Should I wash towel before embroidering?

I am new to embroidery -- purchased a new bernina 570QEE recently; just started using the embroidery module and was surprised how loud the mechanism seems to be. is this normal?

Dear Noreen, it's hard to answer your question without actually hearing your machine. Please try the following: Replace the needle (see kzread.info/dash/bejne/nIipw5mecsjSg6g.html for more information on needles), oil your BERNINA 570 QE (see kzread.info/dash/bejne/lmGgy89xqLfQpJs.html) and clean the hook area. If you still feel that your machine is too loud please contact your BERNINA dealer.

What size needle do you use? Mine keep breaking
