    TIP if your opponent is running fast side by side, slow down because he's probably going to immediately stop and absolutely destroy your ankles beyond recognition. Also, try to develop a 3rd eye while guarding because it can and WILL make you a great defender.

    "Used mainly when driving strongside" -- is that because it's the overloaded side so you're going to run into traffic and it makes sense to get yourself some space for an easy jumper instead? Or does that mean with your dominant hand? (since they then mention weak hand)

  • @CoachFrikki

    @CoachFrikki

    2 жыл бұрын

    The under the legs snatch just makes more sense when driving strongside because of how your body turns. It's easier to do and easier to shoot out of when going to your strong side.

    when you shoot your shooting hand is in front of your body right? but imagine your driving down your weakside, that means your shooting hand is facing towards the hoop no? And so when you cross into your stronghand, it'll be in the back of your body, which makes it awkward to shoot, so you'd have to get an extra dribble in to change your stance, while driving on your strong side, after you crossover you only need to step back and shoot or jumper

    Pushing off is not a foul if the off arm that you're pushing with is close to your body and you're close to your defender, meaning that you won't have enough room to extend that off arm. A push off should be more of a bump than an a shove. If you extend that off arm on your push off it will be an offensive foul because it will be like a stiff arm from running back in football.

    If you're creating contact you aren't necessarily breaking their ankles your just bodying them smh. Every single example you've shown the defender falls the moment they get pushed, shoulder checked or whatever. They aren't falling because of the cross over, so is it really an ankle breaker? An ankle breaker is when you make someone fall without contact.

  • @CoachFrikki

    @CoachFrikki

    2 жыл бұрын

    A lot of the clips had no contact. A lot had minimal contact. If the push off is smooth I'd call it an ankle breaker. The move + change of direction does 80% of the work, the contact helps with the last 20% to make it even more effective. Basketball is a contact sport. Both the offense and defense can initiate contact in certain situations. Nothing wrong with that. But I respect your opinion.

    Defense can chest bump, handcheck a bit and put a forearm on your back in the post. Offense can swipe w/ their off arm, bump when driving and push a bit off. Basketball is a physical game. Don't see how the push off is any different than other ways players use contact.
