Best Lidar solution is the ALP spec'ed out to front and rear for $1,800 w/bluetooth on phone. I'll pair it with a radar only Max 360ci.

Great video...I love my ALP. You forgot to mention how it can turn itself into "parking sensors" after a hit. Great for if a cop wants to poke around the car.
Great video! Definitely going to purchase the ALP
Great video Vortex.
Now that ALP came out with the TX heads, is it necessary to use one in combination with the regular sensors? Or are just the regular sensors enough to protect against the latest laser guns? BTW I drive a F80 M3 if that helps. Thanks!
Great analysis and capability comparison. I am definitely sold on the ALP.
Thanks for the great, honest review!
Thanks for the detailed explanation of the newest equipment out there. Sad to hear Escort is slacking, but looking forward to hearing about their upcoming wireless laser system. review. That may be the only thing they have going for them, since they like to argue with customers.
As always, awesome informative videos. Thanks for making this. :)
Hey thanks for this very great educational video. I am looking to invest into one of these. So earlier today while driving on a highway I noticed the officer was pulled out 90 degrees to the road. You mention a lot about covering your rear and front but what about the sides of your vehicle?

Felony evasion vs paying the $100 or so for defensive driving
I want to use this on my HD Road Glide motorcycle. If you are not familiar with that motorcycle it is considered a touring bike so it has a bigger front faring. I would assume two heads would be sufficient (front/back)? Your thoughts? Figures I live in a state where they are illegal. That said, If I still install one, I wonder if they will pull me over due to it not detecting my speed...
Can you use the ALP Bluetooth + TX sensor/2 sensor (front only) + ALP GPS + Radenso control front/rear radar + Radenso bridge to update ALP & have Bluetooth + Radenso on at the same time to display info?
So the best wireless laser jammers that work are the ALP ,Escort, and? Another question. When does the wireless ZW5 With Shifter Max come out?
After a few months with my ALP I’ve noticed a somewhat erractic behavior: usually it does’nt warn and jam before 1000 feet, on unobstructed area and with the gun positioned straight ahead. When hit from behind sometimes it jams, sometimes nothing happens. Were I drive the most popular guns are the Ultralyte and Truespeed. Is this the expected behavior?
Outstanding review... very detailed!

Good day! I don't know English well What is the radar in the end the most effective?
Thank you! Very helpful information.
You need to rig your system so that if LIDAR is detected from the rear it disables your brake lights for 5 seconds or so, so you can brake without them seeing, which would rouse suspicion when you anchor it smoking up your wheels only for when they DO finally get a read on you for you to be just at the speed limit.

Good idea in theory, but terrible in practice when you have a car behind you. Probably a better idea just to have an independent kill switch for the brake lights.
Excellent Video.!! ... Understanding The Science Behind this Technology is Key... Installation of a "Dead Man Switch" or a "West Coast Switch", is a good way to prevent your brake lights from illuminating when you apply the brakes to slow down, preventing the cop from noticing that your are reducing your Speed... (But Don't Forget to Flip the switch back to turn the Brake Lights Back on when you not using this method, or you could get Rear Ended.)

Hello! Thank you for the great job! It's always a pleasure to watch your very informative videos. I have two basic questions: 1 - You mentioned sometime ago that ALP Laser Jammer is "region coded". As an engineer I know that laser guns are very similar and operates on same technology and wavelenght etc. Could you please better clarify this issue? 2 - I went to ALP website to order my equipment and could not get the information I need. I have a mid size sedan and want to know what exactly I need to order to have a decent protection level, front and rear, for the less possible expense. Would it give me protection against fixed laser speeding cams set on top of porticos sitting some 20 ft across the highways, very popular where I drive?
@VortexRadar
6 жыл бұрын
Hey David! Yeah you're completely right. The guns all do operate on the same wavelength (905nm). What's different about the guns is the pulse patters and pulse rates they transmit. The ALP's are region locked in software meaning they're designed to detect and jam the patterns of lidar guns in use only in that area. In theory any ALP could jam any lidar gun around the world. It's all the same hardware. It's simply a software restriction as to which guns it chooses to jam or not in order to help create different markets and ensure that people are buying from their local dealers. It's not a technical thing. As for the ALP website, yeah it's tough to know exactly what you need. Take a look at the link to my ALP setup guide that I've posted in the video description. www.vortexradar.com/2016/01/everything-you-need-to-know-to-set-up-and-use-your-antilaser-priority-laser-jammer-system/ It covers everything as far as what equipment to get, how many heads, front or rear, etc. It is designed for American and Canadian drivers. If you're in Europe, Australia, etc., things may be a little different. For example, against the Poliscan in Australia which is a fixed laser speed cam, drivers sometimes need to have heads pointed out at an angle to jam them as they drive by, different than drivers in the US where we have officers up ahead or behind shooting laser. If you're outside of the US or Canada, I'd suggest asking around on RDF or searching for placement suggestions for your area. www.rdforum.org/index.php

That should just make Escort want to improve their customer service department and actually listen to their customers. I dont see a customer spending money on a product just want to talk down on said product. Most people will only give feedback to a company like Escort for them to see and work on any issues in order to keep the customers. But if they continue the way they have been then they are cutting off their nose to despise their face!
Curious to know if anyone out there has experienced laser guns having some problems locking a speed when they are running LED LIGHT BARS on the front of their vehicles. I have experienced the officer having to shoot several times. I have also been shot with laser at less than a thousand feet at 85 miles per hour in a 70 and the officer never pulled out.
Fantastically helpful! Thanks! If you install the ALP top of the line model, are there radar / laser detectors that clash with it? I have heard that certain laser jammers will set off certain laser detectors.
@VortexRadar
6 жыл бұрын
I've seen the parking sensor pulses from the ALP reflect off of vehicles ahead when parallel parked and cause false laser alerts on the V1, but the V1 falses to everything and so I just shut off laser detection on the V1 and let the ALP handle it entirely, heh. Otherwise, no issues and the ALP works well alongside every other radar detector on the market. Pick your favorite and you're good to go. 👍
Great video... But with a lease not sure I want to cut through firewall...but want ALP and the uniden R3! Any other ideas besides the escort. I'd like the uniden r3 detector not escorts :/
@VortexRadar
6 жыл бұрын
I cut through the firewall in my lease car. They never check that. You can often even go through existing wiring holes. I even drilled a hole in the center console and left the controller there. No problem. That was with a Blinder jammer though. ALP's control pads are less invasive and would be less of an issue. It's usually more of an issue if you have to cut your grill than put a small hole in your firewall.
I'm a field service engineer so I travel all over the United States but I'm always in a rental car what would be a good recommendation for somebody was on the road and switching cars constantly
It's probably only a matter of time until they have mobile laser measurement, where software picks out targets from a wide view and automatically aims, adding/subtracting the police car's speed to get the violator's speed. That software could easily measure all the cars in a matter of seconds, only displaying the biggest speeders.

Very good video. What kills ALP, at least here in Europe, is the size of the heads, it's simply too big! Laser jammers manufactures must wake up and start to design heads that mimic current automotive sensors such as those from active cruise controls. It's very basic really.... The lidar gun works on the principle of Light Identification Distance and Ranging. Key word in this acronym, "Ranging." It simply uses the range to exclude extremely close returns to the lidar transmitter. This easily allows the Lidar to shoot through windows and semi covered bush area's and the like just as Radar would with it's extremely wide beam width. I hope this answers your question.

Actually it's foolish to be speeding in rain or snow.
I just wish u didn't have to break the bank buying alp. I am a speeder. In Ohio all highway Patrol have and use laser guns. I do u waze but as u said if cop not seen or just parked its to late then. Does anyone know if they got a payment plan

Doesn't look like it BUT credit cards have payment plans of sort. I just tell me self that both the tickets I got from Laser when i wasn't running laser jammer were $475 each for just 21mph over posted speed limit

right just buying a radar/laser detector should give you enough time to react anyways?

so I've watched alot of videos today on this stuff so why would I even invest in one of it doesnt prevent anything. Was told now a days most cops use lasers instead of radars.
Which do you reccomend for motorcycles that are available?

In general the ALP is the best. For motorcycles, you can get the new TMG. It's more affordable and one nice benefit is that you can get by with one head per side and still jam the tough newer guns out there. So it costs less than the ALP, plus you can do 2 heads instead of 4 which makes it even cheaper. You can pick them up here bit.ly/2CyMX3I and use the coupon BLACKFRIDAY50 to save $50.
