Been running one in 2wd 8.5t and has been great so far. You can program it with the old ezrun led programming box although it’s easy enough with the button. The punch control is just a delay as far as I can tell and make the car hard to drive so leave it on max.

so i plan on building my second Traxxas bandit pretty soon, im looking at my ESC and motor options cause i wanna run brushless with a 3s lipo. what motor would you recommend to go along with the quicrun ESC? looking for quick acceleration and a medium top speed (50 to 70)

I've had the best luck with Hobbywing ESCs, from Juststock 60a for my 13.5T clay buggy to 300a 5th scale setups for my sand bashers, and also 6S 75 mph RC boats. Plus they almost all use the same program box. I have that ESC in your video on my Associated 4x4 clay race buggy with a 8.5T motor, hasn't missed a beat and barely gets above room temperature after a long session.

I think this is a brilliant esc. It costs a fraction of a price of most competition esc and still does 80% what the more expensive ones do. throttle response is really good, steering is great and it is really controlable which is what you want for comp. racing. it has enough programming settings and it is not too heavy. the only downside it has is that it can´t be programmed for a 7.4 volt bec output, which makes the steering a little less precise, but you can definetley get used too that, that is not a big difference.

I'd like to know also.... I just got its "little brother", the 10BL60. I was told by four different people that it will be fine for my Wraith, with a TenShock 1750kv 6 Pole, 9 Slot Sensorless Brushless Motor. I've been in the Hobby since 1985 (I'm OLD!). However, this is my FIRST Brushless System, EVER!! 😱😱 I got the Programming Card also - and be AWARE here! The Programming Card comes with 3 different Charts, telling which number corresponds to which ESC function..... *NONE OF THEM are Right for the 10BL60!!!* The instructions for the ESC state which is which - NOT the Programming Card!! So KEEP those ESC Instructions. 😉 I have no idea if it's the same for the 10BL120.... If after you plug it into the ESC, and scroll through the functions - and you ONLY have nine - the charts on the Card WON'T work! Use the programming chart on the ESC Instructions. Now, if anybody with Experience can help me...... Is the 60 Amp ESC going to be adequate for my Wraith, used as a Trail Rig with some Crawling, only momentary bursts of speed - with the 1750kv Motor?? I'll add, because I am old school, just getting back into the Hobby after an 18 year Hiatus - I STILL run NiMhs!! 😱 7.2 or 8.4 volts only..... That's as much info as I can think of. Will 60A be good? Thanks! Carmine 🚂

wow I too started rc cars back in the mid 80’s and also just got back into rc cars again after quitting for 18 or so years, spooky coincidence, you don’t hear any twilight zone music playing do you? ok me either so were cool. Only been back into cars for 8 months or so but actually started flying drones a couple years ago which was fun up until the government started trying to crawl up everybody’s ass over flying, so I went back to cars..phuck the FAA I think I read somewhere that the quicrun 60a & 120a use the same programming card, maybe you got the programming card for the ezrun esc’s A 6 pole 1750kv motor what does that run like, bet it makes a lot of torque, I wouldn’t think that a 1750kv motor would have any problem running with a 60a esc, supposedly the lower the kv the lower amperage esc you need but who know for sure. That ‘s one thing really different about rc’s this time, trying to get useful comparable motor data is like trying to get a straight answer out of your ex-wife, and no one seems to want to or know how to make a cross over comparison between sensored and sensorless motors. Let me know what you find out I’m curious to know because it would be cheaper then running higher kv motors which require bigger esc’s

That's a cool similarity!! 😱😱 I left the Hobby, because of craziness and drama. I was a Semi-Pro Driver for OFNA, in 1/8th Scale Nitro Buggies. Semi-Pro meant that Sponsors didn't completely Bankroll me. I only got some assistance, and free parts.... The pettiness of the other Drivers, Marshalls and Teams, was staggering!!! It became like being back in Kindergarten! 😭😭😬 It wasn't fun anymore, and it was a period when Rigs and Parts became OBSOLETE, SO quickly, that it was Expensive just to keep up. So... I walked away. The 1750kv TenShock Sensorless Brushless Motor is an absolute JEWEL!!!! (For what it was made for) 6 Pole 9 Slot Motor is really a First in the Hobby. Let me tell you, starting from stopped and Crawling.... This is nearly as Smooth as any good 27-45 Turn BRUSHED Motor! *With* longer runtimes, NO COGGING, cooler, more efficient, MUCH Faster, and at LEAST TWICE as much Torque!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍😎 They are a smaller Company, with an amazing Product. They also make them in 1250kv and 2400kv. They're all 540 sized, with standard 1/8" Pinion Shaft. (The 2400kv isn't AS Smooth as the others, but has more reserve Wheelspeed) Here's where I'm at so far......... The Hobbywing WP10BL60 ESC hasn't even gotten WARM yet!! (I'm using Test Equipment) The Programming Card works well. To use it on THESE ESCs, disregard all of the Card Charts, and use the Chart in the Manual for the ESC itself. The Amp Draw, with my Motor in my 8 pound Wraith, is not even CLOSE to 60 Amps! Neither Burst Power or Stall Power are NEAR the Hobbywing's 240 Amp Burst Limit, at roughly 147 Amps peak. That leaves room for higher peaks, in different situations!! This 60 Amp ESC is MORE than adequate for the TenShock Crawler Motors at least! 👍👍😉 You're absolutely right!! Getting GOOD, comparable stats on Brushless Motors and ESCs is downright IMPOSSIBLE!!! If my tests keep going as well as they have been, I may have to come out of "Video Retirement", and try to make a Video with some actual USEFUL information! 😱 We'll see.... Carmine 🚂

.... I did find out that your Rig's WEIGHT almost has more to do with ESC selection than Motor Rating! Although they are combined.... The higher Weight your Rig is, the lower the KV limit. If you want high KV, THAT'S when you want a higher Amp ESC. Brushless setup information is next to NIL!! It's going to be up to us.....

i guess you could say i was semi semi pro back then, i was sponsored by a hobby shop and was running Kyosho 1/10 scale, I got most my parts free, entry fees and lunch on race days if the owners wife felt like packing us one. I had to stop because i broke my back and some other body parts at work and went through a boat load of surgeries, i still can only stand long enough to make it through 1 battery pack then i have to get off my back for a while sounds like you've got a better handle on the brushless thing then most of the self proclaimed experts so i'll bounce a question off you that i can't get an answer to. if low kv motors are for torque and high kv for speed, why are some of the guys doing 150+ mph speed runs running 7000+kv motors while others are running 2000+kv motors and the same goes for off-road vehicles, you see one guy's off road truck running a 2100kv motor while another is running a 5700 kv well i got to hobble off to run some errands talk to you later, Brad

Run a 13.5 on 2s. It will last forever and run very well. I recommend reedy or Maclean. It’s expensive but they put a lot of work into there motors. For a battery I would run a reedy 2s shorty battery. They are high quality. Cheep batteries will crap out.

Hey Razor. I'm trying to upgrade on a budget my arrma Typhon to brushless from brushed. I have a 3660 surpass hobby motor that is 2650 kv. Would this ESC work in this setup? My biggest fear is ESC catching on fire and ruining the whole car. I mostly just bash this car and take it to the track to play with my kids occasionally.

Yes. Those cheap (key word) TSKY "blue" 120A ESCs that you find all over the interwebs does look like the Hobbywing. The TSKY is a wannabe ESC, but does not measure up with durability and specs of a Quicrun 10BL120. I've toasted, roasted, and fried numerous of the super low budget TSKY speed controls.

☆Edit: Changed my vote to the 10bl120!☆ I love my Quicrun 10bl120 but I would have to vote for the Hobbyking X-Car 120a ESC as the best BUDGET 120 amp ESC. Verion 2.1 is a different model than the Quicrun 10bl120, the Quicrun is not a newer model of the XeRun V.2.1 but in fact is it's own model all together, but based on the XeRun V.2.0 PCB. The XeRun V.2.1 does have 8 steps Timing control. The V.2.1 is a XeRun, not a Quicrun. The Xerun 120 (model#: 81020170) is very different. It has USB/PC upgradable firmware support. The Xerun V.2.1 has much better components like MOSFETS from IRTM in the U.S. and also uses UltraLow Resistance Capacitors from RubyonTM in Japan. These better components give the XeRun 120a ESC a burst current of 960 amps (the Quickrun 10bl120 has only a 760 amp burst) XeRun 120a ESC has a Resistance of: 0.0003 ohms; it can support much lower turn motors: on 3s it supports 5.5t:on-road/ 8.5t off-road (the Quicrun supports 8.5t/10.5t on 3s). That said the Quickrun is a fantastic Budget ESC! Having its PCB roots born from the well proven Xerun series and made by only Shenzhen workers that have proven themselves worthy to work the Hobbywing line! The XeRun 120a ESC is still manufactured, though hard to find in stock. It's available in blue or black from the Shenzhen Technology Co., Ltd's plant. The plant is absolutely MASSIVE, I've been there twice. Shenzhen Technology Co., Ltd. makes Hobbywing products under the name "Shenzhen Hobbywing Technology Co., Ltd". Shenzhen Technology Co., Ltd manufacturers many of the brands we are familiar with like Surpass Hobby, Hobbyking & Rocket. My vote for the best budget 120 amp ESC would be the HobbyKing X-Car 120a ESC. The X-Car IS a XeRun V.2.0 having identical components. The manual available for tge X-Car on Hobbyking's website IS the XeRun 120a V.2.0 ESC manual. You can flash the X-Car 120's firmware with Hobbywing firmware unlocking Turbo & Boost which the Quicrun does not have. Although the Xerun V.2.0 & X-Car 120 have 15% lower power output than the V.2.1, they still have more power output than the Quicrun and support the same motors as the XeRun V.2.1. And finally the X-Car costs $27.99, nearly half the Quicrun's price.

Awesome information! I actually used the X-Car 120A in my Slash Race Upgrade series, but it died on about the 5th pack, so I never bought another. The QuicRun 10BL120 has been very solid for a few years now, so I still recommend that one.

You know i haven't had any issues with the Xcar ....yet 😂! I have a second one NIB as a backup. I did the HobbyWing firmware update on my X-Car 120 and was wondering if yours had the same? It unlocked Boost & Turbo and it ran cooler and the brakes/reverse were so much better after the firmware swap. My 10bl120 is currently paired with an '8.5t SkyRC Ares III Pro' in a R35 bodied TA-04 and its been quite a workhorse ESC! I have to agree with you, im converted! When you combine the FOR CERTAIN Hobbywing quality with its support and features, size, power and price you can't beat it! I am currently looking for another budget ESC and require sensored, sensorLESS, 80a to 120a, and fairly low turn capabilities even on 3s. Narrowed it down (barely) to the 10bl120, Fire Phoenix XeRun 120a, the newly released Surpass Hobbies Rocket (now just called ROCKET-RC) clone of the 10bl120, and two fairly powerful 200a ESCs the LRP Spin Pro and the little known and very versatile Traxxas VXL 3355x. NOT the "3355R" but the "X", the X has automatic detection of sensorless AND sensored and does both Brushless or BRUSHED, its available from rcmart for only $80 and may be the most versatile BASHING ESC available, imo, 😆. Out of my list.... The VXL"X" is the most versatile, the LRP is most advanced, the Rocket-Rc is newest , but the 10bl120 is half the price of the 200a ESCs i listed and proven over time over the new Rocket-Rc 120a ESC. So once again the 10bl120 looks like a winner. BTW HobbyKing moved their Oregon warehouse to a smaller location earlier this year and since has had barely any stock of anything in the U.S.A., shipping from U.K. is astronomical and therefore ive weened myself from even going to their site! Booooo! Therefore the X-Car 120a ESC isn't even available in U.S.A. and if i ordered it from UK shipping would be somewhere around $35!!!!!!!! So it's not even a contender for "budget 120a ESC" anmore!

Nope they suck .I got three runs out of mine, before the esc just started to power the motor flat out as soon as you turn the power button on ,yes the transmitter was on first ,it won’t calibrate the throttle again since it was set up ,it just beeps and nothing else ,there’s a few folk on the net with varying problems with this esc ,from no power to the motor, problems like mine and severe burning smell after a few runs .Mines only running a 13.5 turn ,so it ain’t a high output motor by any means .
