    I have learned that the "thread away" function should be turned off when floating ANYTHING on top of the stabilizer or fabric. Otherwise, you run the risk of the foot traveling off the item being floated. Then when the foot travels back to the stitching position it will get caught under the floated item, causing a very unpleasant situation which is not good.
