Actually, in real life, the Heinkel He219 "Uhu" was a night fighter. "Uhu" is German for "owl" (a nocturnal hunter). It was designed to attack British bombers at night, hence the radar antenna on the nose + the heavy armament. I haven't played this in WT yet, but again IRL two of the 30mm guns were pointed upwards as "Schräge Musik", making it possible to attack an enemy bomber from underneath the plane (at night when the bomber crew was unaware of the He219).

Yes, you're absolutely right about the Heinkel He-219 "Uhu". Much like the He-219, the American Northrop P-61 "Black Widow" was a large, heavily armed plane designed specifically for the role of night fighter. Building fighter specifically for night ops was unheard of in 1939, but much of the air war was fought by night. Especially in Europe, but also in the Pacific. I'm not 100 percent sure, but I don't think the He-219 ever flew by day. Less than 300 were ever made, but it might have become a German equivalent of the British "Mosquito"? But it was too few, too late to make a real difference. What do you think? :)

It was a terribly scary business up there at night. I am sure u are right that many night bomber crews never knew what hit them. Perhaps it was for the best, but the stress and anxiety must have been nearly unbearable. During AND between missions. I'm very interested in WW2, but especially the European air war, and I've always deeply admired those brave men and boys (most in their late teens or twenties) who kept flying regardless.

You mentioned that the German nightfighters some times stalked RAF bombers back to base and attacked while they landed. It reminded me of a book I highly recommend you read: "A Thousand Shall Fall" by Murray Peden. It is the autobiographical account of Murray Peden, who was a pilot in the Canadian air force during WW2. It is one of the best "real life" books I've read about this topic. Okay, the part of this book you reminded me off...Ok, SPOILER ALERT! ;) : One night returning from a mission in a Stirling bomber, Peden is about to land in England, when tracers start flying around the plane from above. A gerry fighter strafes the runway as he land, but luckily the AA guns at the base chase of the German. But it is a very close call.

The P-61 "Black Widow" had a max speed of 589 km/h (366 mph) while the Heinkel He-219 was a bit faster with a max speed of 616 km/h (385 mph). The "Mosquito" was just faster than both of them at 668 km/h (or 415 mph), and these top speed specs might actually be slightly confusing. One important X-factor is: for long how and how quickly could you actually push the engines to the maximum? Anyway as one RAF officer (I forget who) said: "The Mosquito" only has ONE flaw: we don't have enough of them" :)

Well, some months after listening to your advice and buying the 219, I must say it's been the best I've had so far. Fastest cheap-ish premium in the game, I started from scratch in october and now have most of tier III researched. :)

The He 219 is certainly worth it. I had one from A2A Simulations that I flew in FS2009 and it was awesome. Looks great in War Thunder too. Kudos to the player that built it for WT.

This thing is a lot of fun in SB too. You do God's work there, killing gun shipping B-29 and B-17s.

This plane is great. My K/D radio in this is like 3:1 out of 300 matches!!! But it is pretty much an all offence no defence plane.

To anyone. TOTALLY worth it. I ground my 1st jet in no time. And, it is a lot of fun...it's amazing how many players try to go headon!! HA! Not to mention a lovely plane to look at.

Bought it some time ago and i love it, but when i get damaged and fly back to base, how the (piiiip) do i land with the gear in such awkward position.

bc I am more of a fighter guy, I like the premium tempest more, but if I get some money, I should get this thing (and make a fokker g.1a myself XD not gonna happen)

I found the Bostwick's P-47M-1-RE is a good American grinder if you put on full armament (8x Hvar Rockets, 1x 2000lb Bomb, 2x 1000lb Bomb) and just Suicide rush the bombing points with 1/2 second fuse delay with a premium account you get about 8-10k Rp every match because of the high RP rate of the P47M-1-RE it is not a very sustainable option however as you do not get many lion heads due to the fact that you will more then likely die every game and the P47 has something like a 10k lion head repair rate.

i use Mk103 for log snajp shoots so bind them separatly from rest of the guns or as i do keep guns on separatly keys

I wonder why the air belts work so well on tanks as opposed to AP, is this the case in tank RB too?

I went against the harrier and f4 phantom in a custom battle and I was in the he-219. I ended up always beating them in the head on and in turn fights. I killed them probably around 8-10 times each. And they killed me twice each.

These things zoom up to u and those 30mm cannons come out of nowhere

I bought this thing off of recommendations from this video, and like ttt45 and some word of mouth and tbh serious buyers remorse. granted it was a year ago this was made, and the meta changes month to month, but I just haven't had any luck. Like you show here, you get dove on all the time, its rare that you don't. You can't climb well so you always get dove on. You can't reach bombers to bomber hunt, and they generally are flying back by the time you get to 4k. Most aren't stupid enough to head on you, but maybe that was different when it first came out. I take it out a fair bit in SB too mostly speaking about RB above, and even there I am struggling mightily in most cases to go 1 for 1. There are some exception games but given that I bought this for mainly bomber hunting, it just doesn't cut it, nor does it ground pound well. For some kind of credit grinding I need consistency. This in no way has that. Though I keep trying to make it work, and perhaps that might change. But for right now, and after I bought that, I bought that La7 and earned a few million in it so far while I wish I hadn't bought that 219, and went ahead and bought the ta154 instead. Back then I bought the 219 over it because I thought tier 4 earned more sl and rp on average, but I guess that isn't always the case. Though it doesn't get penalized for tier 5 RP, but if I don't play it it don't matter. This might change if they buff the 30s. But still yet I just can't recommend it in its current form.

Butcher_ Bird_44 my friend this thing is one of the planes that shines in tank RB. It's very fast and pretty maneuverable it has 2x mk103s that get the HVAP 30mm shells so you can kill tanks with gun runs( now that rockets are nerfed this is one of the best tank killers at its BR)

do 335 b2 is less maneuvrable but much faster and climbes great and the he129... well just see the vid tells you enough about it so take your pick

This plane looks like a junkers 288 with the bomb bay, defensive gunner and some other crew members removed so they could use it as a heavy fighter.

best and most worth premium aircraft i advise you all get it its godly if used correctly, however its extremely sturdy to bullets and can easily survive fire from my experiences

Talisman a Do 217 if you want to grind research. One bomb run in RB, killing 2 targets is 6-10k rp. In arcade, if you get left alone, you can hit 20k+ rp bombing bases per match. My max so far was 40 tons with 24,000 research. i.imgur.com/52DyUN6.jpg

Something around 100-150k SL and 15-20k RP, that's usually what you get with a premium vehicle, premium account and a good match

The MK103 is still amazing for ground strike since it has HVAP shells, it's the MK108 that now does no damage against anything with armour :P It's still a good plane, been using it a lot in my 4.3 german ground lineup, it can melt anything but the heaviest of tanks

New Sub and been playing WT since April 2016. I have a few questions. Im noticing your PRESETS. Can you explain how this is done and how your use this feature. Gun Convergence; Can you explain how you determine your settings for types of aircraft Central and Wing Mounted as well as Central and Wing mounted guns and what you think is the best plan for each. Lastly your thought on strategy gameplay for Air battles in RB gameplay. Fighters Bombers and aircraft in between like the Firefly. Very well done video.

Cheers, and welcome! To answer your questions: *Presets:* On PC, you should find them just below the bar where your vehicles are. Imagine them to be pages in a book. Instead of having to switch out the vehicles in each slot one by one you can use these presets to save your current loadout and quickly switch between them. To add or rename a preset, simply click on the button that says "Presets". *Gun Convergence:* Generally, central mounted guns don't really need convergence. That said, it becomes more important the farther apart the guns are (i.e. mounted in the wings). This one's a bit down to preference, but as a rule of thumb between 300-500m are your best bet. Vertical targeting also compensates for the drop of each gun so that it hits the target correctly at your indicated gun convergence, but is generally not needed unless you have guns of different calibers mounted, or guns mounted at different altitudes. *Strategy:* Strategy play is somewhat limited in RB, there are some aircraft that just don't really fit the Meta of the game. Aircraft like the Firefly and Firebrand are generally better employed in the combined battles against enemy tanks, but end up being cannon fodder in regular Air RB

I see what you mean about the presets and I think I will do presets when I finish the TREE. As for Gun Convergence I have been using 900 for central and 600 for all others, bombers I try to use the guns myself and have a setting wrong so even if i use ADSWQE keys maneuvering the aircraft is hard or unresponsive. I play mostly RB AIR because it is what i prefer, but in the process of RP the TREE I find it very hard to get better in the game and although I do ok in AB I never get enough of a score to make it worth the damage I have with my aircraft for repair. Battles IMO are too quick in both modes. I have fun but too many one way players kill the match or leave people out to dry or sacrifice for them to get a kill or stealing of a kill all make the game a little frustrating at times for me. Then there are the Long Time players that Retread into the game as a NEW Player like Pilot rank 17 and have skills of a person of the highest rank. Anyway i watch your videos and others to help me get a better handle on the game to get better. Thanks keep it up. GoGoFly

God I miss the days when all antitank cannons were this effective. Because when MK103 got first nerfed, the other large caliber guns in other nations got hit just as hard.

This aircraft was of course a a specific night fighter

As cheap as the He-219 is compared to other T4 premiums, I'll stick with the German Tempest that I got on sale. If I wanted a good CAS plane, I'd just fly the B6/R3. That being said it seems like a decent plane if you either have money to spend or don't have a German premium yet, looks as fun as the aforementioned 410.

Marvin The Nerd I got the 335 and this plane for ground attack in tank RB. and I gotta say this plane the 219 if you use it in a 4.3 BR line up it's really good and you could use it in higher tiers just fine. The do335 on the other hand flies like a brick and has a hard time pulling up and will usually end most of your gun runs with you in the dirt. It looks good on paper but you need to be really good with it. So I'd say get the 219 first and if you really like the idea of gun runs in tank RB you can then get the 335 for more of a challenge. I'd say there mostly just planes that you will only use in tank RB

Stanley Mouk it has 2x mk103 30mm guns that have access to the HVAP belt so it's still very good against ground I highly recommend it for gun runs in tank RB

I bought this plane because it is user created and has a great model. Since then, I am seriously struggling to find a role for this. I bet on bomber hunting, if there are none or none left, my game is essentially over. I will be very hesistant to trow my 6000m altitude away for a bunker or a tank, then losing all energy I had and really struggling to maoever down there. As a boom and zoomer, I don't feel confident enough to outrun anything if they get close. I actually have quite a number of zero-point-winning games in this one, which is unique on its own. CAS I do not play.

If anyone is debating getting this plane, do it. I easily make 10,000 to 15,000 RP every game when I ground pound. It is extremely easy to win games by killing ground targets in this thing. Load all air target belts and go after AI mediums. Line yourself up behind them so the tanks are all in a line and then just open up. 10 Tank kills in 100 bullets. Its so easy

Nonsense. Post war evaluation of the 219 showed that the plane could not only reach its airbase on one engine, but go around for a second attempt.

I use this thing in air RB and wreck tanks and planes head on all the time

Yeah, the HE 30mm shells currently go through AI tanks. Same with the Hunter's ADENs (They can even kill Heavy Tanks on Korea)

Editing is a thing of taste. Captions and/or music, maybe cut out uneventful parts. The editing software is a bit more of an issue. Find some freeware with good reviews. Or use Windows Movie Maker if you have it. Make sure the music you use is "Fair Use" under the Creative Commons Licence. (incompetech.com and machinimasound.com are good places to find such). Inform yourself how the CC by 4.0 licence works beforehand. I haven't watched the video yet but I have to disagree anyway, the premium 335 is the best grinder, if you wep in a 15 degree climb each match you intercept bomber perfectly and can always kill 1 or 2 bombers a match and get 15k rp easy, I grinded all 6 tier4, planes and the mig 15 in two days with it
