TheFossilChannel -"TFC" for short.
Hello and welcome. I enjoy giving my thoughts and reviews on outdoor gear, radios, flashlights, electronics and sound location recording gear. I enjoy technology and combining that with outdoors experiences along with auto and finance.

Mine says its green and charged when i plug in the magnet charger, but i was out using it quite a bit last night, so i had to pull the battery and use the xtar vc4, weird because i was loving the magnetic charger but it can't tell it needs to be topped off what the hell. Loosened it 1/4 turn too, and tried both wahs, blinking red on left or green. I just put it in the xtar and its put 327 mah into the battery already, hopefully i get it sorted because don't like having to pull the battery paranoid about threads lol albiet square cut. That is smart of them the 1/4 turn safety charge feature, i really like that
Good morning everyone, a question: when navigating on a loaded GPX track, is it possible to "lock the map" to follow the direction to follow? , every time we stop , the map continues to rotate slightly, perhaps to update our position.. and it's not very clear where you need to go, where the route to follow is. Thank you
What i do is have north always facing up option for maps. This way the map doesnt rotate.
@@TheFossilChannel My friend thank you , you have really help me !! many many thanks .
Does this have more power than the surefire aviator?
I havent looked at the spec on surefire norbhave i tested it so i cannot say
Very informative. Nice, detailed and straightforward. I thought I was listening to a podcast.
Thank you sir ! Hope it helped out
I actually wish I got this model, I got the 4500k I should be happy but damn I really do think I favor warmer than neutral warmish
What fossils have you discovered?
Brachipods, trilobytes, coral, bryzoans , most devonian aged fossils
@@TheFossilChannel wow! Do you know of a modern animal that looks like a trilobite? I saw some crawling around a red rock cliff in Southern California when doing the usual tourist stuff. I think it was at Sunset Cliffs. I tried looking it up with no avail.
Your FA kit needs work. Put the CAT on the outside, it could save your life. Get rid of the non FA stuff.
Thanks for the advice. I wil be getting a 2nd tq and placing on the outside. This is just a general work bag i carry these kits to and from work with. Thanks
lol - "that concludes the lighting section" - maybe you need to add a 7th??
Nah need a 12th and 13th imo
Hey, John. I'm Andrii. We meet at the Ninham mt. fire tower. It was cool to talk to you about radio and flashlights. We can meet some day when I'll be around here. Good luck with your hobbies!
Hey andrii good to meet you lets keep in touch. Fun talking and meeting another flashlight enthusiast.
nice video. i was confused about the different pouches so this is very helpful.
Thanks glad it helped!
Interesting video. I have had my knife for 42 years. Its a good and useful tool. My knife does not have the hook on the back .😊
You have a rare older model. This one is a modern model from the late 90s i believe up to today
Is there a way of changing out the blubs for a better one
Not that i know of
What's the value of the original Leatherman
Im not sure depends on which years you get.
I love the watch and have it myself but the kill switch is nothing but a gimmick. If you wanted yopu could easily desolder the the NAND and dumb the binary data from it, and even un-delete data from it the same way cellbrite works with mobile phones in law enforcement. The data is not even encrypted!
Yes its a gimmick. I think at that point in order to stop an enemy from repurposing the tech id destroy it physically too.
Great tool the Swiss Champ
Really great stuff! My grandfather in law was a hardcore ham guy before his health declined. Been meaning to get my license for ages and may just do that one of these days. CB is something I don't know why I don't already have.
Head on over to local ham radio club and they will help you out.
Good video! What is the watch face?
Found 😂 Tswf05
Tswf04 check the link in description
Ive used the supertool for 10 years. I may be one of the first to buy one. Use it daily. Im a mason. Its done everything. It made me more useful as a worker.
Been out for 10 years
Epic
good video...i still use my Fenix 7 but have switched to my Apple Watch Ultra 2 for a daily driver. Just wanted something different. I agree with you, the solar is NOT needed. Even when you are in the sun doesnt charge it. Just put the stupid thing in battery saver mode if you are going out for an extended time.
good hearing your voice too...its been a while mate
Thank you chris its been awhile brother.
What can you say about VX-2R in comparison to 3R? Sensitivity, features etc. I'm thinking of buying 2r or 3r. And its so strange to know the charging issues with 3r. Never heard of them.
kzread.info/dash/bejne/onWB06yekbWzl7Q.htmlsi=vQZrZYBdC9ie_e4P this is a review of all 3 i did recently and should help explain some of the differences As far as recrption its about the same for vhf snd uhf. Am is different as the 3r has an internal bar antenna
@@TheFossilChannel Thanks.
TNX, 73! de HA5XA (WW1WWW)
I had the same collection, except the VX 7. Now I still have the FT 1. I miss the VX 1 by walking with the dogs.
A super tool and a micra are all you need! Good video 😊
I have a PST and Sideclip. I thought the pulse has a great tool set. I want a flair just cause it’s unique.
Wow! Never knew about this model. Thanks for the video! I do have a couple of Wengers. I just learned that the curved/recessed area of the claw can opener serves as an excelleent 1/4" hex wrench. You can turn your knife into a torque screwdriver with a 1/4" bit extender placed in that can opener hole.
Band way of life .... masses need high morals
never go adventure w/out one . swiss champ , explorer, huntsman , climber my favorite SAK
now do a review of the workchamp XL (I say the XL model because the workchamp tools are already filled by your Swiss tool)
Have to save up to get one
If a guy goes to Home Depot over to the hand tools, on the bottom shelf there’s some cheap needle nose made by Stanley. The interesting thing about them is they are Multitool style, needle nose, regular, wire cutter combo. A pair of those with a Swiss champ and a guy is pretty set up
I don’t know man, I’d never sacrifice the toothpick. I use it all the time for my teeth, also works good for gently cleaner electronic ports
The tooth pick is a great tool and yes to the electronics. Im outside more than inside and i usually have a electronics kit for when i work on electronics.
awesome video. Love my micro VX HTs
Amen!
Bro got enough lights in his bag for a pandemic. lol. Great review!
Thanks appreciated 👍
Great looking tools. I love Leatherman. The best
Great video!!
Thanks rich! I forgot to tag you in description.
@@TheFossilChannel You’re welcome & no worries !
Do you know where I can buy the housing?
Sorry i do not know. Ebay a use one maybe and take it apart?
@@TheFossilChannel Thanks for the reply. I sent it to Victorinox and they fixed everything for 15 bucks. Including new housing and shipping.
Love your reviews. Lets get up and review the drone.
3-D in-line screwdriver 🙄😂 U mean a Phillips head screwdriver
It would be great if the light module could be removed. I think I saw a video where someone did that. EDIT: here it is kzread.info/dash/bejne/aKl6ubmtgJmuhdI.html. In my opinion, the mag glass and the lite should be removable.
Huzzah! Excellent recital of the poem and nice camerawork!
Looking at the video footage, it looks like the light can be turned on when it is swiveled up. In other words, pointing down instead of out. Is this right?
You can but part of the beam is blocked
Bravo Vinny!!! 😮❤
Cool stuff but way too much redundancy imo
Sometimes yes! Been experimenting with it.
Great video, I have all three of these radios. Love them. I'm a micro radio nerd. I have bought all off of ebay. I even have the AA adapter for the Vx-1r. 2 years ago at a local ham convention a guy walking through had the Vx-1r on a lanyard. The second I saw it I wanted one. Took a few to figure out exactly what it was but once I did I was hooked. Anyways great video I'll have to check some of the others out, 73 K0MYK
Thanks om! 73 de kc2bnw
cheers Peter!
Awesome!
