Right! They were definitely a staple for me in high school. I remember there being many more options other than Clean and Clear at that time (the 2000s) as well. Neutrogena had some that were the same as the Clean and Clear, but i LOVED the ones made of rice paper that brands like Burt's Bees and Palladio sold. I was so mad when Burt's Bees discontinued theirs, and I don't even know if you can find the paper kind anywhere these days 🤷

For many years I had very oily skin. I couldn’t wear makeup without looking like I doused my face in literal grease after just a couple hours of wearing foundation. Thankfully birth control cleared that up a couple years ago. Probably the only thing that truly helped access sebum production for me. I consider it a blessing lol. I remember when I first used niacinamide in skincare and was blown away by how much it helped lessen oiliness. I’m really glad I’m not sensitive to it because it really does help with so many things.

THANK YOU Dr. Dray! This came at the perfect time. I spent 2 days last week at both Walmart and CVS (20 min each) standing in the skin care section looking for oily skin care products. I was completely at a loss. I spent my entire life with normal to dry skin and very few breakouts (I know I was a lucky teen) and now in my 50's thanks to menopause my skin has changed to normal/oily with some acne thrown in for good measure. I was able to change up cleansing OK but had not idea how to moisturize correctly. I keep my skin care pretty simple and you have been so helpful. Thanks for being there for us!

Thanks for your contents. I'm a guy with oily skin in T zone - actually, mine isn't just a simple case of oily skin but I'm more on the seborrheic side, so my skin tends to be quite easily irritated and (sometimes) flaky. This is why I mostly tend to wash my face just once, in the evening, especially in colder seasons. Shampooing frequently (say, at least every 2-3 days) in order to keep dandruff under control seems to be essential. Cleansers with niacinamide, or azelaic acid derivatives are quite interesting and (provided they're mild and intended for daily use) quite well tolerated. As for moisturization and sunscreen, I'm currently loving some products from the brand Isdin.

I've noticed you mention Neutrogena products a lot, especially the NG salicylic acid cleanser, but unfortunately the place that I come from has only Neutrogena hand cream and lip balm... that's pretty much it :( so I use the cerave foaming cleanser, which has ceramides, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid and no salycilic acid. Well, I'll try to find something with salycilic acid in it to clean my skin in the morning, cause yeah I'm the type who likes to wash their face twice a day))) thank you for the tips, they're as always of great help.

I use the Biore Rose quartz charcoal cleanser in the morning and sometimes in emergency the cetaphil cleanser for oily skin only once and a while I love trying different cleansers for night time by Neutrogena, comfort zone and elf cleansers particularly. For sunscreen I think it’s good to wear a mineral one for oily skin . Sometimes the “oil control ones” or the “oil free” ones strip all your oil in fact most do and I don’t want to go for that look, like the Neutrogena spf 15 moisturizer and sunscreen for example, so I would not use those types all the time…I always double cleanse and I have that ponds one but NOT for summer …so, I use aveeno oil sometimes coconut sometimes grape seed oil I have to be careful of what I choose the palmers one is not bad but leaves a residue . But I always always use an oil cleanser as my first step twice a day.

Love the vibrant blue you're wearing today. Looks great on you. My skin just can't tolerate salicylic acid. I tried many brands including the Peach Slices one. Enjoyed this informative video. Thanks, as always, for all that you do for us. Happy Wednesday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a lovely evening. 💞

My skin breaks out terribly when I try using salicylic acid or glycolic acid. Also becomes very irritated and flakey. I've tried using every other day but had the same issues.

HOLY GRAIL moisturizer for oily skin (found via Dr. Dray!) -- Cetaphil Gentle Clear Mattifying Acne Moisturizer. This has improved my skin like no other product I've tried in years. Reduces redness and keeps the shine away all day. LOVE IT. Highly recommend!

Hope to find some affordable options here. Non comedogenic, non oily sunscreens are becoming a luxury with the cheapest around $2 a ml wich means around $35 a month for sunscreen, since using on face, chest, neck and reapplying once makes it go fast.

Hi Dr Dray 🙋🏻‍♀️ one of your ✨Glazed Donut ✨ oily skin followers over here. I do wash my face 2x but because of your vids, I learned to use a super gentle non-foaming cleaner in the AM. I think that helped my skin a lot… must’ve been over-cleansing. In fact, now that I am more balanced at this point, it’s less about the face oil and more so about my eye boogers… 😅 I have dry eyes and other eye issues so I guess overnight my eyes try to wash out a lot and that buildup for me feels so gross. And unfortunately, I can’t use SA because it’s contraindicated with my current Wenlevi topical acne cream. Do you have any tips with this Rx?? Excited to watch the rest of this vid 💜

Hmm, going to try the salicylic acid wash in the morning recommendation. I personally just use a gentle facial cleanser and lotion (both CeraVe) but I guess because it is the summertime, and I've been using sunscreen everyday, I feel my skin is clean but little more greasy than normal.

Regarding the LRP Double Repair Toleriane moisturizer, there is a fairly recent gel version that The Budget Dermatologist has also recommended for oily, combo, acne-prone skin. It has niacinamide but no HA.

I have to wash twice a day. In the morning my face is too tacky to just wash with water. I just use a gentle non foaming cleanser in the morning. At night I double cleanse and I use a foaming cleanser. I remember Seabreeze. My sister and I used it all the time. I have oily skin and she had acne. I find that the LaRoche Melt in left a very notable cast on my tan arms

I am 65 and still have oily skin which hasn’t slowed down with age! Mine is hormonally responsive, so I take the supplement Mega Beta Sitosterol to inhibit the conversion. of testosterone into the acne and hair loss causing form (as well as prostate issues, if one is male), DHT. If I miss a dose or especially if I miss an entire day of it, my skin is so oily. It helped stop the androgenic alopecia I suffered from, as well, and is a safer option for me than spironolactone. I am not giving medical advice but just sharing what works for me. Please do your due diligence before starting this or any supplement.

In summer my skin is oily and my eyes very sensitive with chemical sunscreens so what I do is applying my fav aveeno mineral spf 50 around my eyes and applying La roche-posay spf 60 anti-shine on the rest of my face. I think this version is not available in the US but you can find it in Canada if you think about traveling there someday 😊 I wish I could share a picture of it here so you can find it easily. I'm glad to hear that I'm not weird when it comes using 2 different sunscreens on my face though lol. Thanks Audrea

I have oily skin, and it's dehydrated as well so I do see wrinkle even though I'm just in my early 20s. I cannot use only moisturizer, because it would greeseee the heck out me in the morning :)) I find Hyaluronic Acid pure from Timeless helps, it's like water and helps me with my skin temperature as well. So in a sense I do like toner or other watery like products that helps boost moisture in my skin, and then I use the moisturizer afterwards. On the day I when I dont put on the HA, my T zone is soaked in oil in the morning, it's terrible.

Im glad you mentioned Vanicream. Before finding your chanel I had been battling pretty bad acne for years. And after using Adapalene gel, benzoyl peroxide, Vanicream lite lotion and a sunscreen for a month or two the difference was dramatic. I was struggling so bad to find a moisturizer that didnt make my acne worse or irritated my sensitive skin and the Vanicream light lotion worked so well for that. After a year I started putting toners with niacinamide amd ceramides under it, and i love the routine even better that way. Im just extremely happy that i can get them in my nearby drugstore. Im aleays scared that they might discontinue it!
