I have the v2 and find on certain tables it's a bit too low for me. So I wanted to know exactly how much higher the v3 goes. It was a face palm moment when you compared heights by showing with your hand "here" vs "here" on video 🤦‍♂🤣 Get the tape measure out! Now that I have the v3, it can go 4cm higher than the v2. Measured from the table top to the top of my screen. You're welcome.

Great review - tempted by the increased height, have been enjoying V2 for the last three years and is an excellent and sturdy product. The attention to detail is great and the sleeve is also very well made.

I’ve always liked the different comparisons of laptop stands out there. This one elevates your laptop to a higher level, which is interesting. Thanks for the comparison, Tom!

Pack Hacker's on site review says it makes you "look unapproachable" at cafe's and while using it in public. While I agree that I probably look like a dork using it (I'm not going to stop because it saves my neck from strain), people ask me about it almost every time I have it out. I've literally made several friends and business connections using my Roost at cafes and coworking spots all over the place. One thing people don't mention in reviews is that it has a much smaller footprint than your actual laptop (I use a 16" MBP) so it's great on those little round cafe or airport tables and whatever nooks and crannies you find and have to work on while traveling. It even fits on those tables the size of dinner plates in busy districts in Hong Kong that are designed to make you uncomfortable so you sit for as short a time as possible. Also by being elevated, your laptop is safe from spills. By being able to raise the height of your laptop camera you have a much more favorable and professional angle when doing video calls. In short, it's totally rad and worth the price. I've tried the cheaper options and they're not nearly as good. Normalize being a Roost dork in public!

Can Roost be used on a flight's tray table? I'm aware of different dimensions of tray tables for various airplanes, but say for approximately 41.2 cm (16.5 in) x 24.1 cm (9.5 in) table tray.

I own a MSI ge76 laptop. Its 15.6 inches in width and an incredibly thick laptop, really thick. Would this stand even work for me?

i just got this and realized not all the contact points are made out of rubber especially the back side of the front curved hooks. Has this damaged anyone's laptop? Also Amazon reviews show scratches from the bottom legs from someone positioning their roost v3. Quite concerning given the price

I have a laptop in a roost stand and would really like to have an iPad as a second monitor that is an equal height. What’s the best lightweight option to do this?

I'm searching for the same thing. I haven't bought one yet, but I'm looking at the side clip designs like the Mountie+. It looks like they create a great hold and don't seem to tip or unbalance a Macbook Pro. For the best extended screen experience, it's really nice to have as small of a gap as possible between monitors. I think another stand would be cumbersome to arrange on the table, heavier, bulkier when packed, and have a larger footprint, which actually matters when working on small tables in an airport or cafe. Hope you find what you're looking for. Tag me in a reply if you've got a great solution.

Can you type and use the touchpad on the laptop while it is elevated? Not for seriously working, but would it stay stable for simple use cases like browsing KZread videos, without depending an external keyboard and mouse?

I have used and abused the original Roost and 2.0 for years with my big dumb hands directly on the keyboard day in and day out for years and I love it. They absolutely hold up unlike similar cheaper products I've tried.

The correlation between height and body length is actually not that big. I'm 5'7", I have a friend who is 6'2" and we have the same length body (we got measured for backpacks together). Body length is what matters not height.

I thought so too! It totally seems that way, but it's not. By the time my original Roost died (after years of me thumping it with my hands directly on the keyboard day in and day out), other knock offs had come on the market and I didn't want to fork over full price. I ended up buying similar stands at $39 (broke after 3 months) and $59 (cracked after 2 months). They were not as light and elegant and kept falling apart. I went back to Roost and couldn't be happier. I'm still on my Roost 2.0 and have given them as gifts because they're so awesome. I promise you one "expensive" Roost every 5 years that can stand up to daily use is better than a bunch of $50 pieces of trash that will fail at the worst moment. No affiliation with the company. I just dig their gear.
