After using my Wave everyday for 25 years as a aircraft mechanic, I'm sad to say she died today, thankfully Leatherman is replacing it with a brand new Wave under warranty. 🙂🇦🇺

Must be civilian sector cause when I worked on F18s for 13 years, we sure weren't allowed to have tools on the flight line that weren't accounted for in the shop box

I use this tool everyday at work. I use this every weekend either fishing or hiking. Steady going for years and years.I love this tool

Thw Wave+ is a great tool for sure, lao not mentioned is the concealed lanyard loop. I made a leather pouch for mine but the loop and belt clip are excellent additions :)

the weight and everything that i prefer is in it and i dont have to carry around extra bits.

I know the Leatherman name is a bit appealing to say you own (as it is like the king of multitool brands as far as name goes) but would a person be in just as good hands with a clone of the Wave Plus?

that depends on several factors. there are several things to consider aside from moral implications, 1. how is the steel made and tempered etc? 2. is the engineering plausible and practical? 3. what are your needs and and environment of operations? 4. how much will it cost you?

@@TheFossilChannel I recently bought a Flissa 16 in 1. It seems pretty cool so far but have not had to do anything major with it yet. It is $30. 1/4 the cost of a Wave Plus.

The Wave (Plus) is nowhere near a good multitool. Here's why. The Wave (Plus) has practically unusable medium size flat screwdriver and fake Phillips screwdriver, since their adaptor is too wide and too short. The Rebar, on the other hand, has the real 3D Phillips screwdriver and good flathead screwdrivers. The Wave's scissors only take space - generally, scissors rather belong in a manicure than in a multitool because they can easily be substituted by the knife or pincers in most cases. The ruler is almost illegible on the Wave, whereas on the Rebar it's perfect. The pliers'jaws are wider and better to use in the Rebar, while the needle nose crap in the Wave is unstable and too narrow. In general, the Rebar is much steadier and more efficient. I also highly appreciate the Rebar's awl, which is completely missing in the Wave. The Wave is more fashionable than usable.

the rebar is an excellent tool and ive had one for years. very reliable and robust tools on it. i usually pair it up with a small 58mm victorinox tool for the scissors

@@TheSimplecanadian I don't think an outside deployable knife is necessary. It's a tiny little detail. A pocket clip can be added, just like to the Wave. Remember the Wave has no pocket clip either, unless you add it. But what really matters is that the Wave has no lanyard, whereas the Rebar does. And the Rebar is small and light enough to be carried on keys, which is what I do all the time. In short, the Rebar wins again.

@@vladimirvladimirovic8989 ya an outside knife is not necessary but it's very satisfying and convenient. I am set on the rebar myself after doing a lot of research. I think I will add a stick on pocket clip when I get it. Currently I have the Skelatool RX and my brother just gave me a sidekick. Both are nice in their own ways but are lacking a lot. I agree about the wave plus.
