for photography and video like autofocus and even manual or is the 16 70 better. I heard the 16 70 is soft around the edges or will it still give me nice and crisp shots
Well done my man

Hi! Great videos! How do you manage the focus by wire? Do you only film relying on autofocus? I'm not really into the Sigma 30mm DC DN because I've heard it's really hard on manual focus, which I prefer. Thanks for your time!
@SidneyDiongzon
6 жыл бұрын
+Renata Faustina Thanks Renata! Yes, I completely rely on autofocus for these kind of lenses. I came from a manual focus background (especially with film) but trusting the autofocus with the lenses has completely changed the way I film! It’s more of “feeling” the shot versus trying to be precise by manually focusing. Lenses like the Sigma 30mm are not meant to be focused manually. If you want a good lens for manual focusing, try the Rokinon lenses! They’re incredibly sharp and feel like cine lenses. Hope this helps!

18-105 and 18-135 , which one is the better choice for the a6500?
Have you used the new sony 18-135 lens?
Nice one! I'm in doubt btw sigma 30mm 1.4 and sony's 35mm 1.8. The main reason is the OSS for video. What you think should be the best option considering the main use for video (and 60% of the shots being at night). Thanks a lot! :)

+Canal Duas Passagens I’d still go with the Sigma 30mm 1.4 for low light!
@NewEarthAwakening
6 жыл бұрын
Just remember the Sigma autofocus is loud, so doesn't really work for scenes you want to capture sound, unless you do a seperate mic away from the camera or switch off autofocus for fixed focus shots. Also, lacks image stabilization so more jittery unless you use a gimbel. And manual focus with video is completely unusable. However, if you pair Sigma 30mm with Sony 18-105, you'll have two great lenses for almost all situations.
@SidneyDiongzon
6 жыл бұрын
+NewEarthAwakening The AF isn’t too loud, but I never use the internal mic of any camera anyway. This lens was designed for AF use, not necessarily MF use. And paired with the a6500’s IBIS, I don’t get any jitters with my footage. And yeah, the 18-105 is a great pairing with this lens!

It's a SHARP lens for sure!
These are amazing recommendations. I have all three - 18-105, 30 1.4, 85 18. They are all amazing. The 85 1.8 is beyond good value for money. It and the Sigma 1.4 are two of the sharpest lenses ever tested on DXO Mark for the a6500, and the 85mm is top 8 sharpest lenses ever tested full stop. I rented the Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8 for a day and I would buy that if I had the money. On a cropped sensor it is a more useable focal length than the 85 but just as sharp. But very expensive. So in the end the 85mm is greater value.
@SidneyDiongzon
6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, totally agree with you! Thanks for watching!
Hey Sidney... how does an FE lens work with the a6500 compared to an apsc lens? I'm thinking about the 50mm 1.8... or fe 50mm...and even the 85mm. have seen review that the FE lens are a lil noisy and a lil slower to focus. Can't recall if it was about the 50mm or 85mm fe lense. What do u reckon?
@SidneyDiongzon
5 жыл бұрын
Yeah it works well! You just have to multiply that focal length with x1.6 to know what focal length you're really shooting with.

I have no idea...so sorry!
Solid video!! I love sigma glass. But if you ever get the chance to use 90mm macro and use it for studio headshots....OOOOHHH MAAN!! That lens kills it in that application.

Yeah it’s a good starter prime lens
You're so cool! Subbed right away! but i have a question. These lenses* probably won't be compatible with the Sony A7 right? since the a7 has a full frame sensor. (I'm new to cameras in sorry, I just want a good cam for some Instagram shots. and my phone sucks!) I have a good deal for an A7 soooo. yeah it comes with a 28 - 70mm lens which is fine I guess.
