    I appreciate you clarifying the eggs. I have been buying cage-free, organic eggs and paying $5 a dozen. I thought I was making a better and more ethical purchase. I'd love to raise our own chickens for eggs but have limited yard space. This reminded me to do a little more research and "hunting and pecking" around (haha) for information to ensure I am getting the best quality for our money. I love and appreciate your oil videos as well. I am just cleaning up our home from toxic products so I love the information you share. XO from Nashville

    Another little tip yes all the fruit that’s cut up already, or than me that’s been seasoned and packaged for you to prepare is usually the items that are going bad soon. So you don’t generally want to buy those anyway!

    Now I’m sad about chickens :-( The pasture raised eggs near me (in store) are upwards of $10 a dozen and they’re smaller than normal! Maybe going through a local chicken raising family farm type of thing would be better - when you go to a farmer’s market are those eggs typically pasture raised? Or would I have to ask the individual sellers how their chickens are raised?

  • @allison8553

    @allison8553

    You'd have to ask the seller BUT a local hobby farm is probably going to be more humane and clean because they actually care about and eat the eggs. Just my two cents🙂

    Don’t potatoes spike up your insulin?

  • @cynthiaesparza4547

    @cynthiaesparza4547

    Potatoes have a specific combination of soluble and insoluble fiber. If you have insulins sensitivity, you can check your blood sugar after eating to see if they cause an issue. Potatoes combined with a fat or protien slow down digestion, as well as allowing them to get cold as the starch forms into an insoluble fiber that slow absorption. Everyone's body is different. Some insulin spikes with rice, flour or different grains. The blood glucose test is the best way to see how they individually react in your body.

    Okay, so I appreciate that eggs are mentioned. However, stressing that pasture raised eggs are superior over conventionally raised eggs doesn’t make them an affordable healthy food for most people. Conventionally raised eggs are about a dollar a dozen in my area. That’s an extremely affordable food. Pasture raised eggs are $8 a dozen. My family easily consumes 4-5 dozen of eggs per week. There is no way we could afford to pay for premium eggs. Obviously we would if we could but that’s just not how life is for us right now. I know you mentioned buying the best eggs for your budget but I think the conversation about conventionally raised and pasture raised eggs should have been saved for a different video. My thought is there might be people coming here with food insecurity but still searching for healthy options on their extremely small grocery budgets. I hate the thought that anyone might leave here feeling food guilt because they can’t afford the premium eggs.

    I disagree, obviously pasture raised eggs are not in everyone's budget. (not in mine either!) But having the information presented here to know that I may be spending extra money on these cage free eggs every week and really not be getting any benefit from it (or really helping chickens). So instead maybe I could buy the cheapest eggs for 3 weeks and on the fourth week splurge for the fancy pasture raised or the free range. None of this information was presented in a way that demeaned anyone if they couldn't provide the best, instead Becca gave clear information about the different options and encouraged us to make the best choice for ourselves.

    it's not free to make bone broth yourself, you're paying for the weight of the bones when you buy the chicken lol
