    @@reorderdj In no particular order -exhale: armin and ferry anything gouryella -saltwater: chicane -Silence: delerium, Tiesto -out there (5th dimension) : masters & nickson, justine suissa -cry 'as well as' adagio for strings, ferry -seven cities: solarstone (So many amazing remixes) AND SO MANY MORE!!! I saw a video saying that 'magic fly: space' is considered one of the first trance songs, and just listening to it omg I can totally see it. Imagine listening to something like that in the 80's it really is so creative and has that super ambient trance vibe. I could talk about trance music all day haha. And cant forget 'York- Reachers of civilisation - rank 1 remix' (that might not be a classic not sure when rank 1 made that) UGH when that melody comes back at 4 minutes! SO GOOD. If im being honest idk what years trance tracks can be considered classics. I only recently discovered the genre a couple years ago.

    Got to love how the concept of "future" trance here is basically the trance tons of unknown artists have been doing so far and being criticized for it all the way cause it was not up to the "standards" of the "modern" trance ^^''''

    @@reorderdj I'd say probably a mix of both in different situations. I'm pretty new to Trance production myself, so actually talking of things trance producers IO know had reported. The main complains as such were related to "not enough layers on the bass" or something similar, not enough punchiness in the high end of the kick, and so on. I mean I think it is possible at times that it was related to music quality, but I also believe people are just used to that super heavy, super layered sounds nowdays and just consider "bad" what has less than that. This said... Since you answered I'll also try my luck with a question: how to prevent the main melodic line and the mid bass to clash during the drop without cutting the lows of the melody? Can't seem to find a way to :P

    I have a lot of trouble with the low end of the kicks. I use SPAN for gain staging and balance, but whenever a limit the master, the kick is too loud and even distorted a little bit. How can I fix it?

  • @reorderdj

    @reorderdj

    2 ай бұрын

    Could be many reasons for that bro. Depends on your mix

  • @mechadonia

    @mechadonia

    9 күн бұрын

    Most likely your kick is too loud in the premaster already, but you don’t notice it until you put the limiter on. If your kick is distorting it is probably the element that is triggering the limiter the hardest so I am guessing it is already significantly louder than the other elements in your track. If the kick sounds like it gets lost if you turn it down, you can also sweep through w an eq bump and find a frequency to boost that will allow the kick to cut through the mix. Or eq cut away from elements that seem to be masking your kick.

    @@marianosantos687 sorry to say but I can’t tell u much except just try to underdo it and see if you like it better. If you’re actually hearing that it’s overdone then just dial back the compression. But if youre just feeling like there’s an imaginary mastering engineer in your head judging you for turning a knob for what feels like too far even though it sounds good to you, then leave it. Wish I could say more but frankly I just set and forget the master comp. Wish I could give u more technical advice but I don’t really know too much of what I’m doing with compression either lol. Just understand that there’s no “right” way to do it, ppl use a lot of jargon discussing mastering which makes it feel like there’s a right and wrong way to do it, reality is it’s more of an art than a science.

    @@reorderdj I mean, Ferry could have been being facetious there, but if you take his quote at face value, according to him, we should be making trance that sounds like it's from 2004. By all means, connect with what made trance so wonderful to you in the first place (for me it's the 92-97 period before Robert Miles ushered in Trance's gentrification at-large) but for a genre that's always been futuristic by ethos, it's seems uninspired to basically be Homer Simpson saying "Rock achieved perfection in 1974, it's a scientific fact" on this
