Before i found your channel, over the last few weeks ive been looking at getting my first motorcycle. I did my motorcycle training class on a ninja 300, and enjoyed it, so I was browsing the ol craigslist and looking ninja 300/400's and the like, and i came across the golden ticket, a posting for a ninja 650. Started doing the research and have found so much positive reviews and so many people saying its a great starter bike, im beyond ecstatic. I was worried it may be too much power, or uncomfortable, but then realized i was thinking more along the lines of a 600, not the 650. In the last 4 days i think ive watched 10 or more of your videos, and im super excited to go look at this bike on tuesday, oh, and the best part? the 650 was only $1k more than the 300's i was looking at! wish me luck =)

It can turn and stop well enough, and it has just enough power to go fast, but can never scare me, even in 1st gear it's manageable. I fckin love that thing.

The ninja 250 is a great beginner bike. It is fairly cheap to get used ,it gets between 55-65 mpg depending on riding style. Can easily go 100 miles without getting sore butt syndrome. Goes 0-60 in a little less than 7 seconds and is easy to work on if it even breaks. Hence why they sold by the millions.

I take the MSF in a few weeks so I haven't been able to ride it yet and you mentioned early on about avoiding carberators, which scares me a bit because this one seems to have trouble idling. To be fair, I haven't left the choke on for more than a minute because this bike is LOUD. And I live in an apartment complex so I dont feel comfortable letting it sit for 2-5 mins at 5k RPMs. Hopefully I will feel more confident in starting her up after I take the course!

I still have it but I ride my other bike more now (gsxs-750.) Honestly it is a great bike, great daily driver, 55 mpg no matter how hard you ride it, cheap parts, great handling when I put a bandit rear shock and Sonic fork springs into it. It has 22,000 miles on it now and I think my wife wants to learn on it now. They really are great bikes and so cheap too

GS500's can be had for super cheap here in Belgium, I bought mine back in February for € 800 & it's a bargain and a half 47.000km's and it still cranks right over & runs super smooth! For anyone who is worried about the looks, do this : Get bar mounted mirrors (Silver matches the bike well) A short license plate bracket, shorten the mudguard & relocate the stock turn signals if you're cheap like me White tyre paint & start colouring in those letters! Remove the chain guard, wouldn't recommend it per-say .. but c'mon it looks neat-o A roll of vinyl stickers to replace the faded ones with something more personal - Includes a fun afternoon of tracing the old ones and cutting new ones that pass the 1.5m test if you squint a little Keep the stock exhaust, it sounds throatier than you'd think & saves you from getting pulled over in Germany The only thing that'll look out of place is the rear tyre, it's a little skinny but it makes it look unique; you get asked "What bike is that?" often. I do like the contradictions in this video, Yamms you said no carbs .. all GS500's have a carb .. two of them! ;)

What do your abs have to do with that? ALL new bikes have abs, because of the safety laws. Or do you want to die? In panic or on bad patches of the road, things can go deadly wrong, and abs helps. You could as wel say it's a SV650 on two wheels. Duh! Of course it has abs.

Reasons I hear it's good for noobs: Light weight. Comfortable for short or long rides. Reliable. Can maintain high speeds without feeling to overpowering for a new rider. Turns heads.
