You're the first KZread video to show up on a Google search for looking at Pixel Fold cases, so this is my first introduction, to you. I'm typing this within the first 10 minutes of your video; you're on Spigen, right now. SO FAR, SO GOOD! 👍👍 I'm hoping you will cover my problem; you have on a couple of cases, but I'm having issues with the top piece easily coming off. I'm trying to find the best case where that DOESN'T happen; preferably one that legitimately "snaps on", without the use of those sticky tapes. You've been very thorough, so far, so I can't wait to finish watching the rest of the video. But that top piece, that's my biggest concern. Bought some junk off eBay, and top comes right off, when trying to open. Liking the Pitaka so far, but I'm not done with the video yet, lol.

the reason there’s very little to no raised edge on the inner display is because of how flat the screens are when the phone is folded up. if a raised edge was any taller than a fraction of a millimeter, it would cause the phone not to fold flat. secondly, how often do you imagine people laying the pixel fold with the inner screen face down to protect the screen? because i certainly never do that with mine. i just don’t think it’s a very valid point of criticism given the expected usage scenario. the most important raised lip to have on the case would be for the cover display and the camera lenses. i just wanted to point that out because you seem to repeatedly mention that having a raised lip for the inner scree as a criteria for a good case. imo it’s actually the opposite. a good case should not interfere with how the phone is designed to fold flat.

What if you drop it on its face while it's open? Even from a couple feet above the ground. Imagine shattering two thirds of your $1800 phone I was definitely hoping for some inner screen protection and it looks like the Pitaka MagEZ case accomplished that, while still allowing the phone to fold (what looks like) completely flat 8:26 and 8:17

Hi! I just discovered your channel and you instantly gained a new subscriber! I thought about buying the spigen slim fit, but now I changed my mind. What would you recommend for me, as someone would loke to have some more protection but doesn't want to pay that much?

Number 24, the VITODO case was really nice. it has a MagSafe feature and a kick stand and if you like minimal style cases it would work nicely. Picking that one up for sure.

Great review of the cases. I'm looking for a kickstand case, probably the Poetic Guardian or NINKI Magnetic case with hand strap. I think these are the only 2 that will support it in the natural open position because the kickstand is in the spine.

Had the same issue with the original case without using the stickers on the back. Using the stickers everything was fine. On the front didn't need the stickers. 😊

Which case would you recommend for regular install and removal? Anything with stickers is a no go for me. I need a case to use in combination with a quad lock generic mount but I will remove it when not cycling.

It's not much but thanks for the long review so I know exactly what to get now.

I'll start off by saying thank you for reviewing all these cases. I'm on my fifth case right now and I wish your video was out when the phone dropped lol I'm currently using the VRS design slim minimalist case. I love it but it's peeling after 3 days I'm going to try the dbrand case with a kickstand would like you to review that one if possible.

Thank you for your support Angel. I actually pre ordered the dbrand case but they had issues with manufacturing so it wouldn’t be here until August 🤦‍♂️ .

One thing about the wireless charging test is it might show you that it's charging at first but most thick cases won't be charging afterwards and if it does it's a lot slower. This is also dependent on what wireless charger you have as well. Some are better then others.

@@adjbuzz Yep. You can either prioritise protection and utility (like flip stand or integrated card holder) or you can prioritise convenience - in which case "no case" is the best option. "No case" is the most light weight option, the smallest option and no issues with wireless charging. Thin cases are useless: they offer no drop protection since the hinge side is unprotected anyways so there's basically no real reason to use them. Might as well go without a case at that point and get the best of that side of the spectrum.

​@bexclue3007 - I think minimalist cases are designed for those of us that NEVER drop our phones, because we grip them so tight, and we're more concerned with the phone having no scratches or damage to them. I've barely had my Fold and have already noticed the stainless around the camera scratches......EASILY. 😮 Freaked me out, tbh. 😱

@@johndanielsforJesus I thought there's some scratch resistance film/stickers or something. If there isn't, the minimalist case for scratch resistance makes sense, sure. I've never dropped my foldable out of my hand. But I've dropped it out of my pocket or dropped it from my bed. So be careful 😉

@@bexclue3007 - I can honestly say that, after over 15 years of smartphones (20+ years of cellphones), in the 15 years of smartphones, I can count on one hand the amount of times I've dropped 🫳 😳 my phone(s). One was recent (my S22 Ultra), which I left in a precarious position, on top of my car. Circumstances played out, and the darn thing landed on its face. So that had to be upgraded to the more recent S23 Ultra. The drop that preceded it 2 years prior, was me working 2 full-time jobs, with barely any sleep 😴, and just being "out-of-it". It wasn't just the phone I dropped. Car keys, and, very often, soda cans, were sliding out of my hand, on the regular. The final 2 "drops", nearly a decade ago, now, were not actually "drops". I apparently (or used to, lol), have a bit of "gamer rage" 😳 One phone was the Galaxy S8; I can't remember the other phone; it's been too long. Both times I lost connection, or something happened, while playing the game, and I just "road-raged" my phone!! Slammed it into the ground!!!! 🤬 You'd have thought I would have learned after having to pay the first deductible, from my insurance, and going through the headache and hassle, but NOOOOO. 🤦‍♂️🙃🤣🤣 I learned after the 2nd time. I'm not going through that, a 3rd time, lol. My current phone lineup is the Pixel Fold (primary line) ; S23 Ultra (business line) ; Z Fold 4 (backup phone)

Nice job and thank you for reviewing so many cases. I have been waiting for a video like this for the Pixel Fold. It is frustrating that none of these case makers see the importance of a lip on the inside the phone. The one thing about this device that makes me nervous is dust and debris on the inside. A case with a raised lip will remove a lot of the worry because the phone would then close flush with the case instead of on itself.

The phone was designed to have no gap when closed. Think about it for a second. If a case has a lip for the internal display, you won't be able to close the phone completely. Not only that, it will add stress to the hinge and eventually break the phone.

I'm having no issues with the Google case, I have the baby blue one. It doesn't appear to have any flaws at all. Please don't put the phone face down when unfolded, it's really not necessary. The inner screen has a factory fitted, plastic screen protector that shouldn't be removed of course. If there was a raised edge around the inner screen, the whole phone would need to be redesigned as it would no longer fold flat which is one of the design pluses of this phone's design: the hinge would need to be made wider.

I'm going with the Ghostek EXEC case when it comes drops in July. Give that a look.

I haven't been able to find anyone showing off the dbrand case yet :(

The Ninki Magnetic case was my fav it looks stylish and well made

I'm curious about some of the luxurious leather cases such as a bellroy offering

can you do me a favor? i have the FLURIKA case and when i use the small pad type wireless charger after like a min or teo ill check the phone and the magnetic ring on the back will be literally hot enough to melt skin. Does your do that?

I have the Poetic Spartan case, and it seems decent, but every time I open it I feel that the case can easily pull away from the screen. Not sure if this is common with all cases (you can't really have a raised lip on the interior). Anyone else have a similar experience? I'm thinking of ordering a Whitestone Escudo or a Ghostek ATOMIC and seeing how they compare.

PUROOM on Amazon has a great case. I got the Google branded case and it kept lifting or I would accidently pull it off. The PUROOM case has a magentic hinge that works nicely when opening and closing the phone.

This 100% works. I just finish following the vid and its work!! Thankyou so much!!!

Spigen Thin fit is always on my phones!!

Great video. The case market is so interesting. The phone is $1800 but you know people will buy some of these thumbs down cheaply made cases for it lol

I have the Kugew case with the magsafe ring and when I charge it in my car with my wireless charging phone holder the ring gets extremely hot

Liked the video before even starting it.

You can't expect a lip or raised edges around the internal display because they designed the phone to have no gap when folded/closed. Come on now.

More like delay brand now. 😊. It's nice but sucks that it won't be out until next month now. I might cancel my pre-order and get it later instead. They should've added magsafe tho for that price.

I really wish I could say because I did pre-order their case for The Fold but they sent out an email stating that something went wrong in manufacturing and I wouldn’t be able to get the case until August so I had to cancel my order because it wouldn’t be available in time for this video. I will keep trying on future videos as well though maybe for the fold five?

Will you do a best case with a belt holster?

The Pitaka cases do not come off the phone that easy, the front part which is a lot thinner around the edges comes off a little easier than the back does but I definitely don’t think that the case is just going to pop off during daily use.

i bought now the pitaka lets see :) sadly not on amazon.

Isn't Kevlar the DuPont brand name for Aramid Fiber? So it's essentially the same but just not branded from DuPont. Like Keelnix vs tissue

You are correct,aramid is the general name for a strong and heat-resistant class of fibers.

what do you think of this case - VEIOEZ for Google Pixel Fold Case Buit-in Screen Protector, Magnetic Hinge Protection,Buit-in Metal Kickstand,Wireless Charging Support (Card Holder Black)

Stickers are normal for folding phone cases, until phone makers start to make little indents on the side of the phones for cases to snap into we will have to continue to use the glue stickers, a quick tip is go to a craft store and buy some craft glue dots, these work GREAT on either replacing the old glue stickers in the case you had to remove your old case or if you need to add more glue stickers to help secure a case better.

I had it on order and dbrand had manufacturing issues so it wouldn’t be shipped until August, so not in time for this video unfortunately.

Latercase vs Pitaka for me

I think there was some bias as some you pushed on to see movement and commented on the spine protection (or lack thereof) and others not so much.

It wasn’t bias, I thought I mentioned spine protection, in every case that I reviewed whether it had it or not. And as far as trying to see how well it stayed on the phone, I think I stopped doing it halfway through, and would just mention if I noticed that the case easily came off or not. It’s tough because the video is so long as it is I just wanted to try to keep down the amount of extra information that wasn’t needed if I didn’t see an issue with it.

3:25 Raised edges on the front would make it impossible to close the phone completely, and you would get more to complain about. 😂

The last one is like an experiment disaster.

None of the cases can have a raised edge on the inside screen. It would stop it closing if they did...

i got the Whitestone Dome Escudo and its AWFUL! the ""GLASS""" if i can even call it that got scratched by i dont even know what. not to mention ( i dont know if its a defect but) the lower part of the screen dosent touch so well with this screen protector on. also the raised bezels on the front are a NIGHTMARE when you have to press something in the corner or have to use gestures AVOID IT.

The pixel fold looks great! Too bad it is 4 times the price i want to pay for a phone :/

I have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid and my back piece does not have that deformity that yours does. Sadly looks like you got a dud.

The pitaka case isnt worth it. Its not woking on my Pixel Fold.

Man they are all butt ugly and bulky except for the Google own case, Pitaka MagEZ Case 3 , and the Latter case. Pitaka case is $79 lol got bad reviews at Amazon as it snaps off easily.

Design is very subjective so I see why this wouldn't be a talking point when talking about the best choices for cases but for minimalist cases the design is definitely important moreso than the other categories. I personally don't like the look of the Spigen so I went with the later case.

Someone from Pitaka under your desk when you made this video?

Too bad that stylus case is so flimsy. If someone were to make a nice case for the Pixel Fold with a good stylus that wont tear up the screen people would be all over it

Worse case for the Pixel Fold is the Google branded case. PUROOM on Amazon has a great case with magnetic hinge that nicely folds and unfolds without lifting or accidently removing the cover. It also protects your outerscreen and camera.
