Clearly you’ve never had my body or one like it. If you think people who go low/no carb so because we “want” to, I would say you’re wrong, we do it because we “need” to (in order not to feel miserable every day of our lives). At least that’s my story. Trust me I’ve tried to “make friends” with food. I’m friendly…food is not friendly to me (not the carb kind anyway). Let’s try to stay patient and compassionate for different things that work for different people. ❤️

Yes! Same. I like dinner I can drink coffee with some milk maybe a little yogurt and a half a banana or some other fruit and go all day. I generally and have dinner around 4:30 beginning to cook my own at 4:00. I've done this for 40 years.. I think that's more natural than sticking with the nine to five meal plan work-a-day. I do have the luxury of having a home-based business and can make my own hours. Sundays are are a little different where I take a long time to process and freeze items for quick meal prep during the week while sipping wine and having the meal I'm prepping for my dinner like a pasta dish for a nice cut of meat with a beautiful salad or baked potato with a side of sauteed apples and cabbage you get the drift. I do not have to deprive myself. If I need to lose a few pounds I go on a salad diet meaning salad with all the beans and blue cheese and shredded chicken hard cooked eggs arugula baby spinach Romaine grated beet grated carrot walnuts sunflower seeds olive oil and a little bit of red wine vinegar and I will graze on that all day a few bites at a time and I can lose a pound a week. No problem. Sometimes I switch it up with an omelette. Basically low fat/low carb. Atkins but I do eat potatoes during this phase and I have no problem just no bread no white nothing. The only bread product I eat when I'm not doing the Atkins type is sprouted or sourdough. If I'm at the wait I want to be I'll have a 1/2 a sandwich for dinner often. Good luck. NO PROCESSED FOOD EVER.

Except specific situations where it is medically necessary, a low to no carb diet will, inevitably, lead to a relapse and further weight gain. We are not meant to rid ourselves of a vital macronutrient. Any athlete will tell you the body operates better carbed up. It isn't worth the pain and health problems, friend. Eat those healthy carbs!

  • @Oblisk

@@WhydoIsuddenlyhaveahandle”inevitably” is the wrong word choice. If that was so, there wouldn’t be people who have lost weight and have kept it off while on the carnivore diet. The only reason people relapse is because carb addiction is a real thing. Some people aren’t just quite ready to give up all the delicious carbs. You go through actual withdrawals when you cut them out. Especially if you eat lot of high glycemic carbs and sugar.

Interesting. I have the exact opposite reaction to starchy carbohydrate foods. When I include grains, especially wheat, in my diet, I wake up hungry and end up eating in the middle of the night without fully waking up. When I eliminate starchy carbs through diet and fasting, I sleep through the night every night. It's incredible. The older I get, the more I realize that there is no one thing that works for every body.

I can't do keto. In fact a few people get high LDL from your diet. Paleo works for me. But no pizza at dinner lactose and wheat are intolerances.

There’s probably some underlying problem with your metabolism. Eating carbs is a very normal thing for humans to do if you’re reacting to any carb poorly you probably just aren’t very metabolically healthy

What kind of carbs? I get a blood sugar drop after eating starchy carbs, but if I combine them with some non-starchy carbs I am a lot better. So I enjoy combining non-starchy root vegetables with the starchier roots and tubers so I'll mix rutabaga, jicama or turnips with potatoes (regular or sweet) and it blunts the blood sugar response.

So when on keto would you suggest a low or therapeutic dose of an SSRI? Wouldn’t this also mean that keto would cause depression tho? When in fact being ketogenic subdues your overall mood or stabilizes it like lithium. I thought the poor sleep was die to heightened cortisol, never heard of it being serotonin. I wonder what Jordan Peterson does about his sleep but then I read that he barely does. So what about his daughter? She doesn’t look sleep deprived to me. I know they need to be on that diet but they don’t need to withhold from us a lack of sleep. I don’t think JP’s been bought by the meat industry or big meat like some might call it but who knows. He’s more the kind of guy to beat big meat if anything.
