The beard is the glue that keeps the family together!

When I was about 6 years old, my dad surprised me and my sister by picking us up at school after shaving the mustache he'd had our whole lives. We were adamant that this strange man was absolutely not our father and flat refused to leave with him. Our mom had to come pick us up, and we wouldn't have anything to do with our dad until his mustache grew back. He never shaved again. ETA: My dad passed away 3 days after I posted this comment. He gave me a card the last time I saw him. In it were some hairs from where he'd recently trimmed his mustache. It might be silly to cry over a few hairs, but I sobbed into that card that day. I miss him so much.

You have my condolences. Dads are awesome. I love my dad. Is not my blood father but as if. He also had a huge moustache my entired life but when his hair went white he shaved it, was a shock for all.

I just realized something at 4:30. Mom is excited because she gets her baby back, all the baby's are distraught because they lose their fathers.

I love the look on the babies’ faces. It’s like all the gears are turning and they’re thinking “I know dis guy but who da heck is he?”

When my nephew was a little guy he walked in to wake my wife and I on Christmas Day. We knew he was coming so we kind of played asleep for him, but he dashed away from us in tears - he had never seen me without my glasses!

I wear glasses, too, and used to babysit my littlest nephew on occasion so that my bro and SIL (who wears contacts, is about the same height as me and had the same hair color as me at the time) could go on weekend getaways. The first time I stayed in their bedroom overnight instead of the living room, my 2-y.o. nephew came crawling into bed with me when he woke up in the morning, all snuggles and cuddles and wake-up baby talk, but he kept calling me Mama😲 And I kept saying, “I’m not your mama, though, I’m your Aunt Hope,” and he still insisted on calling me Mama😄 Finally I decided we may as well get up even though it was still early, and I reached for my glasses and put them on: he got this stunned look on his face and then he was like, “Hi, Aunt Hope...” I really think he was wondering where his mama went and how I got there so fast 😂

I'm a nana with no beard to shave but my baby grand daughter cries everytime I take my glasses off... its hilarious

I've heard that before. I have to mention that years ago I was talking to a guy who ran a restaurant. He wore the kind of stupid and distracting moustache that a pornographic actor would have, yet I didn't say anything. I was relieved when I saw him clean shaven.
