I use something in moving streams called a flex-o-drop sinker. It has a swivel at one end, you run it like a fish finder with a small jig or some bait. Its essentially a pipe cleaner filled with shot so it undulates like a snake. It almost never hangs up unless you pause and it drops into a snag. Otherwise it scoots over them. What he's failing to explain is that you need a 10'-12' rod to get a 3'-4' leader for this to work. If you have a 7'-8' rod, your leader won't be long enough to get to the bottom.
@thegreatoutdoors3366
2 ай бұрын
It works just fine, we use a 7 foot rod and any leader length you want, a shorter leader will make it easy to see when the fish bites. The advantage of a slip float is you can set it whatever depth you want, I’ve even fished 40 feet deep with a slip bobber.

@thegreatoutdoors3366 howd you manage to fish 40' of water with a slip bobber?
@ericlonginotti7556

@@1BigMistakee because you put a small bead above the slip bobber.. and you set the little string knots that come with the beads to whatever depth you want.. the knots are small enough to reel on spool and cast but they stop the beads and slip bobber when it sinks that far
@thegreatoutdoors3366
2 ай бұрын
@@1BigMistakeeI should make a video about my slip bobber setup for fishing jetties. You get a string bobber stop that can be tightened anywhere on the line to the depth you want to fish. I usually fish lingcod and rockfish with a slip bobber. If the water is dirty I use a short leader (less than a foot) and fish very close to the bottom, and if the water is clear I use a longer leader (2 to 3 feet) and keep the lead weight further off the bottom. Good luck!

Problem comes with current… nothing worse then fishing with strong current and your bobber gets sucked all the way across the bridge/river in 1 second… anyone have any solutions? I fish a really rock bridge, bites always great, but too many snags for shrimp forced to use artificial swim baits to stay off bottom.
@jesuswasbrown6960

I avoid where the current is strongest, my best catches are at the edge of the current spill. Carolina rigged live shrimp is my go to. Avoid current that is pulling the bait towards you. I try to target where the bait might be pooling. Rarely get snagged but it will happen eventually. if you're using a bobber in current make sure you have some type of weight holding the bait straight(jig head/splitshot)

Hey! This is our custom-made HeySkipper fishing rod, which will be available soon on our website for sale. You can check it out here. www.heyskipperfishing.com/ 😁
nah dude, those were placed there for erosion protection
What he's failing to explain is that you need a 10'-12' rod to get a 3'-4' leader for this to work. If you have a 7'-8' rod, your leader won't be long enough to get to the bottom.

@@1BigMistakee because you put a small bead above the slip bobber.. and you set the little string knots that come with the beads to whatever depth you want.. the knots are small enough to reel on spool and cast but they stop the beads and slip bobber when it sinks that far

Good luck!
"Trout"!!!
I use a slip sinker float to catch rainbow trout in Cincinnati ohio. This float has a built-in sinker on it no sinker needed at the bottom. . 🐟

So where are you originally from I'm originally from Cincinnati myself. There are a lot of fishing locations state parks and rivers. You just need to know where to look. Do you have a boat too ?

Try. lake Isabel Loveland, Pine Hill lake Mason Ask Google for More Pay Lakes in the area including State Parks. Little Miami River when the water goes down there are great pockets to fish for Smallmouth Bass and Catfish Hope that helps.
so why not simply float fishing.

Don’t fish heavy current, aim for deep, slow moving pools.

It seems a great idea, but could you be more clear about measures? How long should the line after de sinker be so that it works? And what's the approximate distance from the float to the sinker?
Bro it’s called a bobber.. been around since fish learned how to swim.

But I don't WANT to catch rocks!
That looked 14.5, lm just saying!
If the leader is not the correct length it will still snag
