Its on purpose. Coz water hits differently if you drink 2 times 1 liter vs drinking a small cup a few times a day. If you drink too much at once - you will just pee it out in 30 min and be dehydrated for the rest of the day. Generally you need a bit more in the morning to flush the system, and after that you need to drink water when your body does stuff like digestion or exercise.

@@JEEtard977 It depends on how dry your meal is. Water before meal just fills up your stomach and it needs time to move further so you have space for food, water after meal - can help digestion by making the food more soup like and the gastric juices and the food juices to mix well together. But again - water fills up the stomach so 500 ml after a 500 grams meals is not a good idea but 100/200 ml is probably fine.

And if the goal is good hydration then make sure you add salt!! I put a minimum of 1/4 tsp of Himalayan Salt or Celtic Sea Salt per 32 ounces. If I’m doing a massive cardio workout I’ll go for 1 tsp of salt (avoid table salt) in 32 ounces (1000ml) and I’ll drink all of that within 60 mins starting roughly 90mins before workout Most vital elements for human life 1) Air 2) Water 3) Sodium (Salt) 4) Potassium etc… If you care about your health start adding salt to your water (sprinkling on food doesn’t count, that’s extra) If you are like me and enjoy bullet keto coffee. Try some salt. I worked up to 1/4 tsp per 16ounces (Yeti) and it is the most delicious thing in my life after cutting out bad foods. I hate coffee and water that doesn’t have salt in it now

I think a lot of people drink too much and that can be dangerous. If you're worried, just check the toilet bowl. If your urine is clear, you're drinking too much. If it's dark yellow, you're not drinking enough. Your urine should be light yellow, like lemonade.

Would it make sense to link hydration requirements to calories burned? For example, my husband and I both work out but he weighs twice as much as I do. Would he require twice as much fluid throughout the day as I do?

Disagree when it comes to eating. Stomach acid is crucial to digestion. Water should not be consumed at least a half hour before and after eating.

Andrew, I'm telling you the horrific truth to find out how much water you need per day. You don't have to graduate from Harvard University to know how much water you should drink. You need to drink water when you are thirsty that's it.

Not entirely true, when you get older your thirst reaction gets worse. The older you get the less water people tend to drink and this contributes greatly to many ailments of old age
