I own 2 of these, 1 used to travel with me and the other stayed in my box in the office at work. I think there's always some compromise when going smaller but this was a terrific balance in my opinion. It can fit in a watch pocket in my pants and was super easy to carry around. No, it won't play much beyond early PS1 since you'll need more buttons but you'll always be able to have it with you. I actually also own a Steelseries Free, another micro controller with analog sticks, and I always end up taking this over the Free. Both are good options but this benefits from being smaller, cheaper, and available. Great video as always.

Nice review! I really like how you go over real life use cases in your reviews. I was always curious about this controller. I'm not sure I'd use it though because I use my miyoo mini and soon my rg280v for emulating ps1 and under, and I emulate 3ds, ps2, gamecube, etc. on my smartphone so I'd need more buttons.

Thank you. I try to use a bit of common sense in my reviews and not get so clinical as to lose sight of the use case for each device.

At first when I saw this I concluded that it was a toy just for kids, but your video has opened my eyes to other options. This could be ideal for on the go gaming to turn my phone into a low end emulator using Launchpad and RetroArch. It would literally be the most lightweight option that I can think of. Very cool. Cheers! 👍

I've always wondered how this compares to the first version. I have one of those, and it's nifty but also not the best, and it's not just the size but the dpad is mushy and the buttons have too much travel for such a small device with literally no hand leverage to work with. L and R felt too hard to press again due to no leverage. I wonder if they addressed any of this with this newer one. Mine is literally stuck to my wall with sticky tak as a decoration 😂

Hey man I can’t say for sure but to me the dpad and face buttons were near flawless. The L and R buttons do have a bit of resistance and I wouldn’t consider using them with a game that needed to use them often. I gotta say, for what it is I can’t see it being any better than it already is, unless they could add 2.4ghz capability.

how does this controller work for delta emulator app on ios??

I've been very tempted to buy this for months. My use-case would be at work, to be frank. I wouldn't be using it for any extended periods of time, just 5-10 minutes on breaks playing retro roms on my phone, so I think the size would be a fine compromise. I am concerned that the clicky buttons could be distracting for anyone within ear-shot, however.

Hey there. Yes the shoulder buttons are quite clicky but the dpad and action buttons aren’t really clicky

@@adinwalls I settled on the SN30 Pro (crystal purple). It was quite a jump in price, but it seems to be compatible with more systems (PC, etc), and I think it will be more comfortable to use. Should be delivered in the next couple of days. Thanks again!

Is the D-pad on these things really that good? I don't mean 8bitdo in general, I've got am SFC30 that's been going flawless for years and an Sn30 Pro. They make good stuff. But the Zero just look like it would break if I look at wrong.

It’s pretty good. I’d say it’s on par in quality with Anbernic Dpads, but just quite small

I have a flip 5 and play pokemon (emulated) on the front screen. I prefer to play with my hand for accessibility reasons and this is a great little one handed controller which improves my GB, GBA, and SNES jrpg'ing, if nothing else

Ive been on the fence about this for a while. I may cave in only because i tend to use an EDC bag now and having the controller with me wouldn't take much room.

Yes that’s a great idea. It’s an excellent minimalist option. I’m still aiming at an 8BitDo Pro 2 or maybe their new Ultimate controller for testing more complex games, but this tiny device will most likely feature on my channel a lot to test Bluetooth connectivity to handheld devices.

@@adinwalls I have two 8bitDo Pro 2 controllers and they're excellent. Bluetooth on pc is bad but that's a windows problem. I play it wired on pc. I have 0 issues on the switch and android devices.
