I have an acne-prone skin and sensitive skin. I will share the things has worked for me in managing it. I reduced my consumption of sugar and cooked at my own house with nutritious foods. I also ate nuts, seeds, and fresh coconut to stay cool. I tried to relax and not worry too much. I used sunscreen and cleaned my face twice with litleeextra riceberyy face wash. I replaced my pillowcase every two days. I always tied up my hair and had a lot of water. I stopped contacting my face excessively. I stuck to my routine without skipping a day.

I use Cerave PM (in the morning and in the evening). My acne (somewhat mild and onseting in adulthood) did not get worse with this one. And, bc of the cerimides and niacinimide, my skin is better able to handle actives (I use SA toner, BP wash, adapoline, and BP spot treatment all in the same day every day).

Thank you for this video. I haven't used acne based products in over a year because I went on Accutane for 8 months. I had cystic acne and at 39, I had enough. I was acne free over a year and the past couple of months, I've had small breakouts. I've decided to at least look for products that help manage it. I discovered this channel and have learned so much on putting together a routine for AM and PM. Thank you both! Also, thanks for the education on Retinol, I've started using one for the first time!

Dr Shah it's wonderful that you talk openly about having body acne. When I was struggling with face and body acne in the 80s nobody talked about it. It was as if acne stopped at your chin, there was no information at all. Thank you for talking about it and giving people the knowledge to fight it

Why do all people assume, including dermatologists, acne prone skin is oily!?? I've been struggling with the dry sensitive acne prone skin for years and "doctors" still don't consider it while giving advice online. Quite disappointing 😮

Hypochlorus acid has been another phenomenal thing for acne I’ve discovered this year. I might even go as far to say….comparable to benzoyl peroxide. I use both in my routine and the hypochlorus acid helps greatly to minimize irritation! Happy new year!

Accutane via my dermatologist was the only option that effectively "cured" my face/body acne. I haven't had any spots in two years! Crazy how much money I've saved by not having to buy OTC products every month. I got the idea to see a dermatologist about whether or not I would be a candidate for accutane from this channel. So thank you thank you!

I'm so happy to see Cetaphil on the list! Beginning of 2023, I was looking to directly treat my acne affordably (that also supports dry skin) and no one was talking about the Cetaphil gentle clear line. I prefer generally Cetaphil over CeraVe so I just took the drive & I'm still using rhe same first bottles. They hold a lot of product, actually really cheap (if you get them at CVS with rewards points they're even cheaper), and overall really nice. Again happy to see th get attention, now i hope they don't sell off the shelves bc of it. 😅😂

Not specifically for acne prone skin but I've had a lot of success with it is the Neutragena SPF 50 face serum. It's lightweight and blends in well. It doesn't leave a white cast and it isn't greasy. Almost mattifying but not quite if that makes sense. I also don't get breakouts from it. I also find it moisturizing enough to not always need a face moisturizer.

Clindamycin topical solution works for my skin and I don't need oral antibiotics. It's a prescription. La Roche Posay products are great as are Cerave and Cetaphil. And Shiseido makes two nice cleansing products. I use the one for oily to blemish prone skin. And these two docs are great.

I use the La-Roche Posay 5% Benzoyl Peroxide cream. Love it. Although my acne is significantly lesser now after I crossed 30, I still do get it occasionally. This product is my fav by a mile. If you apply it as soon as you feel something comining up, you're gonna get the best results. For moisturitzer, I use the Elta MD. Its mild but you don't feel that heaviness on the skin.

Bacne tips in case it helps anyone else as well (I rarely get bacne now): 1. Washing back thoroughly with cleanser after shampoo and conditioner. I used to wash my back before my hair. Big mistake. Some of the ingredients in our hair products can cause breakouts. 2. If someone else in the household showers like demon with water hot enough to be straight from hell, don't leave your towel in the bathroom. Bacteria loves that kind of environment.

Micronized benzoyl peroxide really works. 2.5% BP was my favorite acne treatment for years but once I got rosacea My skin reacted very badly to it. I bought some of the Neutrogena Stubborn acne BP for my kids and tried a little. Like a miracle, no irritation, at least using it as a spot treatment for active breakouts.

I was told about a salicylic adic serum by Cétaphil and I have not tried it yet. I see you mentioned Differin and not this serum. For me, cheap sugar makes my skin break out; I have combo skin and I like the Cétaphil 30 spf lotion for during the day. If I get a break out I like the Dr. Hauschka Clarifying Oil at night.

I've been dealing with acne for 3 decades and love and use all the ingredients you mentioned on a daily / weekly basis. They make a difference! However, even after Accutane and going gluten-free, I never knew what it was like to be breakout free until I tried the ordinary copper peptides. I don’t know why that works, but if I try to take it out (because $30 can be a lot for 30ml), the acne flares back up every time. It's a pain because it doesn’t play well with other ingredients, but I can't live without it.

Happy almost New Year! I just wanted to know if either of you had any thoughts on Hypochlorous Acid sprays. I’ve lived with acne prone skin for many years and I stumbled across this in early 2023. After a double cleanse, I simply spray a light mist all over the face and pat in, then continue on with the rest of my routine. I have stopped all acne treatment ingredients and my skin is clearer than it ever was in the past. Any thoughts good or bad?

I ordered both the cetaphil products on this video one month ago. And they are working wonders for my skin. The cleanser is a little drying for me so I use it once every other day and as a spot treatment on any zits I do get. But since starting this my acne is very minimal! I only get 1 or 2 pimples during my period, when I would usually have 10 or more all the time not just during pms. And with using the cleanser as a spot treatment (I'll do a little dab on my zit and leave for maybe 10 mins. Doing this once a day) they go away very quickly, lasting 3 days max. My skin has improved immensely! Which has improved my confidence immensely. Also the moisturizer is amazing!! I love it and will never use anything else. It's very lightweight and mattifying. I used to need oil sheets to absorb all the oil on my face, using them multiple times an hour and now I don't need them at all. My skin isn't oily anymore. I am SO happy with these results I've gotten! I wish I started using it sooner honestly. Thank you for suggesting this! I'm so grateful

Seconding this. First two weeks of newborn wreaked havoc and I got breakouts like I've not had in decades since HS because routine for me went out the window... 10w later and I finally got things under control just from routine, but at 15w it's all gone back to hell as I've added beard care back in to the routine (I neglected that entirely until just a couple weeks ago). Not sure if it's the beard wash, bear oil, or beard balm that causes the breakout I don't use all 3 daily so would love to learn more on this topic.

Hey guys, news circulating around about dangers of benzoyl peroxide based products as it can break down into benzene, a carcinogenic substance. Could you please look into the matter and give us your opinion? Should we all throw away our products?

I’ve been using the Differin face wash for over 2 years and I even gifted one of my extra bottles to my teen niece because I truly believe in it! It changed my skin after just a few days of consistent use. I rarely get breakouts now and my skin texture looks so much better and healthier

How is it working with your teen? It didn't work on mine. Neither did RetinA.

Differin gel burns my daughters skin. She uses the tiniest amount too! Like just a little skid marks worth 😅, and she puts on lotion first, then the differin gel but always wakes up the next morning with a tomato face. The skin under her eyes turns leathery. 😞

I've noticed you've mentioned the Cera ve SA Renewing cleanser quite a few times, and for me, it just hasn't worked. I use it morning and night along with the adapalene La Roche Posay gel and still wake up with whiteheads almost daily. The BP has definitely worked better for me. Does it matter how dark a person?

Can you do a video on essences? I recently got a sample of SK-II essence and it was about a 2 week supply.. but I don’t know if it is necessary or not. And then it’s pretty expensive for a bottle.. so is it worth it?

Watching this from Madagascar and i can't find any adapalene, so is retinol still a good alternative or is it better to go for a salicylic acid cleanser or leave on if i had to choose only one?

Can you please please please do a video about acne supplements like the MINDBODYSKIN supplement? These products have been blowing up my feed and I'm seriously considering it but not sure if it's worth it if I'm already using all the foundational products (benzoyl Peroxide, differin, azelaic acid)

I’ve been using the FAB Ultra Repair Cream for about 4 years now and it truly helped me through my tret purge. I was still getting breakout so I got an allergy test done found out I’m mildly allergic to oats and Ultra Repair cream has colloidal oatmeal. Would that cause a reaction and possible breakouts or can I keep using it?

Hi Doc, i’ve read that Vitamin C interferes with melanin production. Does this also apply to the one contained in the beard follicles for example, making it turn white sooner? And what about retinol? It does the same? I already have some whites and i’m worried. Thank you!
