    Hi There, very informative - I've only just installed the Blinder during a classic car restoration, I know it's not really for parking, but I liked that feature, I also liked the dash switch, which fitted into my cigarette lighter perfectly, which allows off/ parking/ detect or jam. My question, my install was very, very tricky, both front & back, so were I ever to change to the Alp, as you suggest, update support from Blinder appears to be lacking, can I use the already installed lan type extension cabling of the blinder, otherwise I'm not sure I'd be able to change now? Many thanks Max Uk.

    The ALP is the next addition to my car. I’ve been a V1 user for many years, but unfortunately it no longer gives an adequate level of protection against lasers. My car is a full size sedan, I’m looking for a both sides protection, so what’s the most cost effective ALP configuration you suggest? There’s no Dragon Eye in my area. How long it takes to get it delivered typically ?

    Well Escort has released a new jammer which can also jam the DragonEye (at least to some extent) which the ALP and Stinger can do too, but the ALP does still look to be the most capable and effective.

    soapboxracer182 I do run Waze and Yav1 sometimes at the same time, for myself I run Yav1 all the time and only run Waze with Yav1 when I'm on the H-way. they do not work together as far as syncing, which ever one you choose to be on your display (phone) screen will be the one your are looking at and the other app will be running in the background, so let's say I'm running down the H-way I would have both apps running at the same time but I would choose to have Waze on my phone display. there is a setting in Yav1 that when you get an alert it will show up on your Waze map in its own little separate pop up window and when the alert goes away the pop up window goes away. hope that helps I tried to explain it the best I could. if anyone else can or would like to explain this better please do.

    Is there any difference between the escort passport and the escort x70 besides the Bluetooth and escort live features? Do both detectors perform the sam? Also is the escort x70 a good radar detector to drive around town in a place that only shoots laser k and Ka band. According to the radar detector forum my county doesn't even use instant on.

  • @VortexRadar

    @VortexRadar

    7 жыл бұрын

    If they're aiming down at the top of the car, they won't be able to register a speed in the first place. Look up "cosine error" and it'll explain the issue. They are gonna wait until the car is a little distance away from the bridge so they can shoot the front or rear oncoming or going away so that they can get an accurate speed.

    When installed properly, this means 3 or 4 laser receivers and 2 laser transmitters (neither fiber or square), the Stinger will perform best of all laser jammers. No 'punch through' will be possible at any distance when jamming is active. Because stealth technology is one of the most important values at stinger, the receiving part of the stinger laser system is the key for best performance. (rather add more receivers then jammers. in theory, one one fiber in the middle could be sufficient). Jamming is relatively easy, but the officer will notice he's being jammed cause he's getting a fault code. This because all laser-jammers fire bursts of false laser-pulses for up to several seconds when getting one detection. Stinger needs to 'follow' the lasergun in real time to 'fool' it, so the officer in question doesn't get any fault code. Or in worst case (with few guns) a fault code that doesn't imply it's being jammed. Off coarse, it is necessary that the (newest) gun is being recognized by the Stinger system, otherwise no jamming wil become active, or a general 'jam-routine' is being selected, not capable of jamming that particular gun properly. It's a shame to note that the Stinger isn't being tested and understood the way it deserves.

  • @VortexRadar

    @VortexRadar

    7 жыл бұрын

    In theory but not in practice. I had 3 receivers and 3 transmitters on my Miata and wasn't able to achieve JTG against any gun in practice. Stinger is well aware of the issues and will be rewriting their laser jamming algorithm to address this the way they've done with radar.

  • @analyszerx711

    @analyszerx711

    7 жыл бұрын

    It seems on shorter ranges the receivers might loose tracking of the gun or something. They should offer 2 modes of laser shielding, like 'absolute jamming' and 'absolute stealth'. With 'absolute jamming' selected, the jamming part can then be much more aggressive. The use of 4 receivers, evenly divided over the front of the car will help improve performance a lot. I'm also curious what the results with the fiber transmitters will be, since the performance of those could be better then the standard laser transmitters, though 2 standard ones should do the job as well.

    As always, great information well presented. As Iearn about the various manufacture’s product approaches, it appears to me that none of them is thinking properly out of the box to produce the optimal protections and thereby earn optimal profits. I believe the ideal product will seamlessly merge social communications (Waze), radar detection, laser detection and laser shifting. Why do Wave users have to watch their detectors and then manually enter a warning (removing attention from driving) to help others? I propose Wave should directly communicate with the device and post all true warnings without human involvement. Waze would get much more informative and everyone wins. To make this work, Waze and someone like Escort should do a financial collaboration. Imagine Escort selling hardware for less money to those who are willing to install and operate a high end system linked to Waze at a “pro” level. In turn, Waze premium users pay a monthly subscription to into the network, even without a device. Imagine the profitability which gets the device company a ongoing revenue stream beyond selling new hardware. Imaging how premium Waze type subscription service could obsolete Google Maps and Apple Maps for the serious driver. Rant over. Love this channel.

    Votrtex - Great videos. Your website is excellent too! I am going to install a laser jammer and RD in my new car. Sounds like ALP is still top dog. Have been familiar wth them for a while. Are there any guns in the US that ALP cannot jam? Do you have any info on the new Escort system (Max 360 CI - not sure of the name??) I hear its quite good on paper, but I have been unable to obtain details about the system or its release date. Would love to have a fully integrated laser jammer and RD but I need to balance performance and cost. I have two thoughts right now. One is to go with ALP and use a portable RD (Max360?). The other is to integrate a RD system with ALP (Net Radar?). The target car is a weekend toy so I'm not dealing with a daily commute. I drive lots of back roads in and around GA/NC/TN, which I suspect is mostly radar, and interstates around GA. I live in North Atlanta. Interested in hearing your thoughts. Thanks!

    The MaxCi does look promising, but Escort kind of has a track record of leaving their customers with laser jammers that doesn't get updated. While it's possible that it could be similar to the ALP in terms of performance, Escort doesn't show that they'll keep you protected continually down the line so it'd be hard to recommend them at this point. So the ALP would definitely be the way to go for laser. As for radar, check out my RD guide. It should help you narrow that down a bit. www.vortexradar.com/buy-a-radar-detector/

    I'm with you on the ALP. My decision now is whether to go with Net Radar or the Max 360. I like the idea of the RD being fully integrated, but I also like the plug and play aspect of the Max 360. From a pure performance standpoint, is the Max 360 considerably better?

    The Max Ci 360 hasn't actually been released yet and no one has tested it so no one can say for sure. However, given that it should be an improved version of the M3, it should have better range than the Net Radar, yes. As far as blind spot filtering, the NR is outstanding and Escort has had a bit of a struggle with this with their Max's so we'll have to see. The Max Ci should be fully immune to RDD's while the Net Radar almost. The ALP is a known performer and is very effective and constantly gets updated. Escort has a history of releasing new jammers that are subpar relative to the competition and then never updating them. Maybe they'll do something different this time around? The ALP / Net Radar is a known strong performer and Escort has a history of overpromising and underdelivering which is why I'm hesitant about saying how good it will be just from initial hype and expectations.

    Vortex Radar - I read somewhere years ago that dark colored vehicles with no chrome and no front plate make it more difficult for the laser gun to get a reading. Is there any truth to this?

  • @VortexRadar

    That's true with some older laser guns, yeah. With newer ones, they can get readings off any car even if it's dark, matte, has no plate, and the officer is aiming at a bumper or whatever.

    Nope, they're totally unique. Most cops don't know what jammers look like and even if they do, the penalty for having them in CA is very minimal, far less than for speeding actually.

    I've never heard of anyone actually getting a ticket for having jammers in CA. Even if they did, the penalty is like a fix it ticket, similar to having no front plate or window tint that's too dark. If you use your jammers correctly (slow down and quickly kill them once shot) then they won't even know you have them. There's lots of people who've run jammers in CA for years without issue.

Vortex isn't biased, he's brutally honest, just because that honesty doesn't align with the product you personally like, doesn't make him wrong or paid for. Above anything else, even if I didn't know Vortex, I know the market as do many others and they all come to the same consensus - don't waste your money on K40 products.

Everyone is welcome to go out there and do the research themselves, it's not difficult to find or go to somewhere like RDF and have a read, I'll let people come to their own conclusions about K40, I don't *need* to convince people but it seems you need to write posts that come across as adverts.

    How does this ALP thing react to the lasers coming from most modern SUVs (like infiniti) that have parking lasers and brake lasers going at all times? Such lasers set off my detector often. Side note: These built in computers for the devices are over complicated. I just need a laser jammer that will jam everything and can be turned on and off with a toggle switch. No counter, no LED screen, no silly little keypad. this seems aimed towards people who do not know how to swap their own engine, perhaps even change their own oil. No offense intended. Is it possible for me to just install the ALP laser function and run it to a plain old on and off toggle switch? I assume no.

  • @VortexRadar

    @VortexRadar

    6 жыл бұрын

    It is specifically designed to filter out false alerts like that. It's much more advanced than a radar detector's laser sensor. As for a kill switch, you can create something like that. I saw one just the other day where someone custom built it. I'm not sure about the wiring needed to do that, but you could build something for that if you choose.

  • @ganador13

    @ganador13

    6 жыл бұрын

    Filtering of any kind raises the fear of possible miss filtering. For example, a police laser being misidentified as an infiniti. Especially considering these are forms of light, not radio waves. I guess, in short, I prefer doing my own thinking and stick to the alerts given by my radar and laser detector. I am still investigating but it seems the ALP, so far is the best choice for "which is sure to jam everything". I am only interested in blazing light in front and behind at all times, turning off the toggle switch only after I see an officer and slow down. Thank you for the info.

  • @VortexRadar

    @VortexRadar

    This stuff has been thought through thoroughly and works very well. If you don't want filtering, get a V1, turn on laser, and brake every time a Mazda, Infiniti, or Volvo passes by. :p The pulse patterns from an Infiniti are different than what comes out of a police radar gun. Radar detectors don't do sophisticated signal analysis. Laser jammers do because it's necessary as part of the jamming algorithm. Certain laser guns have specific filtering options if it does impact things such as the Poliscan and Stalker guns. Take a look and you'll see. alpupdate.com/Configure Go to North America, scroll down and change the green button from "PDC Only" to "PDC & LID," and you'll see the different Poliscan and Stalker options. Then scroll back up to "Installation on LCC equipped cars (laser anticrash)" and you'll even see options specifically for people who are installing the ALP on their own Infiniti's with laser based collision avoidance systems (which is different than people who are encountering it from other people's Infiniti's). So this stuff has been thought through pretty extensively. It's little details that those of us who like to think of these things really enjoy. Definitely take a closer look at the ALP. I think you'll enjoy it. :)

  • @ganador13

    @ganador13

    "Laser jammers do because it's necessary" "every time a Mazda, Infiniti, or Volvo passes by" My intention is not to brake or "panic" at all. If I feel safe trusting the jammer to prevent any reading 100% of the time, then such a reaction is not necessary, only looking around and deciding if the V1 (which I already have had for ages) is pointing out an officer and then responding accordingly in a calm slow manner of response. As for "taking a closer look at the ALP", you don't need to sell me, you already did when stating you have seen others set it up with a simple toggle. I do intend on learning more for the purpose of educating myself on how this works so that I may feel confident in the first premise: It will work 100% of the time, never allowing my speed to be read". I am only educated with laser communication and range finding. Though I assume this may be somewhat related to the latter. This does not constitute electronic warfare and therefore is not viable reason for me to be pulled over in my state. But I would still shut it off and slow down if I spot an officer pointing that thing at me, rendering them incapable of sending a pacer. "It's little details that those of us who like to think of these things really enjoy" I understand this can be some sort of hobbyist item with a community and thread forum group and so on. To me, however, it is just a tool and requires functioning efficiently for my purposes, adding to my list of other tools. Again, thank you so much for the information. I will, likely, pick the ALP up online by halloween. This weekend is being spent learning.
