Quick tip. I have attached a metal dragonfly (other creatures are available) at the bottom of the giant loop. It helps to submerge the rope in the mix, & gives an element of control when creating.

Yes, great tip, I used to thread a small nut onto the rope for weight. Thanks for the comment 👍!

I've been making, & performing with, giant bubbles for about 7 years. I love them! I use JLube (there is another one called "Fist", but the site is definitely not veterinarian lol!!). I'm in UK, so no Dawn, instead Fairy Platinum. The formula has changed, but still works well. I add baking powder & a touch of guar gum. Just last week I experimented with adding a dash of liquid glycerine. Worked amazingly well. I use telescopic fishing rods - light weight, & can collapse down for ease of transport. Depending on conditions, I usually create bubbles approx 30 feet long. Biggest was 75 ft on the Scottish coast. People were walking & driving a mile to find out what they were! I make giant bubbles all year round. No problem unless it's very hot & dry, or very windy.

Great video, thanks for the shoutout! I would experiment with the amounts of detergent and guar to find the concentration you like. My preferred mix is the one from the soap bubble wiki, here it is... 1 Liter of water 40-65ml dawn soap. (i use 50ml, more soap equals thinner bubbles but more bubbles per dip. Less soap is a thicker bubble and can boost lifetime at the cost of quantity.) 1/4 slightly heaping teaspoon of guar. (mix with slurry) 1/2 slightly heaped teaspoon baking powder (not baking soda) Multiply recipe for quantity you need. VERY IMPORTANT! The US cups/measuring spoons are SMALLER than the imperial ones. Its best to measure in ml. If you are using a US cup for your detergent, the amount you put in was not enough, as evidenced by it popping fairly quickly when tried to make them. If you used 2/3rds of a US cup, that is about 156ml of detergent. I would recommend at least 200-250ml. Start with 200ml for 4L of water which is a 20:1 water/detergent ratio. With enough detergent you can easily make tubes 20-30 feet long, maybe longer. Guar is very forgiving in the mix so you can use as much as 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon per liter. More guar will increase elasticity and self healing but the mix will be thicker. If you add too much it may be hard to get the bubbles to form properly, i usually stick with around 1/4 heaping teaspoon per liter. Certain brands of guar work better than others, a favourite is bobs red mill brand. (all will work though) Atmospheric conditions are another important factor. Air quality, temperature, humidity, wind, bugs and even the surface under the bubbles (grass vs cement) will impact the bubbles. The most ideal conditions are cool, clean air with no pollutants, (bugs, pollen, falling leaves etc) with a temp around 3-20c (37-68f) and the highest level of humidity you can get. (Over 90% is magical) Right before or right after it rains is perfect. If it is hot and dry, reduce the amount of soap you add which will increase the water to detergent ratio. This will boost lifetime at the cost of quantity. (less bubbles per dip) The best place i have found is a beach. I have had these guar bubbles last several minutes (3-5 mins, they float up in the sky forever) in those conditions. If you're making bubbles over cement, the lifetime will be reduced due to the extra heat rising from the ground, dirt or grass is better. The bubble will pop when the water inside the bubble evaporates, so you want conditions that reduce the amount of evaporation that happens. Also, it is important to wait at least 15 mins after mixing to get better performance. You will reach max performance if you let it sit overnight so the guar can hydrate.

@@magicianword Its a VERY deep rabbit hole to find the best mix. There are so many factors. The same mix can be amazing one time and bad the next. It all depends on atmospheric conditions. Even the type of string you use on your wand can affect it. Pure cotton rope works well. I think the world record holder used a rubbermaid mop that had been stripped apart into 1 long strand of super absorbent material. Some people even use different string for the top and bottom strings of your wand. I also went down the route of trying to find the "perfect" mix when i first started. Eventually i got to the point where i figured the guar mix was "good enough". It easily gets out of hand with measuring ingredients by weight down to 0.001g, measuring and adjusting the pH level, testing different types of water (tap vs distilled) and even the order you mix ingredients and how you mix them such as fizz mixing, (baking soda and citric acid) hand mixing or power mixing with a paint mixer and a power drill. When you get to that level you hit diminishing returns on results and it becomes a big hassle, so i eventually settled on the guar mix. There is something to be said for simplicity and consistency over raw performance. Try out that guar mix again with more detergent and let us know if it improves from the batch you made in this video. :)

@shadowkiller123 I will try more, Dawn. It is so true about the bubbles depending on wind, temperature, and atmospheric conditions, along with so many other factors.

Thanks a lot for sharing, I am using both methods and was asked to do some with kids at daycare summer fest. I am a bit afraid with stains or ruining clothes from attentees. I think guar cum recipe has less string leftovers? Maybe worth a video to do some tests with white shirts, if there are any leftovers or even possible to ruin.. I know cheap bubble juice for bubble guns and small bubbles can ruin clothes, gray dots, chemical reaction and not possible get them out again.
