    Technically yes, but the dribble is still integral to the move being more effective. The dribble hesitation is what throws the defender off. The footwork would only allow you get a step ahead, but not like you would be able to without the dribble

    This also works with ripping the ball through off the catch. Rip through real fast off the catch, act like you're about to wait on a screen or something for a split second and explode. Melo did this allot, so did D Rose and even LeBron. The change of pace is suppose to allow you to angle your body to explode off that rear leg and really utilize the stretch reflex.

    Is the counter move to the slow between the legs already planned before hand that you are going to do it or is it more an anticipation to how the defender reacts to the slow between the legs?

  • @CoachFrikki

    @CoachFrikki

    2 жыл бұрын

    Great question. I'd look at it as a spectrum, not binary. At some point you choose that you're gonna counter with a cross. Sometimes it happens early, sometimes late. Sometimes it happens 10 seconds before. And sometimes it happens a split second before and it's a reaction When I do it I most often plan it before my BTL dribble and that way I can sell my BTL better so he'll react to it. Pretty sure that's how Harden does it. Sets it up so well and shifts the defender.
