The Hunter is the most flexible member of your party. With devastating damage-dealing abilities and the best healing abilities in the game, the Hunter can do it all and fits within any team composition. My first playthrough I am going Light-side. Plenty of damage dealers already on our roster but good solid heals are rarer. And with having the versatility of choosing dmg OR heals on a lot of cards its very useful imo.

    I'm sure you've learned by now, but the Dark Side ability is Annihilation. X damage, with X being a base damage times the number of heroism you have. It takes all of it, but it does absolutely massive AOE.

    I have a question... So if you want to stick to a specific alignment you have to replace all the cards in your deck to match the alignment, correct? Because im leaning towards the dark path but I use some light cards because they are better from my dark ones and that keeps me from raising my alignment, lol.

    Can this build hold up on ultimate lll? Seems like you'd be so vulnerable with such low damage output.

    You can, it just takes awhile cause you gotta pretty much get double the light points to reach the max light rank.

    Nearly for every build, I use these five cards together with the balanced collar (draw 2 Hunter cards when 3 neutral abilities were used): Attack: Quick Slash (neutral) (Draw a Hunter card on KO) Quick Slash (neutral) (Draw a Hunter card on KO) Skill: Wrath (neutral) (Draw last Attack) Call to Arms (light) (Draw last Attack) Inspire (light) (Draw last Attack) Core Deck/ Draw engine: The goal with these cards is to establish an engine with which you can draw every Hunter card you want by using “Quick Slash” and get the Attack card back using one of the Skill cards and draw even more cards using the “Balanced Collar”. I also tried playing with only 1 “Quick Slash”, but you really want to have that card in your hand at the beginning. Like this you will never run out of cards or card plays since the Skill cards are all ‘Free’ and the attacks are ‘Quick’. Additionally, you will easily get your Heroism to the maximum since you will double all Heroism you gain in this turn by using “Call to Arms”. Every time you play “Inspire”, it reduces the Heroism cost of a card to 0 until you play it, which is a nice support for Hunter but also for other hero Heroic cards. Sadly due to “Call to Arms” and “Inspire” being light cards it is hard to use this as a dark deck. “Wrath” makes all Hunter cards you draw (also Heroic) for the next 2 turns critical and it is a neutral card that also counts for the ‘Balanced collar’. The other cards can be chosen at will. Exhaust Heroic: When you want to play very strong Heroic cards I recommend using “Patience” (neutral) two times with the "Ancestors' Guidance" passive so that your ‘Exhaust’ cards are not removed. Due to “Inspire” they should cost no Heroism at all. A drawback of these cards is that they are not counting as Attack and you won’t be able to get them back immediately by the Skill cards. Therefore, as last card I recommend “Holy Gift” with the ‘Free’ mod so that the used Heroic card stays in your hand if needed. “Holy Gift” is also an ‘Exhaust’ card but due to the "Ancestors' Guidance" it will stay in your deck. Different possibilities for the second “Patience” would be “Bladestorm” (neutral) or “Annihilation” (dark) which look awesome and can deal tons of damage if enemies are standing relatively close together but usually at that time you already got rid of most enemies with “Quick Slash” and due to the Draw-engine you don’t need the extra cards from “Bladestorm”, which is why I prefer single target damage. Light Deck (Morning Star): This deck is very good if you want to play a light balanced Hunter since you will get 1 light side point for every 4 light cards played. Add 2 copies of “Morning Star” (light) with the ‘Quick’ mod. The damage of this card increases by 50% every time you play one (until 300%). In the beginning it is not that strong but at maximum this card deals even more damage than “Wild Strike” (250%,) which is why you want to play it as often as you can in the beginning which fits well to this deck where you have a lot of card draw and can recycle Attack cards. However, to buff the “Morning Star” damage can take a while and depending on the mission can become tricky. The last card has to be a Heroic card which can be chosen at will. I recommend using something to weaken stronger enemies and finish them with “Morning Star”. If you want to use e.g. “Fully Charged” and not “Ancestors' Guidance”, “Bladestorm” or “Holy Burst”(light) are decent possibilities for this purpose that do not have ‘Exhaust’. My Favourite: Depending on missions I change abilities or a few cards but generally my other 3 cards are: “Wild Strike” (dark) Mod: + Dmg if Hunter/enemy is at full health or ‘Quick’ “Holy Spark” (light) Mod: Strengthened on KO “Patience” (neutral) Mod: +Dmg if target has block With this setup you are very flexible. “Wild Strike” deals a lot of damage and looks pretty awesome and can be recycled by the Skill cards, but it can cause ‘Vulnerable’ (stackable) to Hunter. There is an ability where Hunter becomes immune to conditions but if you don’t have that yet, “Holy Spark” can cure all negative effects (also from other Heroes). Additionally, you can boost your damage by 50% with ‘Strengthened’ when you KO an enemy (stackable) and since it has ‘Quick’ you will not lose a play (Alternatively, you can use items to get ‘Strengthened’ or cure Hunter). “Patience” is the card to get rid of big bosses and with "Ancestors' Guidance" you won’t lose it if you play it. However, you usually just need it once since a critical “Wild Strike” with ‘Strengthened’ can also remove most enemies.

    until you go full dark and find the tactical nuke to drop every heroism you have for 120 damage per heroism, i love just building up to 1 k damage and killing everything, summoning circle dropped in one attack, soulbound enemies nuked from orbit i love it at first it's like 62 damage though but still broken even then

    My initial playthrough was Light... and regretted it. "Summon Charlie" is a waste because it's only for three turns, and then you have FOUR characters to deal with random card choices. Just not worth it when you can have more options going Dark. Further, going light doesn't boost your light skills, and you can still have healing cards on a dark-focused build. I just feel that Annihilation is a MUCH better ability than Summon Charlie.

  • @alexubel

    I had Bladestorm, Summon Charlie, and Annihilation. I'm fairly positive that Summon Charlie is not the Light Side card given I never gained light side points in my play through. Though I suppose it's possible my game glitched.

  • @Kestral287

    @Kestral287

    You'll get the other card from completing the Words of Power quest, so not a bug. Summon Charlie is the light legendary. You do get two copies of the legendary of your alignment though, so that's relevant for upgrades. That said, the Legendary is not particularly important to the light/dark question because you can only use one and frankly the correct answer is Bladestorm. The collars are really the big selling point to the alignments.

    What's the consensus guys. Is hunter canonically female or male.

  • @alexubel

    @alexubel

    Female. You can tell by the fact that they used the same model for both and there is dialogue where you are referred to as she/her regardless. The running animation is a big tip off as well that being able to choose a male character came secondary.
